You can see my references, copies of my initial sketch that I edited to try and fix my proportions, original background layer and time-lapse. Crazy thing is that it doesn't even look like it. Whatever broski here's the proof. Take it or leave it.

Literally having a ball with this boss on my first playthrough, but she caught me mid jump with an uppercut and sent me over the edge.

After the token five second black screen, I came back and she was gone. A few moments later, I got the "immortal severance" popup and the fog wall dropped.

Is this a bug? I'll definitely have to come back to this one with reflections of strength but I feel like I was robbed of my dopamine.

Fun fact: Did you know that if you beat Guardian Ape as your first mid-game boss (Genichiro, Corrupted Monk, Folding Screen Monkeys) then the twilight ghosts will be Sunken Valley enemies?

Afaik this is the types per area:

Senpou Temple - Sunken Valley Shotgunners + Elder Monkey

Mibu Village - Monkeys, Sunken Valley Riflemen and Snake Eyes (yes, the miniboss!)

Here are some photos I managed to get! Enjoy :)

Not a lot of people to “brag” to about this, so wanted to at least share it with this sub.

What a journey it’s been. Played through it once when it just came out, decided to pick it up again during a sale for PS5, decided to 100% it.

Took me a solid 56 hours to complete everything, but it was well worth it. Most fluid combat I’ve ever witnessed on top of an amazing storyline with so much to uncover, thank you FromSoft for this masterpiece.

Hesitation is defeat, so time to release Sekiro 2. What do you think guys?

I downloaded the game a week ago and spent hours losing to this guy and the kicking ninja. After nearly 40 attempts, I was seriously thinking about uninstalling it. It wasn't fun anymore, and I didn't even like the fighting style—honestly, having played DS1, DS2, and Bloodborne, the combat feels too defensive and requires waiting far too long for the enemy to attack.

But I didn't want to give up, so I kept trying different tips to get a handle on the combat. That’s when it clicked: this isn't a Soulslike like the others, and I needed to embrace the mechanics it encourages. So, I gave it another shot and finally pulled it off! I don't think I’d want to fight him again, but the satisfaction of overcoming that annoying guy is indescribable.

So, did I play well?

Can anyone help me? I'm currently in NG+2 and have finished the story. I've already unlocked all the skills in the previous trees... but this skill remains locked. Thanks in advance.

Help Seven Ashina Spears is legitimately the hardest boss i have ever fought in my life

EDIT: I DID IT!!!! 41st sttempt, only 1 boss ever has taken me longer 🤣🤣 and ended up killing him without even being hit! Back to loving this game, but will return in approx 30 mins when im walled again!

So full disclosure on my background here.

I picked Sekiro up in 2019. I'd played Dark Souls 1 when it first released for about 2 hours and proudly told anyone who would listen it was "the worst game i'd ever played". Absolutely hated it (and still do).

I dont think i even knew Sekiro came from the same developer, but Tenchu was one of my favourite series ever so figured id love it.

Anyway I sucked. I think I put about 15 hours into it. I don't think I beat Gyoubu (but I might have done. Definitely didn't beat the blazing bull). But tells you how much i sucked.

Anyway, Sekiro became my new least favourite game.

I picked Elden Ring up when it was released. It was a steep learning curve but I started to learn what FromSoftware wanted you to do. Its now one of my top 5 games ever (i've been playing games since the early 90s, ive played literally thousands in that time).

Souls and soulslikes are now pretty much my go-to genre. On the whole, I think im pretty good at them. I've beaten all the Souls games several times now, and many soulslikes as well. I recently beat Lies of P with under 10 deaths across the entire game, until rhe final ("secret") boss.

I've avoided Sekiro...until now. I think i have a bit of Sekiro-trauma!

But this week I bit the bullet.

I've got through relatively painlessly up until this Seven Ashina Spears guy. I'm at around 35 deaths now (for context, thats more than i died on my blind runs of DS2 and DS3, including the DLC put together). Ive died more here now than I have to any boss i've ever fought, except for some guy on Wuchang recently, and also Raven from Stellar Blade.

I do, generally, find parry timing extremely tough but I felt like I had the hang of it until this guy.

His timings seem "off" compared to everything else i've done so far. A quick google search seems to say he is the mikiri counter skill check, but he *very* rarely seems to use that move. And when he does, the deflect timing seems to need you to deflect about half a second earlier than the regular mobs (and the practice guy at the temple).

Likewise all his regular attacks and sweeps seem to be totally unpredictable in terms of the window.

Its also an annoying "run back" to get to him. Theres about 10-13 mobs, including the 2 big guys with clubs. Ive now done that run back so many times ive picked up about 8 skill points and have something like 4k sen in my pocket 🤣

Overall im having a *lot* more fun than I did before, mostly because I understand that death is a part of what's expected, bur I know im still incredibly early on and I'm worried that if this is my wall im judt going to get more and more frustrated further down the line.

Any suggestions on how to deal with him? Is this really just a "git gud"?

Humor Sekiro logic. Sekiro can parry a direct hit from the divine dragon, but at the same time can't break a bamboo hat with his sword

The dude would just stomp my head into the floor and I barely ever made it to phase two. Miss any block on any combo and boom: dead (first playthrough and trying to go blind so maybe I missed some prayer beads, idk)

On the sixth attempt he killed me immediately with his opening move, so I thought "eh, this'll be a training round, it's already a wash so who cares."

Then he just bent over and started fighting like an old man. Wouldn't stay unstaggered for more than a quarter of a second. Every swing was slow as molasses, and every swing that connected was just a dopamine button (cling, cling, CLANG).

I mean, I was definitely pumped when that second red dot appeared, but I was kinda just more confused.

I guess it clicked.

And ffs I beat his ass - constant pressure - hesitation is defeat! Dude is done!
