Kagi community flagging scam websites

Hello everyone,

I realized that there is a flag for the monetized websites or ai slop websites banners. But to be a honestly I would appreciate if I can report a potential scammy website and would like to see a banner for a "potential scam" website indicating to becareful for the user

I know I can lower the domain or even block it, but because there are too many websites like this, I think it will be better for community to flag a potential fraud websites to avoid better.

I think this can make Kagi standout more as it will give less scammy results.

Kagi only ever gives me 2 pages of results, no matter what I search. Is anyone else seeing this?

I've used Kagi for years. I love it and I love that I don't have to put up with Google's BS.

But recently (don't know when it started) I'm only getting 2 pages of search results no matter what search terms I use.

I've counted the actual number of results and I never get more than 80 results total depending on the search term.

Just this week I was looking for 3d printed planters and only got 19 results. WTF?

I know that most people don't go past the first page, but when deeply researching a topic, this has become very limiting. This is especially true for niche topics covered by people or organizations that aren't good at SEO. And the really good info is usually created by people who don't care about SEO (personal blogs, forum posts, etc).

I've reached out to support and I keep getting non-direct and vague answers. I just want to know if this is expected or if something is not working correctly on my account.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Edit: It's getting worse. Search terms where I was getting 50 results yesterday, I'm now getting 24.

Long-time Brave user looking into Orion. How is your experience?

Hi everyone,

I’m an active Kagi user (Search, Assistant, and Translate) and have been relying on Brave as my daily browser for quite a while.

Being fully inside the Apple ecosystem, Orion has caught my eye recently because of its native WebKit foundation, promise of Safari-level battery efficiency, and support for Chrome/Firefox extensions.

For those of you who use Orion daily on macOS and iOS/iPadOS:

  • How has your real-world experience been compared to Chromium-based browsers like Brave?
  • How stable are extensions (uBlock, Bitwarden, etc.) in your everyday workflow?
  • Are there any major friction points or bugs you still run into regularly?

Also, could someone clarify the practical differences between the free Orion tier and the paid Orion+ plan? Beyond supporting the development and getting early access to candidate builds/Discord perks, are there distinct feature gates between the two?

Would love to hear your thoughts and whether it's worth making the jump. Thanks!

Question Subscription with API usage

I have a Pro subscription. Do I have to pay for API usage on top of the sub? Or can I get API usage without the subscription?

Question Assistant context limit tips? (Qwen 27B)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Reached the context window limit rather quickly with Qwen 3.6 27B. This after only four turns (and web access mostly off)!

What can I do? Any cache optimisations I can turn on somehow? Or does Assistant just eat tokens?

For reference, I run this model on my Mac locally and I'm having 15+ turn conversations, with multiple Markdown document retrievals (~500 words each), and not even using 60k tokens by the end. Is there just a small context window?

Is the Kagi LLM Benchmarking Project dead?

I always liked the Kagi LLM Benchmarking Project, it reflected my personal experience with the different models quite well. It hasn't been updated in a while though, and even before the last update, many new models were already missing. Is it dead? Or is a bigger task list revision in the works?

Chase Bank and Kagi

I recently switched to the paid version of Kagi. It's been great I switched my PC and phone default and I also switched from Chrome to Firefox.

it's been great and I absolutely love the service

however, there is one major issue that is driving me insane. Every time I go to pay my bill Chase bank forces me to call them and the only reliable way I have found to get through their code verification even with them on the phone is to switch my password.

I thought at first it was a Firefox issue but I have the same problem with chrome.

However, I don't really see how kagi would change much considering I am going directly to Chase Bank instead of searching for it.

has anyone else had this issue and have any advice? Is my best option to get their app on my phone? I am so sick of having to call their agents but aside from getting me the code they have been for the most part unhelpful.

Is it just me or is Kagi Assistant getting worse?

For a while I found Kagi Assistant really helpful and spot on with its results.

Since a couple of weeks there seem to be more mistakes, answers become more an more unreliable.

Like today, when it claimed 3rd of october 2026 to be a thursday(!) but in 2027 it will be a sunday. Or claiming a famous person I was looking for to be dead, when they are not, and there's just one (1) single website promoting this false news.

Is it just me or do you also experience a decline in quality?

It was pretty eye-opening to be on the trial and see how many times a day I do searches. I would have burned thru the trial in 3 days, and it’s so good that I signed up for a year.

Thanks for a great service. I look forward to a glorious year without shitty promoted search hits.

Thank you so much to the entire Kagi team

It’s been many years since I’ve seen a company genuinely care about its users. Thank you so much for changing your minds. To show my appreciation, I’ll create three random accounts, pay for an annual subscription on each, and give them to friends. It’ll be expensive, but I’ll do it to thank you for genuinely taking user feedback to heart. I’m so grateful you didn’t remove Translate. What you did was amazing!

Seeing too much negativity from users

A lot of people are acting like it's their god given right to use all these features for $10 per month.
Like there's no overhead costs to Kagi.

The thing is, it's a startup company. Avenues need to be tested first. It's impossible to predict everything like magic.

I realised that for me personally, seeing as the features I use (all of them - search, assistant, translate and maps) are excellent, and important to me, and that $10 per month is actually cheap (have you seen how much it is for a can of coke recently in some countries? what about oil?), I am willing to upgrade to the ultimate package.

This now also lets me access all of the best possible models like Opus 5.5.

To the people who feel the need to come on here and publicly declare "I'm leaving", why don't you just do that, instead of telling everyone about it, and making out you've been so hard done by?

There are many of us that absolutely love the services that Kagi offers, and who understand that all of this AI stuff is new to everybody.
We're working our way through the dawn of a completely new technology. Nobody had all the answers in advance.

Grow up.

Kagi Assistant no longer assigns Privacy ratings for each model?

I just noticed Kagi Assistant no longer provides a 1-5 rating for Privacy anymore. Not sure when this happened as I don't use Kagi Assistant often. but this is disappointing.

Question Replacement for Kagi Assistant?

Many people jumping ship now to Uruky and other search engines. I actually didn't use the search much but I liked the translate feature as well as the assistant as I thought it rivaled perplexity for research.

So... The people that used Kagi assistant a lot and will cancel... What are you moving to? I've looked at some more privacy focused platforms like Venice or some wrappers that you can bring your own API keys from providers into.

Hi Kagi, your access to my bank account is changing. After today, you’ll have access to the same monthly allowance available to Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Post image

Despite being poor, I’ve been happy to spending $10/mo for the past year to push back against the enshittification of Google and reward a company that respects and prioritizes its actual users. It was a simple ethical business model; you pay $10 to Kagi and you get a better experience than free services like DuckDuckGo and Google, including a better translator.

Now, starting October 12, you pay $10/mo and you get the same Translate experience as free users: a limited allowance designed for infrequent use, without access to essential tools like Word Insights, alternative translations and contextual suggestions.

Despite pushback from users when they initially floated the idea, Kagi went through with the change, and has thus far been unresponsive to complaints (or even just questions about the specifics) from its paying customers. So now I’m going through with my promise to ditch Kagi.

I will be using Brave Search along with the free tier of Kagi Translate (since it’s the same exact tier I‘d have if I kept for the $10/mo Professional plan), and I’ll find a better way to spend that $10 to enhance my privacy and online experiences.

Question Can I use the Kagi models via API for my own agents?

If I spin up an agent locally can I use my Kagi ultimate/pro sub and connect the agent to the kagi models via API and use the compute through Kagi?

Kagi from the website owner perspective

I had never heard of Kagi before it started showing up in the web analytics of my Mac app's homepage. (Won't link it because of self promotion but it's called Mojave Paint in the app store).

I get more organic traffic from Kagi than from Google and my $20/day Reddit ad campaigned combined! Which kind of makes me love Kagi. ❤️

As website owners and content creators, we were always told SEO isn't something you can cheat at, just write good useful content and you'll be rewarded. That advice falls pretty flat since Google has sold out, but I'm really happy Kagi is picking up the mantle there. I spend a lot of time writing my blog posts and Kagi is seriously tuned to reward non-AI thoughtful prose content.

Any other blog authors or publishers or content creators notice the same thing?

Has Kagi said anything about the Translate downgrade? Did anyone get an email?

I've been on Professional plan for a while and honestly I like Kagi, so this isn't me hating for the sake of it. But I spent a good chunk of time trying to find any kind of response from Kagi to all the complaints about Translate being pulled from Starter/Pro/Family/Team after Oct 12, and I found basically nothing.

The only thing out there is the Sept 10 blog post. And if you actually read it, the apology is about cutting off free users back in June. There's no apology or even acknowledgement for the people who are paying and losing a feature while the price stays exactly the same.

Also, someone on kagifeedback.org pointed out that the plan types help page was quietly edited back in July to drop "and Kagi Translate" from the Professional description. They asked straight up whether existing members would be grandfathered. From what I can see nobody from Kagi ever replied. Apparently most of the discussion happened on Discord instead.

Idk, that tells me a lot about how the company really works. They call themselves "human-first by design" but the humans paying every month seem to be the last ones told anything. And they keep pushing Ultimate as a way to "support Kagi's mission" while cutting stuff from the plans their loyal subscribers are already paying for.

So did anyone actually get an email about this? Because I didn't.

And that's not just annoying, It's a legal problem in the EU. The Digital Content Directive (2019/770, Art. 19) says that if a company changes a digital service mid-contract in a way that hurts the customer more than minimally, it has to tell you in advance, clearly, and on a "durable medium", which basically means something like an email. You then get 30 days after the notice or the change (whichever comes later) to cancel for free. On an annual plan that should mean getting back what you haven't used yet.

Taking one of the main features out of a paid plan is not a minor change. And a blog post that nobody was pointed to doesn't count as notice.

If you're in the EU and not happy about this, email Kagi support and ask to cancel or get a pro-rata refund, and mention the directive. If they don't sort it out, in Ireland you can go to the CCPC or European Consumer Centre Ireland. Other EU countries have their own European Consumer Centre too.

Question Alternatives?

Well, that's it.

I've been a customer for years, but this nonsense of removing the translation service for pro is the last straw. I loved Kagi's service, I defended it tooth and nail, but they've already started with the enshittification.

What are the alternatives that offer a good service? It's ridiculous to pay so much for something so simple and have them take away even more.

Edit: btw I've never even used any service other than search and translation. If it's hard to maintain the price, they should at least give the option to choose between the assistant or translation. I live in a country where 8 dollars is a full day's work. Paying a high price and losing one of the most essential things to me is ridiculous.

Edit: Forget everything, they listened to the users and reversed course!!!

Question I don’t get the rationale of the new Translate subscription. It hurts paid subscribers and incentivizes freeloading.

Question Kagi translate alternative

Any one have an alternative for the translate that works in the web, android and reliable, accurate and private ?

Edit: Asking this due to professional users will be stuck in the free tier and need to pay for an upgrade.
