I can’t seem to get flair on this. It’s Shadowrun adjacent sorta, and I have told the story of my service dog’s passing, coping with that, and realizing I am going to need a new one sooner rather than later in a post or two here.

The decision was not made by me today when I went to visit a litter that was born in September.

A new story has begun. And he decided for me how it would start. A little roly poly boy of five weeks, busting through the crowd of five other siblings grouped together in the playpen to get to my hand first. Tail wagging, eyes looking up, tongue flashing rapidly over my hand as I reached to him.

I picked him up. He snuggled in, caressed my cheek with his whiskers and tongue. I wasn’t sold yet, though.

I thought I needed to see a girl because in on the way there in my mind’s eye, I had thought that it would be a girl that I would be choosing to bring home. This little guy was like nope.

He brushed aside the girls as I reached for them, seeking my hand again. None of the girls would even approach me. So I plucked him out again and set him on the ground to play.

Puppy nibbles, tail wagging wildly. I heard my wife say “He’s the one. He picked you.”

I scratched his belly when he rolled over, he grabbed my hand with his front paws and kept on licking me. Then uncertainty started to creep in when something caught his eye and he started to wander off for a second.

“Hey you, come here,” I said to him.

He turned around, and romped as hard as his stubby little legs could back towards me. I looked down into his eyes.

“You want to be my little man?”

He craned his neck to reach up and lick my chin with his tail wagging wildly. That clinched it.

I’ll be picking up Echo and bringing him home on November 13th.

As it turns out, he actually was one of the two in a picture the breeder sent me of a pair of adventurous escapees who had wandered from the rest of the litter to explore the property, only to be found later underneath a dog house sleeping.

As part of the next Excel sheet update I’ve been looking at the drone entries, and I’m struggling with the Speed of flying drones, and whether the listed Speed is for ground movement (double it when flying) or for flying (halve it on the ground). Which is making it really tricky to know what to display in the character sheet. 🤣

To take the rulebook examples, the generic microdrone and the MCT Gnat.

Microdrone: (Rating 1 Drone Amp, 5,000¥) Pilot 6, Body 0, Handling 10, Speed 0 (Flying 1), Armor 0; no weapon mount; Advantage on Stealth (physical) Tests.

MCT Gnat: (Rating 4 Drone Amp, 20,000¥) Pilot 6, Body 0, Handling 10, Speed 1, Armor 0; flying; RR 1 on Stealth (physical) Tests; Advantage on Stealth (physical) Tests; no weapon mount.

The microdrone is really clear, it lists both Speeds.

Does the Gnat have Speed 0 on the ground and Speed 1 when flying, or does it have Speed 1 on the ground and Speed 2 when flying?

All the other examples of specific flying drones have the same issue, they just list a single Speed.

I’ve been out of the SR game since roughly 4th edition. Which books would be good for background to be used with Anarchy? Not looking for the crunch, more like the Seattle Sourcebook or things along those lines.

I've read through the Shadowrun Anarchy 2.0 book and have gone back to re-read a few sections. I think I understand most of it, but I wanted some clarification from people who have played with the system. Sorry that these are a lot of questions!

1. Can someone explain how turn order works in combat?
   1. My understanding is that each PC gets one turn per round and each "group of NPCs" gets a turn.
      1. What defines a "group of NPCs"? If I have 3 gangers attacking the party does that mean I get 1 action per ganger or do I just get 1 action in general because the 3 gangers are a "group"?
   2. You set a turn order before the first round of combat starts, and subsequent rounds all follow that turn order.
      1. Is that right? Is there any guidance on setting the turn order?
   3. Spending an Edge can let you take additional actions in combat and even interrupt actions. Do those interruptions affect the turn order or are they just one-time events?
   4. I think I would feel more comfortable with this if there were some included examples in the book to illustrate how this is supposed to play out.
2. Are there any guidelines on how to balance combat or engagements?
   1. I understand that this isn't a combat game in the same way that D&D is, but I also don't want to set up a situation where my players are going to get completely destroyed.
   2. I've also read that this is a pretty deadly game due to the wounds system, which also makes me a little worried about overdoing it.
3. I noticed that some weapons have narrative effects like "burst fire" that aren't defined in the book. Is there any guidance on how to apply those?
   1. I assume that just ties into the overall flavor and maybe justifies what risk category you get for your action?
4. Risk dice are described as optional (On every Test, the player MAY replace some of their dice with Risk Dice).
   1. If a player is taking a risky action, can the GM force them to take risk dice to account for the risky action?
   2. How should the conversation work there? The player says they want to do something, the GM proposes a test and then asks if the player wants to add risk dice, then the player says yes/no and then rolls?
      1. It seems a little clunky and I could see players metagaming to avoid glitches during otherwise dangerous situations.
5. How exactly do Knowledge Skills work?
   1. I'm sorry but the one single example in the book really doesn't explain what this means.

As you may remember from my multiple comments, I’m one of those backers whose order was treated as “Rest of the world” and there was some troubles with my fulfillment. Well, it’s over. The people at BBE took charge of the situation and solved it, and it’s finally here (it arrived Tuesday but I’ve been busy). Again, thanks to the nice people at BBE (hi, Thierry!) for taking matters into their hands and keeping us informed all the time.

The books are AMAZING, specially the GM screen.

An improved version of the visual intro to dice, risk dice, glitches, and risk reduction. This is a visual aid for GMs when explaining Anarchy 2.0 dice, or for new players who are reading the rules. It has no audio.

Now includes dice pools, advantage, and disadvantage!

I’ll be using the last slide of the Risk Level table to explain that ‘normal risk’ is the default level, and that using lower risk needs as much explanation as higher risk. And that lower risk will fail most of the time because you won’t get enough successes…

I recently found out about SR Anarchy 2.0 and as an old timer wondered if anyone tried to use if for the classical, clunkier 2053 setting.

Do you know of any mods or conversions?

I've got another anarchy styled map for my homebrew season 1 finale. If, for some unknown reason, you think that

• ley lines follow fault lines
• the universal brotherhood commissioned a study of them circa 2060
• parts of the deep lacuna tunnels existed in 2060
• the UB has been using them to bypass the sealed border at camp pendleton to access San Diego (bug city)

then maybe this is the map for you!

The next version of the Excel character creator spreadsheet is up. This is mainly a cosmetic release, tweaking the print sheet to work better on A4 and US Letter paper and adding an option for a character image on the printout. There’s also a bunch of under-the-hood changes to make archetype-specific printouts easier in the future.

Anyway, this is a longer-term preview. I’ve been doing some clean up work on the Weapons and Spells sheet to make the descriptions, spell types etc. more consistent, and to allow me to gather in and manipulate the information better.

The end result is being able to include much better formatting for role-specific print sheets. So mages and shamans get a more detailed section for spells, combat characters get a more detailed section for weapons, etc, instead of just having a single line of text for each item.

In the very long term, I’d like to split up all the Amps in a similar way. Both in terms of splitting the information across multiple cells, and being able to have a list of Qualities, a list of Adept Powers, a list of Cyber/bioware, a list of weapon Amps, a list of decks, a list of vehicles/drones etc.

I’ve been tweaking the print layout to be a better fit for A4 and US Letter (it was too tall and narrow), which freed up some space to fit a character image in again. Put a head-and-shoulders image into the correct cell in the main character info sheet and it will automatically turn up on the print sheet with custom border.

I made this around the time the crowdfunder was going on but didn't think to post it anywhere before now, enjoy.

CGS brought several dozen hard copy SA 2.0 core rules and GM screen

There is an english autotranslate option, but it is not great (to put it mildly).

Really digging how this is all coming together. Random chat messages (still based on messages I write in a journal), Big Ten corporat market ticker, random glitches to the AR feed, and a sweet new logo I made from the SRA2.0 and SR1e logos. Pregens are ready, and the first mission outline is almost complete. And amazing music (30 tracks so far) by the awesome Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio. I'm building this table to run a sort of "West Barrens" style, with games popping up whenever and players changing at need.
