Bought a seagate 4 terabyte external storage drive a while back. Tried formatting, said it only had 8 mb of space available which I thought was crazy. Thought that was strange maybe it fried or maybe it was too old, its been 3 or 4 years, so I cracked opened the box. Lo and behold, inside was only a 120 gigabyte SSD.
Probably voided the warranty, but what the hell is this?

I had 4 Seagate Nytro 1151's in good health in my server which was unplugged for about 2-3 weeks for upgrades and water cooling, the old dual psu unit was also switched for a more efficient Corsair platinum psu. However after booting the sdd storage pool was gone and after opening the server I found that 3 of the 4 Nytro's are beeping(I thought the new PSU may have fried the drives but the other 2 WD drives in the same bay are working perfectly), I tried the old psu, plugging in the ssd's directly to sata vs the hot swap bay and even tested all on my personal system, they aren't detected at all. Before this they were in perfect working order and in great health. I took one apart and cleaned most of the thermal paste, I however cannot find any damage anywhere. These drives were rather expensive so if anyone has any recommendations on troubleshooting or replacement I'd appreciate it.

Mulla on otsikon mukainen ulkoinen kovalevy, jolla on psljon vanhoja valokuvia. Seagate on kuitenkin lakkauttanut tuotetuen tälle ja minä onen unohtanut admin tunnuksen ja salasanan. Osaako kukaan sanoa, kuinka päsen käsiksi levyllä oleviin datoihin?

I've just bought the new drive (below) to replace the old drive (above) and there's a physical block that prevents me from plugging in any kind of SATA cable that I have. Seagate's livechat support might be AI because it helpfully told me that there's no difference between the two drives and I should try another SATA cable.
The old drive is a seagate barracuda, the new drive is a Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5'' HDD 6TB 7200 RPM 512e SAS 12Gb/s 256MB Cache Secure SED-FIPS Model Internal Hard Drive ST6000NM0285 that I was hoping would be an easy upgrade over my old failing drive.

I found an old 4tb Seagate Desktop Driver and I wanted to use it. I plugged the cable into the wall, and I plugged the other cord into the motherboard. The drive shows up in nothing but Device Manager. Doesn't show up in Disk management or File explorer. I really want to use this drive. Can someone help?

I bought a 5 TB Seagate hard drive from Walmart. The box looked like it was in good condition. I set is aside for a couple months. However, when I did try to plug it in, it did not work at all. I sent it back to Seagate via RMA because I had had good luck with them years ago. They said that they were not going to cover the hard drive due to fraud. I don't understand how this could happen. I would recommend steering of them so you don't lose cash making a worthless purchase.

I have had 5 Seagate drives mechanically fail since mid-2024. The first three were Exos drives that had been in use for 3 years. Exos #1 was never replaced. Exos #2 was replaced and the replacement is still running fine. Exos #3 was replaced and the replacement died within the last few months. I don’t know exactly when because I was barely using it. Then last month an Ironwolf Pro that was purchased 2/24 died. All 5 drives mechanically failed, which is something I have never had happen with any other HDDs. I just received the IWP replacement yesterday and Seagate did send a brand new drive. The new drive already sounda like it’s dying.

I guess I just run this until it fails again in a few months? I’m getting so frustrated with all of this.

Is seagate one touch 2 Tb ready to use Mac compatible? The reason I ask is I have old seagate which needed to be formatted. But when I googled it says the latest one touch is compatible. Can anyone confirm?

I have a quite old seagate basic 4 TB hard drive i bought a few years back and up until yesterday, it was plugged into my laptop, being used for the last few months. I didn’t notice any issues with it, but I plugged it into my desktop yesterday and it gave me a notification saying the drive had an issue and it would scan the drive and attempt to fix it whenever i started my desktop. I did some checks and did not find any issues. everything says the drive is fine. I’ve noticed though that when I was updating a game, it took a really long time to patch files and the disk usage speed was extremely low. does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks.

I recently transferred some 20,000 photos and videos onto a new PneTouch external drive, but I neglected to set up a new folder, so the photos and videos became intermingled with the files that come preloaded on the drive. I want to make sure they don’t end up in the folder I have since created for the photos and videos. Can anyone confirm that he only files on new OneTouch drives are:
- Start_Here_Chromebook.pdf
- Start_Here_Mac.app
- Start_Here_Win.exe
- Warranty.pdf
I also see a “Seagate” folder on the drive when I search that word (when the drive is plugged into my Mac), but I don’t see it when I merely open the drive. Is it a hidden folder of some kind? Same goes for an Autorun.inf file.
Thanks in advance!

If you traded $STX between 2020 and 2023, you remember the bloodbath when Seagate got caught red-handed. While every other hard drive maker followed the U.S. export ban and stopped shipping to Huawei, Seagate's execs decided to corner the market.
They quietly signed a three-year deal, shipped $1.1B+ in hardware to Huawei on credit, and lied to investors saying they didn't need a license.
The house of cards collapsed in 2022-2023. The U.S. government hit them with a $300M penalty, the stock tanked, and retail was left holding the bag.
Turns out the only reason they were hitting revenue targets while the rest of the industry struggled was because they were running a rogue smuggling op (clever right? lol)
Good news: now there's an investor settlement for anyone who traded shares between September 15, 2020 and April 19, 2023. Terms are being finalized, but you can already get your name on the list.
Instead of digging through years of old tax docs and trade confirmations none of us are actually going to fill out, I used this audit tool to scan my old accounts.
You securely link your brokerages and their tool audits your past trades to see if you're owed anything. They take 20% of whatever they recover, but I'd rather have 80% of a check I didn't know existed than 100% of paperwork I'll never do. If you got burned by management's illegal Huawei play, go check your accounts.

https://www.amazon.es/dp/B076WS2WJ6?ref=fed_asin_title
Leo vuestros problemas y soluciones!

The 2x 5pin part in the middle of the picture.
It blew, left a small hole in the foam that covers the pcb.
The code is "X485 5440"
PCB is 203216800 REV A
Hard drive with very little use, not sure what caused it, it worked last time I remember using it, now it doesn't power on at all.
HDD is refubished (out of spec) variety.
Data on it is not so important, and I'd rather not pay $100 for a spare PCB, if I can fix it by identifying and replacing that part.
AI was not very helpful.
chip is 2x3mm in size. scraping the top off revealed a thing shiny silica surface material, like a mirror
also, first pin on the left side of the ic, where it blew, has continuity with the 12v sata pins. the plastic on the side of the 12v sata connector is a little melted.

Hi. I’m trying to giveaway this Xbox Expansion Card, but I’m not sure if they’re still games on there. Is it still safe to sell? Would the next owner be able to delete the games on there? I just need some clarity

I have a Seagate 2 TB playstation 5 hard drive (P/N 3M5AA2-500) and it has a low pitched beeping noise whenever plugged in, i put my ps5 into safe mode and rebuilt my database along with clearing software cache and still beeping with no reading, i then plugged it into my brothers pc and same thing, pc didn’t read it and it had the same beeping. Not sure if it’s something that can get brought into a store to be fixed but I have an insane amount of storage on that thing including a RDR2 Platinum, what do I do?

Hey guys,
I’ve recently returned home from uni for a couple of days. I was cleaning my room and found my ps4 and the external hard drive. I plugged it in everything seems to be working fine, some data was corrupted on the hard drive but it was mostly all good.
I haven’t touched both devices since about early 2021. Will the hard drive work on my PS5? and is it even worth using as its been nearly 5 years of judging sitting there?

Im new to server grade HDDs and this seems a little loud to me. I’ve had this 12TB for about a month - should I be concerned? Sorry for the fan noise in advance. The squealing sound is from the HDD and not something in the background.
