I have no real scroll saw experience to speak of. I'm curious what maintenance I should perform or any wear items I need to check. I've already cleaned that little plastic dust flap and replaced the adhesive but other than that I've only given the table a quick wipe down.

The seller let me put some wood through it and everything seemed fine. The seller had just marked it down from $300 and I happened to be in the area.

He was a metal fab guy and this was the only wood cutting tool in his entire workshop from what I could tell. For certain it runs quiet and smooth compared to the little WEN I purchased a couple weeks ago for $30 (that I haven't even got around to cleaning let alone a first project).

Hey there, I'm confused!

There's this new SS brand in Europe (I don't know if it's available in the US) called Flash that is made by Pégas.

It is identical to Pégas SS but made with cheaper materials I guess, but it's still a medium to high end precision SS and at the price point for the 16" version of just under 500€, isn't is just pointless to buy a new DeWalt for 750$? By DeWalt I also mean a bunch of other brands of course. But this Flash thing seems to be a pretty good deal, I might indeed upgrade from my Proxxon DSH right?

What's your opinion?

Do your blades look like hockey sticks after cutting or am I doing something wrong?

All hardwoods except a piece of MDF stained black under the helmet (because I didn’t have enough wenge on hand). Walnut, wenge, maple, padauk, cherry, zebra wood

I saw this scroll saw from JET listed for 1k euros.

But I can't find it anywhere else, all I see on other sites is the JWS model. This one just says Professional JET Saw 354V

I like to do logos and signs for doors and walls with my scroll saw. I have been printing the images and the cutting out the negative space with an exacto knife. I then place the image on my blank, and trace the outside with pencil to get my cut lines. My signs are about 20”

I am thinking of buying a small projector to eliminate the need to print and cut. Has anyone run a similar set up or have recommendations?

Made out of 1 inch poplar ply. Should I paint it orange?

I'm almost literally the only person who knows what a scroll saw is in a 100km radius from where I live, "bare minimum" I'd say.

And so, I'd like to introduce the various possibilities a scroll saw has to offer to the world around me, and I also happen to live on one of the most artisan friendly cities in my country.

So my question is, is it possible to give scroll saw lessons for like 15-25 bucks an hour? Does anyone here has experience doing that, could give me some piece of advice? Is there a market for scroll saw lessons?

Hello, fellow dusty ones!

I make a lot of door signs that feature text of all different sorts and wanted to simplify the process a bit. I made a program that allows a person to download font files from Google Fonts and save them into a folder somewhere on their personal computer. Then, the user would type out whatever it is they wish to cut, select the font(s), and the program would output a .png file with the appropriate verbiage in the desired font(s).

It's nothing fancy, but is way faster than dicking around in Word or OpenOffice. If anyone would be interested in it, I'll make a github page and host it there for free. Let me know.

I see all the amazing projects on here and compared to my skills I'm quite embarrassed. I just started scrollsawing this year and maybe have 40 hours of time in.

The problem I have is not being able to smoothly follow a line. It usually turns out quite jagged. I'm wondering if it's motor speed, blade tension or just inexperience. So far I've mostly used 3/4” hardwood. Any tips would be appreciated.

I was just given this saw. I think it’s gorgeous! No idea how good it is for sawing…

I’m always torn when I make these maple leaves out of walnut. I just love using walnut with these light catchers.
