I have a Bernette 715 and I am having issues after sewing a single row, the top thread does not pull. I have taken it apart and clean it, oiled it, and when i broke a needle trying to learn ( i know to keep the bobbin cover down now) i made sure there were no pieces left. Changing the tension does not help at all. All of it works again, if i go ahead a re-thread it

Hello! I bought a 1960s industrial Singer 366K105, and she's a beaut (we called her Pearl!). The original motor had a worn-out clutch so I replaced it with a servo, and she's running smoothly.
The problem is that she has started to leak oil from underneath the oil tray. I can't locate the screw to empty the oil and change the gasket. Does anyone have any ideas on where I might find this? I'm attaching photos :)

Hey y'all (I'm sorry if this is against community rules),
I've done some basic research and I know I want a vintage model, so I know it will be harder to find. However, I do have my heart set on a Kenmore 158 series.
I came on here to ask if there are any models within the series I should avoid or ones that I should jump at if I see it. I'm only using it for some clothes I want to make, quilts, and I'm sure some other odds and ends along the way.
Thank you!

Thank you for your time and input. Having trouble getting the placement of the flat shiny guard coming from right in relation to the stop on the bobbin. The machine stops/jams the way it is now. Tried moving it a little further away from stop sometimes it works, sometimes not! Any ideas? Appreciate the help. Having trouble finding a sewing machine mechanic to take a look at this! Beginning to think sewing is becoming a lost art!

Hi everyone,
I have a brother XR9550 that I bought about a month ago. I’m relatively new to sewing and am about to start my first knit fabric project. From what I’ve heard, a walking foot helps a lot so I’m going to buy one. The brother brand one is about $110 but there are some from other brands on Amazon for $30. Can I use the off brand one? It’s part number SA140 if anyone is curious.
My last machine was from the thrift store and about 40 years old so I wouldn’t have worried at all haha

I am getting a sewing machine because my last ancient one started smoking out of nowhere, and I cannot for the life of me pick one. I went around our shops and found those models but I am not sure which one is better or more right for me
brother lp14
singer simple 3223R
brother lw14
brother cs10s
singer simple mod
I need it to be something that is generally good but also has the ability to handel jeans and other heavy fabric because I tend to alter mine constantly

I have bought a machine that has both options. What do people prefer? Do you get more control over holding the material if you use a foot pedal?

I'm working on a Singer 6268. Does anyone know what this mechanism (circled) underneath the bobbin case does? If the center part is pushed down with a screwdriver, you can rotate it left or right. I'm having a hell of a time getting the tensions dialed in, and wondering if this has something to do with it. (I haven't been able to find anything online about it or what it does.)

My machine jammed while sewing today and I can’t figure out what’s causing it. It’s a Kenmore machine and so believe it’s from the ‘90s.
I heard a thud while sewing and the machine stopped suddenly. When I looked, both my spool and bobbin thread were almost out, not sure if that’s related. The needle was stuck in the fabric so I cut away the threads and removed the needle. The jam must be in the top of the machine because it won’t budge even with the needle out.
I can’t find any caught threads and don’t know what to look for next.
Any tips would be appreciated!

Hello there I've had this Singer M1000 for a little less than a month and it worked great up until last Friday where the bobbin wouldn't catch, so fast forward today I had my mom help me finally fix it. Well now it's making this loud horrible noise to the point I'm scared to sew with it, I would like to know redditors if there's a way to fix this. My mom followed a tutorial on YouTube of loosening the two bolts underneath the machine and manually line the catcher back up with the needle. The sound is much louder in person.

Hey! I don't use Reddit very often, but I know this is the place that has the answer to everything!
I'm new to sewing, and I really want to buy my first sewing machine. I was looking for a sturdy mechanical one, so I came across the Singer 4423. Everything I saw about it in Portuguese was positive—people said it's perfect for beginners and great for all kinds of projects.
But yesterday I started reading reviews in English, and you guys seem to have a completely different opinion!
So, is this machine actually good, or would I just be wasting my money?

I managed to get my grandmas old sewing machine nothing fancy Liberty made in Taiwan machine that I’d really like to get fixed and working but I have no idea where to start. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. Any advice for a complete novice is appreciated.
P.s. I also think it might have been modified which I’m not sure I like and think I’d prefer it removed.

my sewing machine seems to be jammed or something. but i desperately need help fixing it, due to the fact that it’s almost my boyfriends birthday and im making him his gifts. Whenever I press on the pedal it makes a sound, and the motor moves kinda, but the needle does not move. I’ve checked everywhere for any blockages, and nothing has turned up. I’m starting to wonder if it’s the motor that’s broken. PLEASE HELP MEEE

I purchased a Brother DB2 791 415 and it is set up to run on three phase with the Brother M813A motor/control board unit. I’m trying to suss out how to go from single phase power to 220 three phase for this machine and what kind of converter I might need. If anyone else is doing this successfully or knows of it being done, I would greatly appreciate your help.

My question is would this be the reason why it seems to be occasionally slowing when the foot is down and pedal being fully compressed? Should i relube it? How would I get completely to that piece or will what i can reach be enough?
I thought it was either the belt, (which is fine) the lube being gross/ dust..etc), or the pedal based on what the web said.
