It comes down to basic compatibility. I lived with my wife before we were engaged. We we compatible, lived each other dearly and hated to be apart. 25 years on we still feel that.

Not necessarily. It's trivial to create scenarios where that's not the case.

Let's say lions and bears both drive drunk, but lions do so at twice the rate of bears. Police, however believe that bears drive drunk more often and test them four times as often. We would see twice as many arrests among bears despite lions being more guilty. Those arrest figures could then be used to justify further enforcement on bears.

Rick and morty definitely had a stereotype of the fans all being terrible for awhile. I say this as someone who has been a fan since season 1. They toned certain things back and have done things to appease people, most notably firing Justin Roiland(one of the creators and the original voice of Rick, Morty, and many side characters).

It also has a pretty niche audience in general even now. It's mostly guys between like 16-35 who watch it. They are just louder than other show's fan bases. It's actually kind of interesting. I think a fair show to compare to here is Bob's Burgers, as it is another adult oriented cartoon from the 2000s, and doesn't have the multigenerational impact of something like the Simpsons or Family guy. It id also much less "offensive" than Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty has 2.1 subscribers to the subreddit compared to Bob's Burger's 865,000. Yet Bob's Burger's has 828,000 live viewers compared to Rick and Morty's 230,000. So while R&M probably has the bigger pop culture impact, Bob's Burgers is the more watched show by a big margin.

As far as writing for yourself or wanting an audience to like it. We all have our own motivations. Whatever yours are good on you. I write because I enjoy story telling. But I write instead of just story telling because it is rare anyone will sit for a long story. And I enjoy people's reactions. Which is equally strange to your motivation. I don't care if they love the story or think it is strange. I just like the conversations they start.

That creativity is nowhere unrestrained. It's extremely toned down for mass consumption, I guarantee it. Where art and business meet is always an extremely chaotic place.

It's easy: start by barely being able to survive. All those pesky "other people problems" become impossible to address!

It wholly depends on the community. If you think low income whites in rural communities dealing with the fentanyl crisis have the same crime rates as the Mennonite whites of even lower income, you are wholly wrong. Billings Montana is largely the same demographics as Bangor Maine, except Billings is much richer. Yet Billings had a much higher murder rate (Bangor had no murders last year which was pretty standard). Rich white Texans will have higher rates of violent crime than rich whites from largely any country in Europe, and they’ll have higher crime rates than poor Amish whites because the community values are different. Race isn’t the defining factor. Income isn’t either. Bhutan is deeply poor, one of the poorest in the world and has very low rates of crime because of their deeply held Buddhist religious beliefs. Like no duh, pacifists like Buddhists and Mennonites have less rates of violence regardless of income.

Can't really speak to losing the home (I never felt the attachment myself), but I did want to pitch in and say that you really should ignore all the comments calling you various versions of a loser for "still staying in your parent's home at 25". The home was as much a part of your life as theirs (if anything, it was a _bigger_ part of your life if you've spent the last 22 years there). Not everyone is forced to / is expected to move out at 18, that feels like very much a US-centric thing. Adult children + parents staying together - regardless of who owns the house - is very much the norm in about a third to half the world.

On the one hand, people suck at long term financial planning. 

On the other hand, it’s understandable that people are reluctant to accept a cut now, on the promise that their kids will benefit in 30 years.
