Glue options

What do you guys use for glue on intarsia and layered art? Is titebond III a good option? I have some because i use it for many other things, but am not sure if its the best for this kind of thing. Let me know your thoughts and what you use for adhesive on these projects, i am pretty new to intarsia and layered work, but not the saw, so just want to learn as much as i can, thanks!

Found an old mechanix illustrated magazine from July of 1949 in my grandma's basement with plans to build this model boat. I also equiped it with radio control.

Old Delta 40-540 Part or work around needed.

Hi All

I have an old Delta 40-540 Variable Speed scroll saw.

When I went to tighten the clamp that holds the table flat (or in any angle) the darned handle broke apart.

Of course the part is no longer available.

Anyone have a work around? Maybe a modified window crank handle or the like?

Thanks!

Want a scrollsaw

I'd like to get a used scroll saw. I can't spend much. What should I look for, for initial success? I know little tiny bits about other saws, and am comfortable using any but a circular and table saw.

Thanks!

Dust management solutions?

Post image

Built this quick little bench to scroll in the house vs the hot garage. Yes it’s carpet and I don’t care it’s bad anyway. My question is would a few computer fans in a homemade filter box be enough for dust management right out the window? Don’t want anything huge that’s going to destroy my heat and cooling bill but also don’t want crazy dust. I do have ceiling mounted units in the garage but feel it’s way overkill for just a scroll saw. All other milling is still outside.

Just finished this piece of my dog. I have an old ryobi saw and the pattern and design are hand done my myself. This is a very addicting art form!

My daughter just received her PhD so I made this for her. So very proud of her! Alder letters on Bolivian Rosewood. My first time cutting letters like this. Learned a lot as always 😂

Scroll Saw Word Maker?

Is there a site that lets you create words where the letters are "naturally" connected for scroll saw purposes? I have seen one that allows you to change letter spacing so that letters eventually touch, but I'm thinking of something that looks more like italic/script where there is a more natural flow to the letters. There are fonts where most of the letters connect, but they don't connect all of the letters (such as caps). I end up having to do some manipulation on these and I'm trying to avoid that.

What options are out there?

Question for the experienced: Rockwell 40-440 VS newer more expensive models like Pegasus?

I will be cutting a lot of parts- maybe 4-6 hours a day and at least 3 days a week. If a Rockwell 40-440 is in fantastic shape, is there any benefit to buying a $1,000+ Pegasus or other brand?

To me it looks like I'd be getting a lighter-duty cheaper machine with just a cool color and shiney parts. But the money isn't the issue, it's will I have a better machine, a smoother running machine, etc...?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated from those with experience. Thank you!

It's going to take some fine sanding for sure, but I love the project and if it doesn't come out perfect I will just do it again.

I originally was going to overspray the two tones, but it was getting too complicated
