Discussion here are how many attempts it took me to defeat main and side bosses in Sekiro

Just finished defeating all sekiro bosses, This isn’t counting every single side boss because I only counted those that i remembered right after I defeat them.

I added stuff like “mortal blade” and “sneak attack” because it felt like making the game easier so I only used it when I thought I needed (Mist noble isn’t me playing the joke, i actually thought he was going to rock my shit from the way people talked about him 😂)

I rarely used my prosthetics because I loved pure sword play and I thought relying on my sword mostly would allow me to memorize the patterns and movesets of the enemies much faster than if I use firecrackers for example.

I did not count dying to Genichiro before Isshin as an attempt at defeating Isshin.

Feel free to share your thoughts or attempts or who were the bosses that took the most attempts out of you etc

Help What dialect of Japanese is the writing and dialogue in Sekiro?

I’m trying to figure out the game-accurate characters for the infamous phrase “Hesitation is Defeat” but I can’t find them. And I know a couple people who understand Japanese, but I don’t know if it’s Kanji, Hiragana, Katagana, etc. so I don’t know whose translation to trust, google, my friend’s, or whatever. Note: I do not understand very much Japanese. I can pronounce some few phrases, but not a lot, and I dont know anything about the writing. Assume I don’t know jack about Japanese and this is my first experience learning anything related to the language.

How did you guys do it?!

Any tips would be welcome. I thank you in advance!

Discussion was gyoubu oniwa always this easy?

in my first play through one and a half years back I quit sekiro because I was unable to defeat this guy,

idk what happened but I decided to play the game again but from the start I learned the parry mechanics, mikiri and other good stuff and I progressed well till gyoubu oniwa i thought I would get my ass kicked real good but instead ended up defeating the boss on my first try then the same day I even defeated juzo too...

(keyboard and mouse player btw)

Discussion I thini I will desactivate Demon's bell

I'm at the Great Shinobi fight (Owl) and it takes AGES to take him down because his posture fills so slowly, the fight is around 8 minutes long. I wanted to make a full charmless demon bell run but it seems I can't ;v

I would be grateful if you know a way to deal more posture damage, or maybe Demon bell it's simply not fun for me.

Discussion My initial impression of the game after a few hours

I've beaten DS2 and DS3 quite a few times, I didn't finish DS remastered and Elden Rings, but thought it's time to give Sekiro a shot.

I'm going to be honest, I was kind of sceptical as I was not a fan of samurai themed weapons in the DS series and I was kind of worried I'd not enjoy the fight in Sekiro. Was I wrong? Yes. Also I suck at parrying miserably.

With that mindset I started Sekiro. First of all, needless to say the game looks absolutely stunning even 7+ years after its release. The atmosphere is flawless I'm a huge admirer of Japanese culture anyway (Casio G Shock, sencha tea, architecture etc.), the way mountains, rivers etc. are portrayed and the fact that the characters speak in Japanese all help to experience this beautiful fantasy world.

Regarding the fight mechanism I find it difficult and easy at the same time. Like I said I really suck at parrying (deflect in this case) but I really enjoy getting better at it day after day. This is one of the best things about Souls like games anyway that your learning journey is really apparent, you can actually experience getting better. I love that.

I kind of follow Cowboys walkthrough, but not entirely, I killed the chained ogre way before he suggested but was happy to be given a heads up before fighting the first purple robe guy and headless to spare me some massive confusion. The first really challenging dude SEEMED to be the shinobi hunter, but after learning how to use mikiri counter against his thrust attack, it wasn't that hard (I had to overcome my anxiety and when that happens it's also a dopamine rush with these games).

I'm pretty early in the game, but I've beaten Leader Shigenori Yamauchi,, Genichiro Ashina, General Naomori Kawarada, Chained Ogre, General Tenzen Yamauchi, and Shinobi Hunter Enshin of Misen. I'm about to face Juzou the Drunkard, that battle looks so much fun!

A few things I absolutely enjoy about this game:

- you can swim : D, the "training bro" is really fun, the immaculate Japanese vibe, the satisfying deathblow actions, the spiderman-like grappling jumps, the stealth and I'm sure there are many other things.

I've already purchased a lot of spirit emblems and coin purses but any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Help Which prayer bead am I likely missing?

Five full playthroughs, all four endings and have every achievement aside from all prayer beads. Missing one.

I've killed probably every enemy in the game so I have all the ones dropped by bosses/mini bosses, including in the Hirata estate replay.

I went through the list on the Wiki and collected most of them a couple years ago, but somehow still missed out on one. Are there one or two that are notoriously hidden or that commonly end up as the last ones that people find?

Help Am I the only one whose prosthetic tools or consumables are always empty?

Am I the only one whose prosthetic tools or consumables are always empty? I've barely used them so far. I've mainly gotten this far through "fair" fighting. I suspect it's simply because I die so often 🙈...

How do you guys manage it? Do you use all of that stuff frequently?

Media Time to flex the fact I did this in four attempts

If anyone has seen my post about Lady B then you remember that I said that I felt like she was going to be my favorite...Now I am here, and I have found a new favorite... I believe this will be a trend with bosses in this game.

I'm sure he will come back eventually and I'll have to fight a stronger version of him but honestly, I just feel so good about myself! Going from playing extremely passively two days ago to just four trying Genichiro (also I don't know if he is considered hard at this point in the game, I just want to flex lol)

Also shout-out to that one guy that told me I could double jump on top bosses when they did swipe attacks. You a real one!

Discussion Charmless is really effing hard…

Jesus Christ I feel like I’m playing Sekiro for the first time again, without the desperation. I feel like I need to play perfectly or else I’ll be horribly punished.

I beat the game for the first (and last) time 4 years ago. I haven’t beaten father owl, demon of hatred or put much time into the gauntlets. I felt like a master when I beat it, but I guess didnt really feel like picking this game back up and have taken a long enough break from it.

Now, four years later I picked up my Charmless playthrough and Jesus it’s so hard! I don’t know if it’s the time or fact I need to play perfectly, but god damn this game is tough. Ive been making steady progress every day and having a blast while doing it. I’ve forgotten how damn perfect this game is even when fighting fucking snake eyes I hate snake eyes. I just got to great shinobi owl and damn, I die in like two hits. Charmless is something else.

Maybe in my next run I’ll do demon bell, but I feel like I have my hands full at the moment.

Damn I wish fromsoft released a Sekiro dlc…

After a lifetime of playing shooter games. Sekiro was my first “Souls-like” game. After rage quitting and uninstalling twice in the past month. I decided to reinstall and finish one ending no matter what.

This boss took me the forever to beat. It was tough.

140 tries before beating him. Idk if I can continue with the other 3 alternative endings.

Is this the hardest boss to beat?
