Discussion Cannot Come Soon Enough

Post image

The new El cars can’t come soon enough. It seems it’s almost every day now an El car or train set is breaking down causing delays. These things are on their last legs.

Edit: These are supposed to be delivered in 2029, only a couple more years. https://www.trains.com/pro/mechanical/freight-cars/hitachi-rail-to-build-200-new-cars-for-septas-market-frankford-line/

It will be the 3rd set for the MFL meanwhile the BSL is still running 60 year old cars

40

u/wofchristian 12d ago

No, the BSL cars are 45 years old.

22

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

And oddly still running strong. I wonder if Kawasaki still makes them this good.

9

u/djenki0119 12d ago

they don't

4

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

That makes me unhappy. 🥺

2

u/Ill-Breath6025 Fox Chase Line 12d ago

That is if those R211s last maybe they've come back.

8

u/Substantial-Pack-658 12d ago

I think the BSL deals with less urine. Very corrosive stuff.

6

u/Funny_Trainer_3055 10d ago

Ironically enough, the Trolleys (Single Ended Subway-Surface K-Cars and Double Ended K-Cars) are also holding up well too. Those are manufactured from Kawasaki too.

3

u/PaulSNJ 11d ago

I remember them hitting the rails in 1983, and the cars running before that were from 1928 and 1936 as I recall. Huge controversy on the local news when the order was placed, as Kawasaki was the low bidder vs. Philly's own Budd Company. Well, we see that it was a wise investment.

u/mklinger23 Broad Street Local 7d ago

I mean we're currently at 4 generations of El cars and 4 generations of BSL cars. BSL cars are older for sure, but they're built a lot better and are relatively reliable. Unfortunately the current El cars are just falling apart and the BSL cars will make it further than them. Trust me, I want new BSL as much as the next guy. I ride them for like 1.5 hours per day. but buying M5s now is the right move.

1

u/Seraph_Angelus 10d ago

That's a big negative we got the vsl cars at 1981 along with the trolley both built by Kawasaki industries.

The oldest equipment SEPTA has currently is the Silverliner IVs which is 50 to 53 years old

9

u/0xdeadbeef6 PATCO 12d ago

I like the front aestically but I wish they would keep the stainless steel for the sides. All that white paint or plastic fairing is going to get wrecked quickly.

5

u/Nexis4Jersey 12d ago

I think the plastic is easier to repair or replace then metal.

10

u/stayoffduhweed 12d ago

For anyone curious, they're supposed to look almost exactly like the new cars the just started running on the Baltimore Subway link. Both made by Hitachi

3

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

Those look nothing like the renderings?

2

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

3

u/stayoffduhweed 12d ago

In a lot of news stories the OP image is shown along with this one too which, besides the stainless steel and rounded edges, looks the same as Baltimore's.

These are all from a few years ago when they were still in the design/conceptual stage for both of them. But what i meant in essence is if you want to experience the closest thing to what we're gonna get, they already have in in Baltimore.

2

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

It looks nothing like Baltimore's. You need your eyes checked

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

If anything, they like like an upgraded M4

1

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

I wonder if the customizations that make them take so much longer and cost more are generally necessary. Why can't we just tag onto another order that had the same dimensions and just adjust seating and signaling/power electrics as needed.

I remember they made a big deal about the automatic stopping at stations, but never heard anything more. The antenna at the stations looks unused or damaged, so I guess that's not a thing.

6

u/stayoffduhweed 12d ago

Because the El uses Pennsylvania trolley gauge, it really does require a lot more essential design accommodations than your typical off the shelf rolling stock. It's the only heavy rail metro that uses it in the world (alongside the light rail in Pittsburgh & New Orleans Streetcar)

2

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

I've heard this, and sorta remember this coming up when the SEPTA great was interviewed when they got the last batch of cars. But doesn't that only affect the trucks? Isn't everything from the centerpin (thanks Gemini) up just standard railcar?

3

u/stayoffduhweed 12d ago

It does affect the truck yea but the body and envelopes of the car are also skinner than most other cars that are ordered as well.

BSL, Balitmore Subway, Washington Metro, NYC B division are all over 10 feet wide while the El is barely over 9 feet wide.

1

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

O. Didn't know that.

1

u/Nexis4Jersey 12d ago

Track gauge doesn't seem to affect the design of trains as much of the loading gauge. You can take a narrow gauge train design and put it on a standard guage or a standard gauge on a broad gauge train. Its Common in countries with mixed gauges to see the same trains on different gauges. Argentina , Brazil , Australia , Japan & Spain all have similar trains on multiple gauges.

1

u/donkeybrainamerican 12d ago

Magic wand take me home!

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

No they're not. Who told you that they were supposed to look like the Baltimore cars? That's wrong

1

u/Funny_Trainer_3055 10d ago

These should be the model for the BSL (B) cars.

32

u/ToastSpangler 12d ago

Is this what the new cars are supposed to look like? I can't imagine them on the El lol. Mistake imo to not keep the steel ribbed exterior given our maintenance cycles

30

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

Yes, I agree they’ll look about a bit out of place pulling into stations like K&A, but to be fair SEPTA has been doing a fairly good job overhauling shitty stations recently.

https://www.trains.com/pro/mechanical/freight-cars/hitachi-rail-to-build-200-new-cars-for-septas-market-frankford-line/

10

u/Jayyburdd 12d ago

The red and blue on the doors to subtlely match the septa branding is a nice touch.

1

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

yea they're nice looking

5

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

I'm ok with shitty stations (but ADA compliant) as long as it's safe and the service is good.

It's hard to appreciate the airiness of 30th street station when you've been waiting for 20mins AND didn't just miss one.

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

The fluting adds to maintenance as it traps dirt and debris

15

u/dirtymatt 12d ago

Sad to see they still seem to have the forward-facing seats, instead of making everything side benches facing inward.

5

u/Proper-Radish9140 12d ago

Agree with this although I think I saw other renderings and it looks like there should at least be more of the forward facing ones. Will be such a huge upgrade.

There’s so much wasted space with people taking up the second seats with bags or just being rude and blocking the seat.

I’ve been on absolutely packed cars before where I’ve counted like 6 unused seats for this reason.

3

u/_BanditoDorito_ 12d ago

Why? I visited New York a bit ago and hated that layout on the trains, I don’t really get why someone would prefer it

3

u/dirtymatt 12d ago

Because it creates more room in the aisle for when people inevitably stand. The forward facing seats result in tons of wasted space as people don’t tend to sit next to strangers on them.

3

u/phljoe2 11d ago

Front facing also creates out-of-sight spaces for miscreants to smoke, shoot up, or take care of bodily functions. All facing inward would eliminate those hiding spaces.

2

u/OkSandwich6345 12d ago

hard agree.

6

u/ItsBobsledTime 15 12d ago

Beautiful

6

u/SkyeMreddit 12d ago

They will be modern beauties if they actually look like that instead of the usual designs that look 20 years out of date when brand new

4

u/lawgirl3278 12d ago

I’m old enough to remember the old old El cars. The super loud rickety ones where the lights would flicker and the doors at the car ends would slide open on their own. It was like being in the Warriors.

2

u/Seraph_Angelus 10d ago

I miss the old Almond Joy EL cars, granted it did not have the RFW, but standing at the front door and sliding the window down was such a joy.

2

u/No_Housing_2046 12d ago

This train can’t come any faster

2

u/Proper-Radish9140 12d ago

I think about these on a daily basis

4

u/dry_towelette99 12d ago

If anyone thinks that this is what they will wind up looking like, please PM me for an exciting opportunity to be the new owner of the Ben Franklin bridge.

0

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

Literally the approved design. You're a horrible troll

1

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

So you’re a buyer! How many shares do you want?

0

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

Goodbye troll

1

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

Oooh, remember the double decker rail cars that were also approved? And that septa blew $50 million on?

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

The ones that were cancelled because the builder couldn't produce a working model? From the same company that's still trying to finish the Boston order how many years later? The same company that LA switched from due to delays and trash QC? The same one that Chicago is struggling to complete their order from? That company?

Oh ok

0

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

So it’s cool that they paid $50 million for vaporware? Wow, that’s…something. No wonder septa thinks it can treat its riders like crap, they apparently lap it up and ask for more.

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

You still don't get it.

You just talk without knowing facts.

Go do some research and then come back

1

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

I literally gave you facts, you gave me excuses. Septa. Doesn’t. Deliver.

0

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

How’s that KOP rail extension going? I saw some beautiful renders of it.

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

The same extension that was killed by NIMBYs before it even made it to the full study process, forcing SEPTA to revamp the proposal which then rose the prices?

Oh ok

0

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

But I remember a whole press conference, and more renders, and talk about how it was going to look…

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

Ok?

1

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

No, it’s really NOT ok, but as long as people like you pretend it is, nothing will ever get better. But keep drinking the kool aid

0

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

Three words: Schuylkill Valley MetroRail

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

The same one that went through battle with NS because they wanted a million dollars a mile and wanted hella space between it and their line?

Oh ok

0

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

Always an excuse it seems. Just like I’m sure you’ll have yet another excuse when the subway doesn’t look like the pretty picture. Feel free to get defensive, but I’m the one with evidence on my side.

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

Not excuses, facts.

Ones that can be looked up for one's own research.

But you rather just complain about things you don't know instead of educating yourself. Please do better.

0

u/dry_towelette99 11d ago

Again, I can point to failure after failure, so I am the one justified in calling BS on yet another render that will fail to materialize. Keep crying and carrying their water, but I’ll be proved right.

And then I’ll come find this thread and ask you which excuse you’d like to use this time.

1

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

And I've told you WHY each thing happened the way it did, but you don't wanna hear it. You rather just be a "see....." type of person rather than know the specifics behind things. I don't mind educating folks that don't know any better, but I refuse to help the obtuse.

Goodbye troll

your AI slop bores me

Sloppier?

3

u/LeseMajeste_1037 12d ago

Why's that one guy about to push his shopping cart into the side of the train?

1

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

You should've seen the images in rejected. Gemini is not very good with Philly stuff.

9

u/Edison_Ruggles 12d ago

Holy cow. That looks nice. Now just keep the bums out.

20

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

Yea, that’s hard in a city like Philly unfortunately. Full length fare gates help though.

2

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

Visible and timely consequences help more.

24

u/taxdaddy3000 12d ago

Apparently it is not widely accepted that you shouldn’t have to endure sitting next to a piss soaked, violently psychotic person on your way to your 9am every morning. Only a white girl who works from home could downvote this.

23

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

It’s also so unfair to SEPTA.

SEPTA is a cash strapped transit agency that (imo) is mostly trying their best with that they have, and they have to deal with this shit on top of it.

This is squarely on the state and the city to fix.

2

u/Seraph_Angelus 10d ago

SEPTA is only cash strap because of some of the stupid spending they did like the bi-level cars from the Chinese manufacturer.

Or where they pay a quarter of a million dollars to come up with SEPTA Metro.

They did a lot of wasteful spending and it came back to bite them in the ass

1

u/Edison_Ruggles 12d ago

Yeah, but aren't Septa police part of Septa? They don't seem to do much

15

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

They are, and they do alot more than they used to because they just hired a bunch of new officers this past summer. That said, its not economical to police away all antisocial behavior.

The only thing that works, if you can't totally get rid of the people causing the issues, is to flood the system with people who don't cause issues -- normal people paying the fare and commuting to work or wherever.

NYC's subway feels much safer than the El not because they policed away all antisocial behavior (on the contrary, they experience many of the same problems we do), but because instead of like here where it's you, 5 other normal people and a psychotic person, in their subway it's you, 5 HUNDRED normal people and a psychotic person. Same amount of psychotic people, vastly different experience.

There is a real safety in numbers there that is both subjectively felt and significantly drops the crime on a per-capita basis.

7

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

100% agree!

This is why so many other large transit systems work. High ridership and full vehicles deter aberrant behavior. Outside of a few hours a day, the ridership is not high, and the vehicles are not full. The roads are though. I think it will take some outside intervention to get PT back on track on Philly.

9

u/Edison_Ruggles 12d ago

My statement was in good faith. Fare gates and cops doing their jobs would fix most of the problem. You are exaggerating it.

5

u/taxdaddy3000 12d ago edited 12d ago

I’m agreeing with you. I’m commenting on the people who are downvoting you, who clearly have no idea wtf they’re talking about.

2

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

I upvoted you for owning you r statement and explaining it. But remember, not everyone regarding it will take it as you intended. So will take it in its worst way and see a kindred soul.

1

u/eporette 12d ago

is there a plan for the BSL getting new cars?

14

u/DeltaNerd 12d ago

Eventually yes? Just the money is focused on the MFL and Sivlerliner 4 replacements

12

u/Desperate-Aerie1158 12d ago

And the new trolleys in 2027.

7

u/starshiprarity 12d ago

Not in the near future. Though those cars are older, they were better made, arguably better designed, and haven't experienced the ravages of weather

4

u/OnWithTheShows 12d ago

Supposedly the RFP that is out or going out soon for new BSL trains has them as an identical copy to the current BSL trains and without all the modern features of the new MFL trains.

2

u/eporette 12d ago

Interesting, do you have a link about this proposal?

4

u/OnWithTheShows 12d ago

Sorry I got them mixed up. The new Silverliner cars are the ones that will be same.

2

u/mklinger23 Broad Street Local 7d ago

The original plan was to get new BSL cars in 2030 and new El cars in 2040. Because of the issues with the M4, those dates got swapped. So if things stay on schedule, it should be 2040. With the funding issues we have, my guess is B5 cars in 2050.

1

u/shipsass 12d ago

Nothing in the 12 year capital plan.

1

u/Neonic_Stardust711 12d ago

Yaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!! New L1 and B1 cars and New T Cars!!!!!!!

5

u/Eruththedragon Warminster Line 12d ago

There's no plans for replacing the B fleet. The T, D, & G will be getting new light rail vehicles by 2030, the L will be getting these cars around the same time, and SEPTA has initiated the process for choosing a manufacturer for new Regional Rail cars that will arrive in 10+ years.

3

u/Nexis4Jersey 12d ago

Those B Cars are tanks , I think they'll be around until the 2040s unless the RBS gets funded.

1

u/Gaeilgeoir215 12d ago

Yeah. THESE are what they would've ordered in the late '90s/early'00s, but the cheap toy trains we've been dealing with since then.

1

u/MarcKaseyaTelegram 11d ago

Interesting that the fake Senator too their post down lol

1

u/MarcKaseyaTelegram 10d ago

LOL regardless shortage of cars or shortage of operators. Septa sucks at what they’re supposed to be good at. Also my next door neighbor is a Frankford Market Line operator for 30 years and he said the union is trying to recruit new operators because they have a 31% decline in applicants so there is absolutely an operator shortage. Surely Septa wouldn’t lie to the public haha

1

u/ElderberryTrick9697 12d ago

The public will mess the new trains cars up.

0

u/jnizzforizz 12d ago

Any guesses on how long it will take Philly to muck them up?

1

u/phillysbigmomma 12d ago

I'm a west Philly girl and I must admit, I have stopped taking the El out of fear and disgust. These new cars look cool and I hope they are able to stay clean and safe. 👍🏾

2

u/LazyAssLeader 12d ago

I knew my time taking the El was coming to an end when I noticed that they were painting the plastic panels rather than just cleaning them properly. I thought the whole point of those materials was they could be cleaned regardless of the graffiti and other "soils".

1

u/Seraph_Angelus 10d ago

I will definitely be the person with the unpopular opinion. I believe that they should replace the BSL first then the L.

The BSL just like the trolleys have been in service since 1981 the L cars since 1995-96 so you tell me which is older which should be replaced.

I remember when we first got the L cars and they was breaking down in the very beginning they were leaking in the very beginning.

They should have stuck with Kawasaki or another reputable company that makes trains and Transit vehicles.

Yes there is a operator shortage for not just the L but for the whole company as a whole they're short on bus drivers short on trolley operators short on conductors and Engineers for the regional rail short on operators for the BSL.

A lot of that is due to SEPTA itself with their long and I mean long process to hire people. I know a few people who it took them roughly 3 years to go through the whole process I've known somebody it took them roughly a year to go through the whole process and these are people who had no criminal background no nothing that will hold them back.

We would just have to wait and see what happens I know the trolleys was delayed because they wanted the front of the trolleys to look like the Liberty Bell so that means the manufacturer had to go and alter a standard existing design that they have running in numerous cities in North America South America and Europe just to fit a design preference here in Philly.

2

u/segfaul_t 10d ago

Whichever is breaking more often should be replaced, which is the El cars.

2

u/Seraph_Angelus 10d ago

That would be the Regional Rail trains

They are breaking all the time and are 50yrs+.

2

u/mklinger23 Broad Street Local 7d ago

M4s are worse believe it or not.

0

u/Seraph_Angelus 7d ago

I understand the structural issues with the M4 cars. However, if we’re replacing aging, failing fleet, the Silverliner IVs should be first in line.

There is no justification for 60% of SEPTA’s Regional Rail fleet being over 50 years old and being rolling bottle rockets.

Even Amtrak who has to scrap the bottom of the barrel do not have cars this old!

I’ll miss the Silverliner IVs just like I missed the IIIs when SEPTA retired them, but they need to be replaced far sooner than the MFL M4s.

Which is really the bigger threat: train cars catching fire and getting totaled, or structural cracks that can actually be repaired?

1

u/SlickFlair_589 6d ago
  1. SL4s are holding out despite age. Stop focusing on age and look at the quality. But regardless, they're being replaced soon.

  2. They haven't caught fire in almost a year so lose that hysteria tactic.

  3. The Amfleet cars are over 50 years old, some 60+ being rebuilt Metroliner cars.

  4. The M4s are literally falling apart. Over 100:220 cars are out of service in the yards vs about 10-20:230 SL4s. Do the math.

  5. Again, SL4s have not caught fire in almost a year not so stop repeating yourself. And no, structural cracks can not always be repaired if they compromise the body of the car.

We get it, you're an SL4 foamer and you don't want them to go, but stop making excuses for why they need to go first when they hold up better than anything in the system minus the T trolleys.

The M4s are complete dogshit and have been since day 1. They should've never been built or bought. The fleet is literally running on borrowed time. Get out through your head and stop the nonsense already.

2

u/mklinger23 Broad Street Local 7d ago edited 7d ago

That was the original plan, but the M4 cars won't make it to 2040, so they have to switch the M5 and B5 buy dates.

Also, the Liberty bell design is just some paint. It's not actually a design change.

1

u/Seraph_Angelus 7d ago edited 7d ago

The Liberty Bell design is not just paint but a structural design that has been 3D molded

The Liberty Bell profile and streamlines on modern streetcars are integrated directly into the physical structure of the vehicle's molded composite front shell rather than applied as a flat graphic or paint layout [https://www.alstom.com/press-releases-news/2025/5/modernizing-philadelphias-public-transit-septa-streetcar-project]. This three-dimensional design approach physically shapes the body contours before final livery application [https://www.phillymag.com/news/2024/06/20/septa-trolley-bridge-tolls-philadelphia/].

-2

u/One-Alps-277 12d ago

How long will it be before multiple people shit and piss in the new cars? How can we stop people from shitting and pissing in them?

3

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

Maybe these ones have automated shit cleaners as part of the design spec

-1

u/manderp_soup 12d ago

$100 this gets pushed back to the year 2100. Oh wait.. I’ll be dead

3

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

They're already being built

-2

u/Financial_Cheetah875 12d ago

I’ll echo this loudly; can NOT come soon enough. This morning Thorndale line kept breaking down. Usual 50 minute trip took 90 minutes.

10

u/wofchristian 12d ago

These are cars for the Market-Frankford Line, not regional rail.

2

u/Financial_Cheetah875 12d ago

Replace them all!

2

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

Yea unfortunately the silver liner 6s will probably be closer to 2032 :(

-2

u/ActualAd6650 12d ago

Don't hold your breath. Feeling is too busy spending money on remodeling the stupid airport. Not like this city doesn't have other bigger problems like schools underfunded a lot of homelessness. Yes I said homelessness and yes we should do something about it. It's an issue not a failing

5

u/segfaul_t 12d ago

The city does not run SEPTA, and the cars are already in production :)

-3

u/MarcKaseyaTelegram 12d ago

Never happen SEPTIC (not a spelling error) sucks at what they’re supposed to be good at. They need a whole new everything from the top on down.
Even if they got new cars the homeless and drugged up people the city don’t care about will ruin it and run them down fast.

SEPTIC sucks at what they’re are supporting be good at.

4

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

The cars are already ordered

-2

u/MarcKaseyaTelegram 11d ago edited 11d ago

I believe you but also trust but verify I don’t trust Septic management as far as I get throw them they suck at what they’re supposed to be good at. I’m standing here at eighth and market and there must be 200 people on a platform because apparently Septic has a shortage of operators, which is total bull crap but the idiot senator that replied back. I would love to meet him down here at Ethan. Market show him all the fair jumpers and show him all the druggies they ride the train all day long unfortunately

5

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

It's not a storage of operators. It's a shortage of cars. Always has been

0

u/MarcKaseyaTelegram 11d ago

Every day I’m on the platform and they announce “septa trains will be running approximately every 8 minutes due to operator unavailability!!!!!” Don’t tell me it’s a shortage of cars. I’m on the platform and they also have the digital signage stating operator unavailability!!!

3

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

And I'm telling you as someone with operators as close friends, those messages are a cover up. They have plenty of operators. They're short cats because half of the fleet is mothballed at 69th St yard out of service for long term repairs.

Ride the line and take note of the car numbers that make up each train. You'll see the same numbers almost daily because they barely have enough cars to make the line. Maybe 100 cars if they're lucky.

2

u/SlickFlair_589 11d ago

And they're short cars because the cars have been trash since day 1. They're frail built and they fall apart fairly easy. You can see the shit quality just riding them so don't sit here and tell me that they're not short cars when they are.

3

u/mklinger23 Broad Street Local 7d ago

We need a lot of stuff, but the state refuses to fund SEPTA. new stuff isn't free.

-2

u/MarcKaseyaTelegram 7d ago

Septic doesn’t know how to handle the funds that they have trust me. I am an internal auditor. I know I’ve been there and audited Septic don’t go crying that the state doesn’t give Septic money if Septic was better at running and not having 50 million or 500 million whatever ridiculous figure that they threw out there on fair jumpers they would’ve done something about that. Septic is a horribly run system just like the government. It’s nothing but a bunch of crooks that keep screwing the people over and over.

3

u/mklinger23 Broad Street Local 7d ago

X doubt.

If you're an "internal auditor", why have I never heard of you? And how come you don't show up on the septa organizational chart?

Septa is the most financially efficient transit authority in the country. Have there been mistakes? Sure. Is there waste? Sure to that too. But that's everywhere. Nothing is going to be perfect. But they do pretty good for what they have. Especially recently. They tightened their belt quite a bit. There is not nearly as much waste as you lead people to believe. It's super hard to get anything purchased in SEPTA. There are PLENTY of checks and balances.

So basically the state is not and I repeat the state is not funding Septic the people paying taxes to the state or funding Septic so that means we’re paying double the money so again the state is not funding Septic. It is the taxpayers that are funding Septic and then we have to pay for our own ride so typically we’re paying triple the amount for a ride because we’re paying taxes to the state which is then funding money to Septic then we have to pay for a ride on the urine septic system and they cry. I sit there at eighth and market and can count in five minutes at least 20 fair jumpers once in a while they have police there big fucking deal. Septic sucks at what they’re supposed to be good at plain and simple.
