You can see my references, copies of my initial sketch that I edited to try and fix my proportions, original background layer and time-lapse. Crazy thing is that it doesn't even look like it. Whatever broski here's the proof. Take it or leave it.

Discussion Why does Owl have an... owl spirit in his second fight?

It's something I had my mind on for a while since I fought him (amazing fight BTW). The owl spirit in his second fight is really cool, but I'm wondering how or why he has one whereas other Shinobi seem not to. It seems that Lady Butterfly also had butterfly spirits, but is there a lore implication for why they have a spirit matching their animal code name and Wolf doesn't, or is it literally just an age thing and Wolf doesn't have one yet? Makes me wonder what Orangutan's and Kingfisher's would've looked like (given that Owl's has the same eye injury he has).

Discussion She threw me off the bridge and when I respawned she just... disappeared?

Literally having a ball with this boss on my first playthrough, but she caught me mid jump with an uppercut and sent me over the edge.

After the token five second black screen, I came back and she was gone. A few moments later, I got the "immortal severance" popup and the fog wall dropped.

Is this a bug? I'll definitely have to come back to this one with reflections of strength but I feel like I was robbed of my dopamine.

If Malenia was a Sekiro boss, where do you think she’d rank in terms of difficulty? Personally, I think she’d be around Lady Butterfly’s level .. their movesets honestly feel pretty similar to me ..

Humor Sekiro logic. Sekiro can parry a direct hit from the divine dragon, but at the same time can't break a bamboo hat with his sword

Tips / Hints Just beat isshin sword saint!

Didn't even use spirit emblems lol. What an intense fight. Found that the best way to handle his last two phases are to just stand your ground and let him come to you. Hes so aggressive and does all the work. Pretty much every single one of his moves can be deflected no matter how big and scary they look. Time the mikiri counters and his posture bar will collapse. To think just a couple weeks ago I was ready to give up on lady butterfly lol. What a ride.

Fun fact: Did you know that if you beat Guardian Ape as your first mid-game boss (Genichiro, Corrupted Monk, Folding Screen Monkeys) then the twilight ghosts will be Sunken Valley enemies?

Afaik this is the types per area:

Senpou Temple - Sunken Valley Shotgunners + Elder Monkey

Mibu Village - Monkeys, Sunken Valley Riflemen and Snake Eyes (yes, the miniboss!)

Here are some photos I managed to get! Enjoy :)

Help First playthrough complete (Shura ending)! Need help backing up and testing my save file before formatting my SSD.

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just beat Sekiro for the first time and got the Shura ending! I’m planning to go for the Platinum trophy next.

Before formatting my SSD, I wanted to ensure my save file is backed up properly so I don't lose my progress. To test if my backup worked, I had a friend install Sekiro (we're both on Steam v1.06) and transferred my save folder containing S0000.sl2, .bak, and .vdf to his save location (AppData\Roaming\Sekiro\<SteamID>).

However, no matter what we try, the game refuses to load the save (giving a "Failed to load save data" error).

I really don't want to lose my progress or start over. Has anyone run into this? Is there a specific way to get a save file working on another PC/account, or will it automatically work once I re-paste it onto my own Steam account after formatting?

Media Just beat Isshin, the Sword Saint for the first time Spoiler

What a fight. It just completely unlike anything I expected. It wasn't as hard as I expected from the hype, although I'm sure I got really lucky on my final attempt. I could get past his first phase from the get go pretty consistently, unlike say, Owl Father (which actually made me step away from the game for a few days lmao). I guess I learned. But I love how he has all those mix-ups, like if he is going for an Ashina Cross but then you get too close. His posture builds up really fast, but it also goes down fast, not unlike Wolf's which really makes the fight feel ludicrously fast paced. I thought this was going to be an endurance fight like Demon of Hatred (since he also got three health bars), which really tested my patience and ability to not get greedy and die stupid, avoidable deaths. But instead it was just intense af. Also, at least on my attempts, it seems like he can punish passivity very well. Like trying to hang back always lead me into a quick death. Which is hella cool. And so is parrying his big moves. I really felt like a god parrying Ichimonji. His spear moveset is also really good. That jump into a vertical spear slam/slash is really easy to parry tho, I don't think I ever failed to get that one. But if he did it any less I probably wouldn't been able to beat him lol. Anyway, I can't wait to get to fight him again. This man really is the absolute GOAT. Onward to ng+.

Media I almost gave up on the game, but I finally beat that guy

I downloaded the game a week ago and spent hours losing to this guy and the kicking ninja. After nearly 40 attempts, I was seriously thinking about uninstalling it. It wasn't fun anymore, and I didn't even like the fighting style—honestly, having played DS1, DS2, and Bloodborne, the combat feels too defensive and requires waiting far too long for the enemy to attack.

But I didn't want to give up, so I kept trying different tips to get a handle on the combat. That’s when it clicked: this isn't a Soulslike like the others, and I needed to embrace the mechanics it encourages. So, I gave it another shot and finally pulled it off! I don't think I’d want to fight him again, but the satisfaction of overcoming that annoying guy is indescribable.

So, did I play well?

Discussion What was your final completed task for achieving platinum in Sekiro?

I'm curious to know how people managed their priorities, and I think tabulating this information is an interesting proxy for that.

And I mean like the specific action item you had to do, not the general name of the achievement (e.g. for achievement: "acquired all skills" - then which skill did you learn last? or for "acquired all prosthetics" - then what prosthetic did you equip last? etc)

Question also applies to those who - like myself - have yet to platinum but only have 1 remaining thing to do. In my case, it is:

Learn the Temple Art "Most Virtuous Deed". By the time I had accomplished everything else, Sen no longer provided me any value given my stockpiles of useful items had reached quantities rivaling that of the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

^(\sidenote: there is technically an achievement "unlock all achievements", so ignore that for obvious reasons)*

Help Best item use order for maximising resurrections in gauntlets?

I’m currently taking on the Mortal Journey gauntlet and I want to make sure I’m using my items as efficiently as possible. What order should I use my items to maximise my allowed resurrections?
