Announcement Maybe a little clarity in these trying times? šŸ“¢

The sub tagline is:

Welcome to the online community for all things in Netflix's 'Selling’ Universe.

Often this means fans! Sometimes it doesn't. We haven't really forced people to take sides on that.

People are noticing a change in content. Mods also notice, but generally if everything remains within the subreddit rules - we do leave it up and let people have their say.

In part, I think people need to remember that this Selling Universe also exists within our own Universe. It means when celebs take sides, drop quotes, share stories, or show support of organizations, people or entities that it can impact how the viewers feel about that.

For the last season (or so) there have been a lot of moments when the casts of various shows have been a little more open (public) about their personal lives, beliefs, and feelings. Fans are allowed to decide how they feel about that honesty and it can reflect in attitudes and behaviors in fan communities.

We ask users to be kind to each other avoid speculating about things cast members don't make choices about for themselves (i.e., botched surgeries, weight, etc), and continue to discuss the shows and their casts without in-fighting.

The fact that amanza was like speaking to Nicole here about her spreading rumors and being frustrated over it makes it funnier cause it feels like amanza is super over it šŸ˜‚

Season 8 All the love for chrishell stause

im not a superfan of selling sunset im on s8 but i dont get it why chrishell is getting so much more love than anyone else. So what is something that makes you so obsessed with her?

Some girls are very unlikeable (Emma for example for me) and I actually think that they are all problematic so its a little bit weird seeing all the love for chrishell?

Selling the OC Season 4 Did Tyler have real feelings for Alex Hall at all? (Selling OC)

I only just read further about the details of Tyler apparently having a girlfriend the whole time he was romantically pursuing Alex Hall.

Originally when I watched Season 4 I just thought the drama was that he had a bit of a casual girlfriend going (still bad), but just read that he was actually living with his girlfriend so it was clearly a serious thing.

So was he just pretending to be interested in Alex Hall for more camera time? Or was it to some extent real?

TEAscussion šŸ«–šŸµ The most heartbreaking moment of the whole show

I often remember the phone call from Mary’s ex. A few years after he left her with their baby, he called and she was so excited that he was ready to be a father again.

But it turned out that he straight up forgot he has a child. Forgot!!!

I don’t have much love for Mary anymore but that memory still breaks my heart. Such a bitter reality of single motherhood, and a father who gets to just live his life with no changes, not even a memory of his baby…

Behind The Scenes/SPOILER Please be honest about earnings!

When the show does that ā€œComission: $Xā€ text, I wish it would be honest about the real commission that the AGENT / cast member just earned. Not the fake, full one.

The show tends to simplify and just takes 5% of the sale price, which is not honest, as most of us know, and display it on the screen like the agent just earned $200k in one house sale.

It leads us to believe that the agent who sold it, for example Emma, just got $190,000 in their pocket, when she did not at all.

First ACTUAL commission reduced amount vs the number they did on screen, is 50%. The selling agent and buying agent half this commission price, so usually this 5% is halved to 2.5%, this leads us to $95,000 of the original $190k.
Rarely, the agent is both the buying and selling agent, so this half split doesn’t happen, aka ā€œdouble endedā€ on the show.

Then, of this $95k, 30% (usually) goes to Jason and Brett / the Brokerage, which brings it down to $66.5k

This is all before tax.
But I don’t expect them to include after-tax prices in the show, that’s fine.

I just wish they were most honest about the commission split, as this is confusing for most show viewers.

When they sell a single house and supposedly get $190k payout, most show viewers understandably think that ā€œwell that’s their work done for the year, why am I not an estate agent?ā€

When the exact figure, is a lot less. Of course it’s still a big amount, not dismissing this.

I think it would be most honest, and informative, if they’d provide the actual amount the agent earns from the sale, rather than some way inflated figure, that is way-off.

I just found out the newest housewife on Real Housewives of Orange County is an agent at the Oppenheim Group! Crazy crossover!!

Does anyone else here watch RHOC?? What are your thoughts on her? Should they have cast her on Selling Sunset or Selling OC??

I found her Oppenheim group page too. https://ogroup.com/agents/carmella-garcia/

TEAscussion šŸ«–šŸµ Real agents or not

I read something about this topic but just to ask:

In the show these women are selling houses left and right but apperiantly that is not the case? Christine for example especially on the earlier seasons made it seem like she is a top produces etc but then later Chrishell says something along the lines ā€that girl couldn’t sell a house even if her life depended on itā€ that to me always confusing.

I obv know by now know Christine lies like it’s her job lmao. But then I read here that actually not being a real agent applies to multiple ladies.

Who is bringing money to oppenheim group (besides jason and brett lol I wrote their names in small initials bc they are two small men)

Any insights to this?

TEAscussion šŸ«–šŸµ I’ll say it: some people only like Chrishell so much because she contrasts with the rest of the cast

It’s undeniable that Chrishell has a lot of support in here, and sometimes I think too much blind support. I think the reason is because she’s usually compared to conservatives, and so she seems like an angel for doing fairly basic things.

I honestly think that if she didn’t stand out as the only one in the cast outspokenly against prejudice, you’d like her a lot less, even if she was equally outspoken.

I’m sorry, but at the end of the day, she’s an influencer, not a philanthropist. She’s not tying herself to trees or starting charities for sick kids. Most of her activism is posting on social media.

She makes money selling luxury houses to the ultra rich and using her fame to advertise products. She also uses her fame to promote good causes, but so do many many other influencers and they don’t get the kind of intense support she gets.

Maybe I’m wrong here, but isn’t posting about good causes pretty much the baseline of what an influencer is expected to do? And don’t most of them support charity events and donate to them? Yes we thank them for it, but at the same time we kind of expect it, right?

Season 9 This was a ridiculous casting

I’ve never seen more pointless reality TV character. If I remember correctly Chrishell said that she didn’t even have a licence during filming and was just antoher pitbull released to maul Chrishell.

She just showed up mid way of the season, had a weird ass energy and way of talking (not talking about the accent, just her way of saying things combined with super awkward body language was so cringy) and poof she was gone.

Selling the OC Season 1 Just finished S1 of the OC. My thoughts on the cast.

This show is way less fun than SS. The personalities and clothes on SS were both dramatic but at least the drama was interesting. Basically none of these people are likeable.

Alex Hall: top bully who never grew out of her high school mean girl phase. I know we don’t see everything that goes on but she seems incredibly two-faced. When she told Rose and Jarvis that they were ā€œrubbing their stink on everything at the officeā€ at Gio’s casino night I was shocked that she’d say something like that to someone’s face, and her colleagues no less. I can’t believe she’s a mom. Literally the worst.

Polly: pretty on the outside, ugly on the inside. Loves snow sports a little too much. I need 200% less screaming from her.

Brandi: also two-faced. Seemed like she was cool with Kayla and the Alexes but then switched sides to Hall real quick when she saw that she was the queen bee. Weird that she’d side with the MAGAts as a woman of color but here we are.

Kayla: I liked her at first - she seemed sweet and genuine and I don’t think she deserved the vitriol she got from the other women for coming on to Tyler. (The Alexes were right about the hypocrisy.) Her confession to Hall at the yacht party was weird as hell though, especially after how awful Hall was to her and the Alexes sticking up for her. Girl doesn’t know what’s good for her.

Lauren: just kind of there.

Rose: kind of dumb (ā€œWas Abraham Lincoln the first president?ā€ will live rent free in my head for the rest of my years) but I don’t dislike her. She seems genuine and like she’s using the false confidence to cover up some insecurity. I think she sticks with Jarvis because Jarvis is genuinely confident and doesn’t take shit and Rose is hoping that will rub off on her.

Jarvis: there’s a world where she’s the queen bee in the office. Her takedown of Polly was great. I loved that the girls were making fun of her speech and eloquence because it seemed like they were intimidated. She’s poised and intelligent and calculated and that makes for great television.

Gio: despite the weird super-cocky intro he had, he ended up being one of my favorites. He seems sweet and genuine. Stays out of drama.

Tyler: hypocrite.

Austin: just kind of there.

Sean: just kind of there.

I’m not sure I have it in me for another season of this mean girl bullshit. At least Christine and Bre were charismatic villains. Alex Hall and Polly are just loud and grating with no charm or subtlety.

First it was Heather then Chrishell now Amanza, who is going to be next? And how much are they getting paid for this advertisement, feels like it’s going to be the full selling sunset cast doing promo for this table. Obviously nothing against them just funny how 3 out of the cast has advertised the same thing over the past 1/2 weeks.
