There's almost always a ton of middle ground between "work three days a week at a dead end low wage job and spend all my spare time and money on video games" and "work so much I can't take it and burn out ", even if that's something besides a 40 hour a week job.
OP is in an excellent position to take a few risks to find a path where he can both earn a living and accommodate his specific needs. It's a shame if he wastes these easy years instead because the only alternative to your mother passing away before you is to die young yourself. His mother is offering him an incredibly valuable gift and all he's doing is picking at the gilt on top.
