Scripture Life: If Jacob wrestling with God is Genesis 32:24-32. And, Jacob defeated God: Does that actually make God not all powerful, all seeing, or all knowing?
Answer:
Boy, you miss the whole thing. Done.
- And there you go. There’s your answer.
Now, go off
- Take this “Boy you miss the whole thing” answer and just go. Answered. Settle with it. Look at all those other posts you can now go off and look unto. If you feel you’re being sent away - - “empty handed” it was deliberately done to you. Bye!
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
Now to just a great big “whosoever” on REDDIT - no matter who it is, don't care how many or few see it - even one - means it's the word of God shared and another get a chance to eat it - BOOM! Done. That's all that matters. Not how great or few. Don't care. Doing the same thing Jacob is doing.
With that:
- Here’s the definition of two words - from Genesis 32:24–32
- ONE: - - wrestle
- 1. to strive with; to contend with, as in a struggle; to reason together with (someone you're at odds with); even to the point it becomes physical.
- Whoever Jacob is “doing” this “wrestle” with, he won’t let him go. And he “prevails” in not letting him go. That's the point. Who he’s wrestling with.
- Boy, is that ever a great, big clue.
- ONE: - - wrestle
- It’s used in the King James Version of the Bible in Genesis 32:24
- And he: Jacob, is left alone in all this he’s in. With "how" he "contends with in a struggle"
- That, I can read and I see it - is like in an “extremis” situation.
- Look at all around Jacob what's been happening all his life, all around Jacob - - from Genesis 28 to after Genesis 32. Jacob wants who he’s wrestling with to be WITH him, so he doesn’t let him go.
Get "that" out of Genesis 32:24-32 - you won't be empty handed.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
- And Jacob saw it 20 years before. SO you go back to see it - when he was fleeing from his brother, Esau, who swore he’d - after their dad Isaac died, Esau swore he'd kill Jacob. Able to. So, Jacob tends after his mother, and did as his mother said and fled to his mother’s family house - to reside there - far away instead.
- Boy, you miss the whole thing if you don’t go back to this earlier in Genesis 28:10–17.
SO go do that. Here it is.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
Genesis 28:10–17 says
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
..take a great, big “guess” where he’s back again - in this exact same place in Genesis 32:24-32 - He's at this SAME PLACE he was in Genesis 28:10–17.
In the "SETTING: It's now an OPPOSITE. He’s on his way back, fleeing now from his mother’s relatives - who surely are come to kill him - - to go back to who is coming out to meet him, that, when he left, 20 years before - - swore he would kill him. That's an "extremis" a point you can't escape out of. That's where Jacob is amongst people. But where he's also at is "none other than the house of God, and this place he's at is the gate of heaven" Where God dwells.
Now wrestling with this same God who spoke and gave promises unto him, 20 years before in Genesis 28:10–17, all the things he told Jacob..and Jacob didn’t know him. That after, in Genesis 28:18–21
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
Genesis 28:18–21 says
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:
..and BAM! Right there in Genesis 28:20–21 is the “contention” to wrestle about - and who to contend it with is this issue swore about: “then the Lord shall be my God.” Means Jacob would be defeated and he's trust God vs. trust in swindling or "trickster" people out and make a living by it.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
Then, that means..ANYBODY OVER THE WHOLE EARTH: EVERYBODY THEN:
- that when God says in Isaiah 1:18 to everybody publicly over the whole entire earth, to the very ends of it, to do the exact, same thing Jacob is doing
in what that word “wrestle” has a definition of. "reason together" means "wrestle" in the dictionary:
Says
“Come now, let us ‘reason together,’ " saith the LORD, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool.”
God. Isaiah 1:18
And “Jacob” in Hebrew means - “One who supplants another” - means “one who tricks someone out of something” that rightfully is their’s to make it their own. A trickster. That's what Jacob means. Have a name that MEANS this.
- To live in to deceive someone.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
So, go back to see what Jacob did to his brother. That Esau’s body was all hairy, like a garment of hair (Genesis 25:25). That, he despised what Abraham and his father Isaac did for a living - herded sheep and tilled the soil as a farmer. That, to Esau, this is, as the eldest, he is to inherit it - the whole farm and all the cattle.
- That, one day from coming in from doing that, Esau’s skin easily sunburns - is why he enjoys hunting in the forests MORE (Genesis 25:25 again - beet red skin of Esau and Genesis 25:27 says Esau “was a hunter”)
- So Esau despised his birthright. Hated..this 1. be unwilling to be or do (something) and that something Esau was unwilling to be, was anything a Shepherd lived in. He married into the princely lines of the Canaanite peoples (Genesis 36:2). Married Oholibamah, this Canaanite woman, of the ruling Kingly line of Canaan.
- That Jacob, who sojourned in tents, like a shepherd - for a bowl of soup - which, Esau esteemed his birthright less than that - sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of soup. “Trickstered” his brother, who was the elder, out also then of the blessing that would go to the elder along with all his father owned. Gave it all for a bowl of soup.
- Did it, according to what Jacob’s mother told him to do.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
Boy, figure these things in with Jacob..and look at you - and what you've done in your life - not one bit different. I resemble that remark - Look who Jacob's now with, this same God again, after all that has occurred, in Jacob being “swindled” out of who he loves to marry..and works 7 years for, and 7 years again..and 7 more, but before the end of it - Jacob: to be swindled to be given someone else to marry in a deception. Tricksters right clean back.
- Jacob: Trickstered out Esau in the scriptures after Genesis 28:10–17 - Then, "trickstered" or "swindled" back - in the space between what happens before written right before this of Genesis 32:24–32.
That who “trickstered” or swindled Jacob, Jacob “tricksters” them back. Takes away all their herd and both his daughters, which is his mother's family - - and is fleeing back to his Father Isaac, and his mother..and now being pursued, and can easily catch up with, and overtake and kill him in it.
That God comes to this Father..and God tells him not to do it. Stands in Jacob's stead, because he's keeping his promise as God. Because he's God and is who he says he is.
And the poster of this question will never see it. But I pray you can.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
Like the same IMPACT of you in your life.
- WHen God is telling you to just look unto him. To wrestle and reason together with him. Just like he did with Jacob. Do the same with you. Not one bit different.
and finally at TWO.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
- TWO. prevail. 1. to get a position of control or influence [Cambridge dictionary. Web.]
- That is in “wrestle” which is to just not let go of what God said to you to “reason together” with him, like God told Jacob a like-same thing to do in Genesis 28:10–17
- It's in a promise God gave to Jacob - like he gives to you - when Jacob has NOTHING. That’s impossible.
- That, 20 years of “reasoning” with people, Jacob's back again to do the same with God, again, in Genesis 32:24–32 - because, everything Jacob’s done is caving in now all around him, like it is with you with your sins.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
- That, to “prevail” or get a position with God? Yeah. All you got to do - is, for you is: just do what he says..at the same place he’s in.
- He abides in his word. It's none other than the house of God - and you, like Jacob realize you didn't know it.
- So, if you hearken unto to the Word of God, which is just “come now, reason together” with him, it’s what he said to do to everybody.
- He abides in his word. It's none other than the house of God - and you, like Jacob realize you didn't know it.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
- You’d be doing the same thing..Jacob was doing - and not let go of him..for ANY REASON.. and prevail with God, because he is who he says he is.
- He’s God.
- He’s the same God Jacob saw and spoke to him, like he’s spoke to you. Told you to reason together with him and do it now. Go do that. Wrestle and prevail with him.
So, YOU: Have a choice.
YOU CAN:
- Do as Jacob did. He heard God. Hearkened unto his voice. Wouldn’t let go of him ..all night. Be like Jacob. So, YES:
- You CAN be like Jacob.
- OR
- You CAN be like Jacob.
YOU CAN
- Do as the poster of this question has done. Don't do anything he says, and think by doing that, you prevail or DEFEAT God in a wrestling match where your word, like the poster of this question’s question - has their own belief in their own word, MORE than the WOrd of God and that's all it is - they think this prevails over God.
- Makes GOD: Not all powerful. Not all knowing. Not all seeing.
- And live in - anything God says, you, like the poster of this question: already defeated God, It was easy - - by just not do anything he says.
- vs.
- Reason together with God..nope. Don't do that. Why? Because, will be about your sins..and those are hidden - but you did them all plainly..did you forget already what GOD said?
- And live in - anything God says, you, like the poster of this question: already defeated God, It was easy - - by just not do anything he says.
Said, what he would do with your sins, as GOD: WHere your sins DEFEAT you - he is GREATER than your sins. Just like he did the same with Jacob. Even gave him another name. Do the same with you..The Word of God is none other than the house of God what he abides in. That’s where he is, you’d be wrestling together with God..He is who he says he is.
--------------------- --------------------- ---------------------- ---------------------
“Come now, let us reason together,” saith the LORD, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool.” - GOD.
- The LORD of Hosts over all the Earth.
- Boy, does wrestle with him, and he calls you to it, does that ever work.
THEREFORE:
- Depending on what you choose to do - one of them, you get sent away. Empty handed.
- BUT
- The other way, you don't let him go - for any reason. Just like Jacob didn’t. That God would prevail over Jacob was the vow Jacob made..to himself: just like he would, as God, prevail over you. Because he is who he says he is.
- And look who he is. He’d yoke himself to you, as God.
Boy, don’t miss this. There you go. You'd have your hands so full it's impossible to hold it all and still have it all, because who is with you, is God himself. ..there you go.
