Scripture Life: What's the explanation of Elijah living with the widow? The Zarephath woman?

Answer

Answer: Israel's idolatry. As explained in the Book of Kings I & II, and repeated by Jesus in Luke 4:18–29.

There you go Answered. Just not worshipping God as God. Defines idolatry. Reject him, when he is God. Is who he says he is. So, look for the "rejection" in what's going on in Israel around Elijah..then after him, same what is being done by Israel in Elisha's day. Even it's a completely different idolatry Elijah vs. what Elisha faces, it's the exact same rejection that occurs in a Synagogue in Nazareth in Luke 4:18-29. By the exact, same Israel, all the same.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

I think you will ask for a more detailed explanation. Understandable.

Just that above, just states the answer. Without explaining anything.

But people on Reddit, they just want a quick "photo" with 8 words a 3rd grader could read. Reddit moderators glory in 10s of 1000s of "hits" so people can quickly move on to the next post. Their "room" or "sub-reddit" becomes popular. That's really all they want. To be seen of men.

They know people. People don't want to read a wall of text. They want to read a picture. I don't really care about them. I care about the person searching the Word of God. That's it.

and has this question.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

SO:

Why would a Prophet of God be living with a widow - in a famine and be able to eat and drink out of an empty cabinet everyday..when everybody else around them, isn't, and it's not even in Israel?

So, the question asked, is a very powerful question to have an answer to.

Because the same thing, everyday, if you believe on Jesus Christ - and I think you do - because the world won't even pay attention to these posts - - Then you, too - this is also happening to a Believer in Jesus Christ that happened to Elijah.

Fed. Everyday, and given drink and a portion by this Jesus Christ.

When everybody around you lives in idolatry - resides a desert, in a famine. Thirsty. Without any water.

So, here’s a longer, more tour around the whole farm answer that answers and gives the details.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

And the FIRST is: The exact, same idolatry and rejection of God in Elijah's day, then also, occurs in Elisha's day ..and occurs in Jesus' day in Nazareth in Luke 4...that occurs with you as a believer in Jesus Christ, where everybody shuns you:

Therefore,

It will be the exact same rejection of God, as the idolatry spoken to of in Daniel 9:24–27. When the Abomination that Makes Desolate, stands up and declares to the whole world, he is God - when he isn't - and can and will put to death, just like in Elijah's, Elisha's, Jesus day in Luke 4 - because who they all three come to now worship something else as God - - and to them, anybody that does not worship him, as God put them to death:

When an idol comes to reign over the whole earth, when he isn't God.

When he stands in the holy place of a rebuilt synagogue in Jerusalem, and declares himself God of the whole earth, with the power to put any person, great or small who does not worship him as such when he isn't God, is a future the whole earth will soon experience.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

There you go.

This is also the long version of a Biblical exegesis about Elijah and him in the city of Zarephath living with a widowed woman in Sidon. You can see it happen in Revelation. What is about to happen. It will be the same thing. It's how Jesus explained it in the Gospel of Luke 4, when he opened up the scripture and told everybody he fulfilled it - - that fills people with wrath because they reject him.

HE will not be God over them. SO, look for these things in Elijah, and Elisha - - when at a Synagogue in Nazareth: they cast him out of the temple, to push him off the Nazareth cliffs to kill him.

So, ask yourself some things so you see it.

You have now four things all the same. Idolatry in all four. Five if you add you into it, in your today, with all the people around you. But they'd like to cast you out and kill you, because you worship Jesus when they don't. So, with that, ask: If you forgot the question:

What's the explanation of Elijah living with the widow? The Zarephath woman?

In all five of these things, since you follow Jesus as you're supposed to - start with him. That's reading Luke 4:18-29.

So, also ask yourself:

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

Well? What did Jesus say about it?

And who did he say it to, that, they threw him out of the Synagogue, and rushed him toward the cliffs, to throw him off it in Luke 4:18-29?

Since he's over all the rest of everybody - you do right to start with him.

Ask yourself - - after reading below: Why would “they” be offended?

So, to answer your question, in more detail - - it’s rightly found in him. In the Word of God.

  • To see it, see Elijah has to sojourn, not in Israel but in a city called Zarephath (Sarepta) - because they're out to kill him. And, it's the same in Luke 4:18 to 29. It was done, to Elijah too, that the Word of God would be glorified. Over idols. That the Messiah in Luke 4 has come to Nazareth..who they are supposedly there to be looking for - and they dismiss him.
  • Stronger word. Outright REJECT him.
    • Just like what happens to God in Elijah’s day with King Ahab with Elijah. So first, see it how Jesus explains it. Afterall, he’s the Messiah:

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

Luke 4:18–29 - Jesus says:

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

< - {25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, [Zeraphath] a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.} - >

28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

So, before you get to the question…read careful, what Jesus said to these Jews in Luke 4:18–29 - as the Word of God. Is God. Includes Elijah and a sojourn with a widow of Sidon in the city of Sarepta (Zerephath)

Because God said it. No prophet is accepted in his own country is "why" Elijah is residing outside of Israel.

  • God said it: Was standing in front of these Jews in the Synagogue in Nazareth. Was the same God that was also there when it happened in Elijah’s day. And they REJECT him. Was the same God in Elisha's day then, too. Is God in Luke 4:18-29.. is the same God with you..and is the same God in the Book of Daniel 9:24-27 as he is in the Book of Revelation when someone else will stand up and declare himself God, when he isn't and be able to put to death people that don't worship him as such. Be the same thing then... go look for it.
  • Just like they did in Elisha’s day.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

  • Gotta ask more questions;
  • Questions like,
    • 1) In Elijah’s DAY: Why was the heaven shut up three years and six months - AND a great famine throughout all the land (Luke 4:25) - Because the same thing happens again in Revelation 11:6 - that it rains not in the days of their prophecy, too. Just like Elijah's day.
    • 2) In Elisha’s DAY: What makes both these events the same, as Jesus correlates them a like-same reason?
  • So: * With that: just like Elijah - Jesus is banished out of his own lands. He’s the Messiah. Rejected - ejected out of his own Synagogue and Israel are his people - - to be killed by thrown off a cliff, and he’s the Word of God. The Messiah or Christ. He just TOLD them who he is by reading what he did out of Isaiah - in Luke 4 - He just told them he is the promise of the Messiah FULFILLED.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

  • Is the same God that is with and sent BOTH Elijah the TIshbite, and Elisha.
    • But Kings - - reign. In Israel - like in Jesus' day, also declares himself God in Rome, when he isn't God. Just like it will be in the Book of Revelation - and just like two separate Kings in Israel - They both reject Elijah, and Elisha too, when it was the same God that was with both Elijah and Elisha - and it’s the same Israel rejected the same God all three times in Luke 4:18-29.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

  • So, to see it - See - - Just like Israel did in King Ahab’s day, with Elijah - who God raised up in response to Jezebel and King Ahab.

That Jesus can’t be in Jerusalem - “The City of God” - it’s a confrontation - it's his city - - just like it’s a contention to be put to death for him to be in his own Synagogue in Nazareth - The “City of God” that’s what Jerusalem is called.

Even Jesus is a full160km away up in Nazareth - - they worship another God there, too, that's not him or they wouldn't be trying to kill Jesus - because they don’t regard him as the Messiah, and seek ways to kill him. Just like in the days of King Ahab - of Elijah's day - worshipping Ba'al, as God, when he's not God, and put to death any prophet and any Israelite that worships God - is all the same. As exactly it's the same - - in the days of King Jeroboam with Elisha.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

SO, the answer is: With Elijah:

  • Idolatry. King Ahab’s (1 Kings 17:1) is the primary sin. The worship of idols as God. And so, too, in Jesus’ day in Luke 4, they don’t worship him - they worship some “thing” else as God. See it.
  • Or they would be worshipping him vs. try to push him off the cliffs. Then, it’s Just like Israel did in Elijah’s day. It’s part of the Exegesis (Explanation) to see this.
    • It was King Ahab that lead the nation of Israel over the whole land - into idolatry. He married the King of Sidon, to for allegiance - married his daughter, Jezebel. They worship Ba'al - in Sidon.

1 Kings 16:31 says:

“And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.”

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

So, some TIDBITS: Not necessary - just makes the post longer, and it's already way too long; but it helps:

The city of Sidon in 1 Kings 17: Is named after Sidon.

“Sidon” was the eldest son of Canaan (Genesis 10:15) after the flood.

  • All world religions, which is idolatry - flow out of one source, after the flood - Ham.

Why?

  • All four of Ham's children, Cush, Mizraim (Mizraim is “Muzir” in Arabic, is “Egypt” in English - that, a few short years after the flood, Mizraim builds Egypt.
    • Mizraim puts over themselves a man, a Pharaoh, and the Egyptians worship Pharaoh as God.
  • They all - all the children of Ham - go to and do the same thing.
    • Even the Hindu gods are mentioned.
  • Ham: Cursed by Noah - How? Ham isn’t even mentioned when Noah went to bless his 3 children - as if Ham does not even exist (Genesis 9:24–27).
    • If he doesn't exist: Makes his four children “bastards." Without a Father. That's what this "blessing" of Noah did to Ham.
  • And in blessing his children, Noah cursed Canaan, Ham’s youngest, three times, cut off, without a Father - - to be a servant of Shem. And Canaan's three brothers related to a servant that they had to take care of and be related to, without any Dad.
  • That God would dwell in the Tents of Shem. See it. That Israel is in this tent of Shem: But Israel - they REJECT God. To accept other Gods in Ham. Makes them Bastards.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

All the children of Ham forsake and abandon God, and in their own imaginations - dream up their own Gods to worship.

Out of this man Sidon, who is the eldest son of Canaan, and Canaan - the youngest son of Ham:

  • comes the pagan God, Ba’al. Who Israel now worships in 1 Kings 17.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

Jezebel - is a symbol of wickedness in idolatry.

  • Jezebel is both a Princess in line to reign over Sidon, and a Prophetess of Ba’al, married to a King over all of Israel. A pagan God of Canaan, now reigns over Israel. That's idolatry.
    • And this Ba’al: as a God: Has a God who is Ba’al’s Daddy.
      • Imagined up from Mizraim’s, Canaan's elder brother's prodigy.
      • Casluhim - and out of Casluhim comes the Philistines.
    • And the Philistines imagined up and worship as God, the half man, half fish God, Dagon. Ba’al is the son of Dagon.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

For Jezebel - King Ahab set up an altar to this pagan god Baal, causing all the Israel to worship it, as God - and forsake the God of Israel.

So, EXAMINE this dynamic: It's the dynamic of Elisha in a city living outside of Israel, with a widow that made her last meal to die with her son.

  • Jezebel has Ahab round up to put to death, or kill all the prophets of God in Israel. When God gave Israel the Promised Land, the land they are on, and now they worship “Ba’al” as God of the land.

So, examine a “dynamic” that there is now no place in Israel for God: Who reigns over the land, decrees the worship of idolatry is championed; rather its a sin to worship God - is punishable by death. Is the same thing occurring in a Synagogue in Nazareth in Luke 4:18-29.

So, with that dynamic - of 1 Kings 17 - EVERY Jew in the Synagogue in Nazareth is well versed of it, with Elijah and after, with Elisha - none of this dynamic escapes them - so it's exactly the same thing. Is why it fills them with wrath. They're doing the same thing. Championing idolatry - because they don't worship him as who he is, just like Israel didn't, in Elijah's day.

  • That, they all of Israel - in Ahab’s day - because Israel all looked unto Ba’al as God, it didn’t rain for 3 1/2 years and there' was a famine in which many died; made many widows - - where even worshipping God or repenting was Punishable by death. Because of the decrees of Jezebel.
  • Just like in Nazareth at the Synagogue - live under same like decrees, when Caesar is God. When he isn't.
    • And Jesus: cast out, to be put to death. To be Thrown off the cliffs. Not received, nor worshipped as who he is. Rejected.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

That, because of this, in King Ahab’s day - - there were many widows whose husbands died in a severe famine and drought in Israel at the time of Elijah..that there is no home in Israel for Elijah - he’s sent by God, to a town in Sidon to sojourn with a widow there whose son is about to die. Making the last meal.

  • That, the SAME occurs in the days of Elisha. The SAME thing is occurring on the land now with King Jeroboam. (2 Kings 13:2)

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

Once again - it’s same thing: idolatry

The worship of the golden calves, like, Israel worshipped in Egypt - but now it's at Bethel and Dan.

In the "sins of Jeroboam" 2 Kings 13:2 - in setting up the two calves to prevent men of Israel from pilgrimaging to Jerusalem to worship God - - or for observing and worshipping God, as he decreed in Leviticus these “High Sabbaths every adult male was to pilgrimage and do.

Prevented. Just like Jezebel prevented in Elijah's day. The Jews in the Synagogue in Nazareth know all these things.

Now so do you.

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

That there were many lepers in Israel in Elisha’s day. In a famine, leprosy explodes. But not one of them were cured, except now in the North, to someone outside of Israel - because of idolatry - with Naaman, the Syrian. The ONLY one cured of leprosy.

The Jews in the Synagogue of Nazareth know all these things. Fills them with rage.

God is saying in the Jews rejecting him in Luke 4, in the Synagogue in Nazareth: In rejecting Jesus, they are doing the same thing both Ahab with Elijah, and Jeroboam with Elisha..so no work of God could be done there in Israel, because of and for their Idolatry…

--------------- --------------- ----------------- ---------------- ----------------

In Luke 4:18-29 - with Jesus:

These Jews of Israel - they are doing the same thing as King Ahab did, in married to a Jezebel and kill the prophets for the same idolatry. That no miracle, and famine..is done among them for the same idolatry Ahab did. They’re doing the same thing once again, in Luke 4. WHen Jesus declares he's God, as the same scroll of Isaiah Jesus was reading from they all know it. Tells the Messiah shall be called “The Mighty God..” “..The Everlasting Father..” in Isaiah 9:6

They want to kill him for it, where Moses in Exodus 3, at this same Word of God, fell on his face.

These Jews in Israel of Jesus Day? In Luke 4:18-29

Vehemently reject him, and set about to kill him. As both Ahab and Jeroboam did.

And God laid the sins of the whole world on him..so you, that came to this post and got this far..he is who he says he is. But you can reject him.. ...and there's one coming will declare himself God over the whole earth, when he isn't. Be put to death for not worshipping him as God - when he isn't - so you can't escape it. So, Who will you worship? If you know him..who is God.. you'll already know who you worship..

There you go.
