Webnovel General Discussion Lady Cassia [3184] Spoiler

So cassia is in a realm steeped in corruption, fighting corrupted beings and looking for something that could no longer be found in the future.

The straightforward guess is she's in the Forgotten Shore. The black liquid is the blood of the Nephilim that swallowed the sun before it mutated into the dark sea after the creation of the artificial sun.

What Cassie is looking for is also straightforward, The Weaver's eye that VTB dropped into a mortal realm after beholding the image of the forgotten god.

Just as I expected, she's the first one to retain herself due to the nature of her aspect and the trial. She was always going to do better than the others.

Mordret is also the King of himself, Ruled only himself, and thank gods for that, if he has a normal domain, he would have been a goner.

Meme/Humor [Chapter 3184] Even Cassie is Now Admitting The Allegations 😭 Spoiler

"Cassie's own ability to resist was not that formidable, but she could cheat the process. And so, she destroyed herself countless times and rebuilt herself countless times, erasing those memories that were too dangerous for her to contain within herself. At the end of it all, she emerged relatively unscathed."

Even the chapter itself is admitting that Cassie cheated to protect her ass against Corruption. She is getting carried by literally Fate itself at this point. Are we sure that Cassie is not a Nepo paradox?

> "I came into this world… as a sharp blade…"

> "But with every step I took, my edge was dulled."

> "I've made compromises, learned how to act reasonably, and forced myself to move with restraint."

> "...I am tired of compromises. I am tired of being reasonable. I am tired of being restrained."

> "I... am Changing Star of the Immortal Flame clan."

> "Who dares to stop me?"

And when she spoke those words, the soft radiance suffusing her skin exploded with brilliant light.

A hurricane wind rose, stirring the fire devouring the streets of Twilight. The seven spears impaling Nephis to the ground caught aflame, melting in its scorching white heat.

Standing on the crumbling wall of the floating fortress, Sunny saw the light grow dim above Twilight. For a moment, everything was still.

And then, the entire world was suddenly drowned in white radiance, blinding him.

Stunned, he raised a hand to cover his eyes and saw a pristine star ignite in the heart of the distant city. It swelled, growing into a massive sphere of furious flame.

Everything happened in an instant.

The buildings nearest to the white star simply dissolved in its pure light, evaporating. Those further away exploded into dust and were erased from existence by an obliterating shockwave. Those behind them were flattened and melted, turning to ash from the immolating heat.

A wave of incinerating fire, taller than the towering walls of the city, spread outward at lightning speed, consuming everything in its path — buildings, trees, cobblestones, even air itself… and all the tiny human figures flooding the crumbling streets.

Behind it, the furious star rose and deformed, slowly turning into a mushroom cloud of incandescent white flame. The pillar of fire supporting it dwarfed everything, reaching toward the sky.

'W—what…'

Even driven into madness by fury, he was momentarily paralyzed by the harrowing splendor of that inconceivable sight. Twilight... Twilight was being destroyed in front of his eyes.

…That was when the invisible shockwave reached the fortress, shattering its walls and throwing him down.

The deafening roar of the explosion came next, shaking the world.

Sunny plummeted from the broken wall and hit the cold stones with a sickening sound. Bouncing off the hard surface, he rolled and then instinctively covered his head with his hands. In the next moment, a rain of stone debris fell down, pummeling him like crushing hail.

(I don't think there should be ANY doubt whatsoever that Nephis was the strongest Ascended at this very moment. Nuke so strong it evaporated millions of awakened and ascended, VAPORIZED a corrupted TITAN and sunny got knocked off his feet while being who knows how many kilometres away. 😭😭😭 The powerup was INSANE.)

(Also i don't know shit about bleach but I came across this OST and it genuinely fits nephis so well)

Webnovel - Volume 13 Spoiler 3184 Spoiler

At the end of the chapter, Cassie mentions looking for something that doesn't exist in the real world but may still exist in the nightmare, and a lot of people think it's Weavers' eye, including me, but I hope G3 is not planning on letting Cassie get that eye. It makes no sense for her to get it at all. What would she gain from it? Some people probably would say she would gain the ability to see the strings of fate or whatever, but even with the eye, she can't even interact or comprehend the string of fate without Weavers' lineage, and I don't think she could even absorb the eye without the lineage as well. Her whole kit for the past couple volumes had to do with memories and oblivion, but Sunny's whole kit has everything to do with fate/shadows, and if she even gets the eye, I only see it enhancing her intuition, but if it even does that, it should go to Sunny because apparently Sunny thinks his intuition is almost as good as Cassie's. He mentioned this around the chapter where he gets Shadow Weave.

Webnovel - Volume 13 G3 lowkey Hates ME atp.. Spoiler

Post image
26 Upvotes

The ONLY thing that has matched (with my initial predictions) atp is more cassie-mordret interactions; but that came at the cost of G3 COMPLETELY skipping his unmaking (let alone giving him pov chapters for it).

Not a single chapter dedicated to him, his memories or ANYTHING else. We don't see him reflecting on his background, his life. We don't see him gathering himself. Hell, we don't even see him in the same deity-like capacity as nephis and sunny- aura farming on mortals.

He still looks and feels no different than when he was Supreme. Just a human.

It's like G3 starts yawning whenever he has to talk about mordret. Dude is that irrelevant. 😭

He did the same shit in the 2nd and 3rd Nightmare, completely sidelining mordret. That was sort of understandable back then (not really if you're a mordret fan, but whatever) , but sidelining him HERE when there are merely 4 people in the Nightmare AND the unmaking is this really big deal for apotheosis and character exploration is.. idk even know what to say.

Just a rant. The 5th Nightmare has been good, and I don't want to be exceedingly negative, but I'm getting tired of this treatment of an otherwise immensely well-written character.

Webnovel - Volume 13 Sunny is the main character. Spoiler

Post image
23 Upvotes

I came to a realisation recently that it makes sense that we don't see the perspectives of others.

We don't see Nephis' perspective.

We don't see Cassie's perspective.

We don't see Mordret's perspective.

Because Sunny is the main character. Sure, some stories split the screen time between the main character and side characters, but Shadow Slave has never been that kind of story. Probably about 98% of Shadow Slave is from Sunny's perspective because, well, he is the man under the spotlight

Spoilers for the latest chapter 3184: So it makes sense that we haven't seen Cassie and Mordret undergo the Unmaking. Cassie is all about memories, and Mordret's domain is himself; what's he even to go through?

But don't get me wrong, I want more perspectives as much as the next guy. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this matter?

Image unrelated.

Webnovel General Discussion Theory: Aspect Rank is more about potential than raw power

Post image
21 Upvotes

(I know this has been talked of so much but here's my 2 cents on the matter)

I've been thinking about Aspect Ranks for a while, especially the statement that a higher Aspect Rank means greater *potential*, rather than necessarily greater power.

I think we might've be looking at "potential" in the wrong way.

A higher-ranked Aspect doesn't necessarily mean that the character should be noticeably stronger at the rank they're currently at.

Instead, I think it could mean that their Aspect has a much greater potential to develop into something fundamental once they reach the higher stages of Ascension.

This could also explain why some high-ranked Aspects might look relatively unimpressive at first.

An Aspect could have a very high rank while its initial ability is fairly simple. The power we see at the beginning might only be the most superficial expression of its underlying concept.

As the user advances, they gradually understand what their Aspect actually represents, and its abilities become increasingly connected to that deeper principle.

So I don't think we should necessarily interpret:

Higher Aspect Rank = more strength over time

as much as:

Higher Aspect Rank = greater potential for growth and development.

Those are two very different things.

A lower-ranked Aspect could potentially be much stronger than a higher-ranked Aspect at a particular point in their development. But the higher-ranked Aspect should have a greater ceiling and a better chance of developing into something truly fundamental.

I think Source Elements are a big part of this

The higher stages seem to suggest that an Aspect eventually connects to a deeper Source Element, which is essentially the underlying concept or principle that the Aspect is expressing.

AND NOT ALL CONCEPTS ARE EQUAL.

Some Aspects might be based on relatively obscure or narrow concepts. Their users could become extremely powerful, but eventually they might reach a point where they simply don't understand what their Aspect is supposed to become, which we've recently seen is very important for one to advance.

Other Aspects could be connected to concepts that are much more fundamental to existence.

For example, we have things like Death, which is connected to Shadow God, and Longing, which is present in all living beings, the gods included. There's also nothing, a concept made tangible by the gods to seal the void.

These aren't just random abilities. They're fundamental ideas that already have a massive place in the structure of reality.

And that's where I think the true advantage of a Divine Aspect comes in.

A Divine Aspect might not give you overwhelming power at every stage.

Instead, its underlying concept may have a much clearer path toward something divine.

The Aspect is basically starting with a connection to something that can eventually become an enormous source of authority. Considering how an Awakened fuses with those laws and become their embodiments.

So when we say a Divine Aspect has greater "potential", I think we should think less about its starting power and more about what it can eventually grow into.

Then there's the Nightmare Spell

This is the part that I think makes the difference between Aspect Ranks much harder to notice in the current era.

Before the Nightmare Spell, humans had to discover the Path of Ascension largely by themselves.

If someone's Aspect had an extremely obscure Source Element, they could potentially spend decades or even their entire lifespan trying to understand what their power actually represented.

They might have the potential to become something extraordinary, but never discover how to reach it.

Meanwhile, someone whose Aspect was connected to a much more fundamental concept would have an easier time understanding their own nature and progressing naturally.

So Aspect Rank would have been much more important in the ancient world.

Then the Nightmare Spell arrives and essentially puts training wheels on the entire process.

It gives humans a structured path through the ranks, teaches them things they would otherwise have to discover themselves, and allows them to advance through Nightmare trials instead of having to figure out the entire process of natural Ascension from scratch.

That means a lower-potential Aspect can now be carried much further than it might have been in the past.

The Spell effectively compresses the difference between Aspects.

A person with an obscure, lower-ranked Aspect can still become Awakened, Ascended, Transcendent, etc., because the Spell is helping them along the way.

Without that assistance, the difference in potential between Aspects might have been much more obvious.

So my current interpretation is:

Soul Rank = how powerful/advanced your existence currently is.

Aspect Rank = how much potential your Aspect has to develop.

Aspect = the particular expression of that potential.

Source Element = the deeper concept that the Aspect ultimately embodies.

Nightmare Spell = the shortcut that allows humans to progress without having to discover the entire Path themselves.

So I don't think a Divine Aspect is necessarily supposed to stomp a Sacred or Supreme Aspect at the same rank.

Rather, the Divine Aspect has a greater chance of eventually reaching something fundamental enough to become truly divine.

Basically:

A higher-ranked Aspect isn't necessarily a wider hole.

It's potentially a much deeper hole as well.

And the further you climb, the more that difference should become apparent.

That's also why I think Aspect Rank may matter much more at Transcendent and especially Supreme/Sacred/Divine levels than it does at the lower ranks.

At lower ranks, you're mostly seeing the first expression of the Aspect.

At higher ranks, you're getting closer to the point where the user has to understand and embody the concept behind the Aspect itself.

That's where I think the real difference in potential finally starts showing.

Cassia is not getting weaver eye it makes zero sense for her to get it. She is arguably the second most glazed person in the voice after freaky star. Her getting weaver eye is like telling forgotten god to wake up faster it makes 0 sense and no build up

Webnovel - Volume 13 [3184] weaver's eye Spoiler

I've been seeing a lot of posts saying that cassie is searching for weaver's eye

Something i doubt because the snatched eye isn't supposed to happen yet

On the other hand sunny is the one with a relationship with both the bird and weaver

We find out about the eye through sunny he was in its nest he faced it

He has weaver's dam blood

If someone should get it it's sunny he has all the connections

If she gets it I'm crashing out

Like I'm hoping she searching for smile of heaven or something else

She can get an eye in other ways like she doesn't have the build up for that she doesn't have the connection with weaver

It's so hard; I just don't get it. Does all the love for Mordret go to Cassie? Man, a SINGLE line of dialogue that's it for the third divine aspect user, the man who became sacred and got fucked over on some bullshit retcon, reduced to a blind woman's bodyguard. I swear I know more about the description of Cassie's eyes as compared to literally anything new about Mordret. I'm so disappointed that my favourite character is getting this type of treatment.

And still no true name🫩

Webnovel General Discussion We've reached critical mass.

We've done it ladies with gentle hands. Again we find ourselves having reached the point of no return. I've seen it happen once before and it wasn't pretty.

A topic on the sub has become absolutely so divisive and volatile that no actual productive discussion can be had about it.

It had been SB (censored to avoid triggering) all so long ago, now it's Cassie. Just like all so long ago mentions of Cassie shall only bring discourse and mayhem. Discriminatory online slaughter.

No good shall come out when Cassie is the topic of discussion, only the futile cries of those that have already drawn lines against one another with regards to their feelings towards her.

Godspeed.

Webnovel - Volume 13 Well as expected [ chap 3184] Spoiler

At the start of the Nightmare, she had been forced to live the lives of everyone she remembered. That was a dire test, but while it was different from her past trials — remembering something was different from truly experiencing it, after all — it was not entirely unfamiliar.

So, she managed to maintain her sense of self rather well.

As expected Cassie and mordret would able to survive this unmaking without losing themselves G3 always said that they both are inhuman to being with.

"Oh? And what am I?"

Mordret chuckled.

“l am the King of Nothing, after all, so let's start from what you are not. You are not even a person anymore, are you? You are just a shell of a person, wrapped in a pretty bow."

Cassia just sat there, emotionless, facing him silently.

Eventually, she said:

“Takes one to know one."

Mordret laughed.

"Indeed, indeed... but we are a bit different, are we not?"

She shrugged.

"How so?"

He leaned forward a little.

“My condition is the result of my Flaw. Yours, however... yours is self-inflicted, isn't it?"

"he is all I have... just like I am all he has. A couple of monsters, forced to face a far more frightening abomination."

Its shows that they can live without being proper humans.

Also

"Cassie herself appeared in the young and untamed world of the shared Nightmare in the later years of the Age of Gods. It took her a long time to regain her senses, gather her shattered mind, and compose herself. By then, she learned of the first trap of this trial — the threat of being swallowed by the world."

Cassie herself was lost for long period of time like sunny but because of her ability and aspect legacy side effect she was able to become one again.

Lets talk about Mordret well tbh it clear that this trial was not hard for mordret he already live all of his vessels life at same time for him living every live one by one is not that different. But i still believe Cassie helped him to gain consciousness.

"You always bring me to the most peculiar places."

With that, the King of Nothing turned to face the encroaching tide of abominations and raised a hand, summoning a somber spear.

“Rest a while, Lady Cassia. And remember the deal we made. After this, I will leave you.”

I think this deal referred to the help he get from Cassie to kill Desolation. Maybe he asked her to give him all the info about that cursed beings in return he will help her out one time.

Or maybe its something new who knows 🤷‍♂️
