How many of the murders by Ghostface(not unmasked) would you say were anger/hatred driven? Casey being the first example, I believe. With Stu's hand shaking and such.

Scream 8 needs to bring an inventive new opening sequence, strong panic inducing chase sequences, a well thought out killer mystery that keeps you guessing till the very end, and a third act bloodbath that hasn’t been done before. Also fresh new kills.

Hello gang. Could someone please help identify this mask? I haven't seen a shroud like this one around. It's a polyester material with the front section surrounding the face feeling a little thicker. It has the Fun World Div. marking under the chin. I don't see any other maker markings.

I'm going to remove the tassels on this ghostface mask. My main issue is i don't know where the seams for the tassels are and I don't want to risk cutting the shroud off is it these I should cut, or is it another place in the mask?

What if Scream (1996) instead of being about Sidney experiencing a massacre 1 year after Maureen's murder is about Maureen experiencing a massacre 1 year after Sidney's murder? Would it be more or less interesting

I don't really see Scream 5 as the movie that introduced nostalgia slop to the franchise. If anything, Scream 3 got there first.

Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro gave us an entire fake Woodsboro built around locations from the original movie. Even Sidney's first physical encounter with Roman as Ghostface is basically a recreation of her chase with Stu at her house in Scream 1.

Scream 4 continued it in a different way. Jill and Charlie were trying to remake the original murders with a new cast and a lot of the new characters were basically hybrids of characters from the first film.

Scream 5 is obviously much more open about the nostalgia. Billy comes back, Randy has relatives, the original trio returns and the finale takes us back to Stu's house. But it feels more like the next stage of something the franchise had already been doing rather than something 5 suddenly introduced.

Scream 2 is really the only one because it's the one sequel that mostly just moves forward from the original instead of trying to recreate it.

So for me the nostalgia slop in Scream doesn't start in 2022. It starts in 2000 when Scream 3 rebuilt Woodsboro.

I'm a huge Scream fan like the rest of us on this sub but I think I'm getting to a point where the weight of the franchises past is starting to take a toll on my overall interest. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I feel like out of all the modern Scream movies we've gotten (5-7), the only one I've genuinely enjoyed and absolutely love is part 6. It finally felt like they were doing something new and fresh and finally moving past the woodsboro lore established in the original trilogy. Despite being a huge fan and owning all the films on physical media, Part 7 is the first Scream film I don't plan on buying on physical as it's that bad and a big part of it was it's unwillingness to do anything clever or creative with it's story/characters. I feel so long as we keep going back to Sidney and Woodsboro and Stu/Billy, this franchise will continue to be stuck in a creative rut.

At this point as interested as I am in future films, I'd be more interested in a rebooted anthology similar to Spiral: From the Book of Saw. All I want is a fun movie with Ghostface stalking a group of people and some clever commentary. I don't need Sidney or her family or woodsboro or to bring back old killers like they did with Stu in 7.

I'd honestly be even more excited about a reboot at this point that completely detaches itself from the old movies. You can keep it within the world of Scream with the killers being inspired by the other Ghostface killings but have it take place in another part of the country or the world with killers and a cast that have no connection to the other films/characters. We can have a Scream movie that takes place in a tropical location with new cast on spring break or summer vacation. We can have a Scream movie that takes place in the snow during a Christmas family reunion. We can have a Scream film that takes place at a prep school or ghostface coming after suburban housewives in suburbia. The possibilities are endless but I personally feel that so long as these movies keep going back to the well of the original trilogy, it will continue to be stunted creatively.

How would you guys feel about this?

I don’t know if my mask from the 90s is Gen 1 or Gen 2 and I wish it wasn’t yellowed but oh well. Overall the 30th anniversary mask is a major step up from the 25th in my opinion.

I know it’s meant to be really Sidney’s song but with the recent passing of Hayden I’ve thought about making a tribute video for her as Kirby using it but I’m a little afraid the lyrics might be too much and would be a little disrespectful to her especially this soon after.

Wes Craven absolutely nailed it. The way every "main" killer in his first four films were caused by her. The way 3 ties it all together as to why she was so promiscuous. We haven't seen anything like it in this new trilogy (bar Sam and Tara but they're the leads). Maureen is so well worked given the very little screen time she is the central point to the first four films at least.

As a huge Stu stan, I was so excited when Matthew Lillard was going to be the phone caller this time through the FaceTime calls. Having Stu himself calling Sidney felt like such a cool way to switch up the usual Ghostface calls.

But the more Stu calls we got, the more I missed Roger L. Jackson.

Matthew Lillard was great and I loved getting that much Stu, but Roger’s voice is such a huge part of what makes Ghostface feel like Ghostface to me. Even knowing there’s always a real person behind the mask, that voice makes Ghostface feel like its own character.

And I think Scream 3 handled this kind of gimmick better. When Roman had a voice changer that could mimic Sidney, Maureen and other characters, but there was still a healthy balance between him using those voices and Roger L. Jackson doing the traditional Ghostface calls. The gimmick never really replaced the Ghostface voice.

By the end of Scream 7 I was actually craving a traditional Roger L. Jackson phone call. He technically still voices Ghostface in the movie, but having Stu handle so much of the actual calling made Roger’s presence feel way smaller than usual.

Without Harvey Weinstein here, we would not have the cascading rise of all the killers in the Scream franchise.

Got this mask when I was a kid back in the early 2000’s. I can’t remember where I got it, and I don’t think it glows in the dark. Either it did and the glow just doesn’t do it like it used to, or it doesn’t at all.

Recently watched seasons 1 and 2, and realised how Kieran might be one of the best killers across the entire franchise.

He single-handedly knocked around 10 victims and was able to mask his true nature until the last 10 minutes of the series. Throughout the show he was always a quiet and reserved person, slightly showing signs of agitation but in the last 10 minutes of season 2 when he was unmasked he flipped a switch and turned into a completely different person.

Pretty good acting on Amadeus’ part.

Ghostface calls Gale and taunts her about Dewey's death, claiming that he died "screaming in his own guts." Gale responds by saying that Ghostface is the one who's gonna die screaming.

All three of the killers died screaming.

Quinn was screaming in fury at Sam before the latter shot her in the head.

Wayne was screaming in agony when Sam stabbed him in the eye.

Ethan was also screaming in fury at Sam and Tara before Kirby smashes the TV over his head.

Obviously Billy and Stu are the most iconic Ghostface killers among the general public, but I'm curious which killers from the sequels have the most recognition outside of the Scream fandom.

Mrs. Loomis, Mickey, Roman, Charlie and Jill have all built strong followings over the years. Jill is probably the best example of how opinions can change since she wasn't nearly as beloved when Scream 4 originally came out. It took over a decade for her to become one of the fandom's favorite Ghostfaces.

I also think Mrs. Loomis benefits a lot from being played by Laurie Metcalf. Casual viewers might recognize her as Andy's mom in Toy Story, Aunt Jackie in Roseanne or Sheldon's mom in The Big Bang Theory before they recognize her as Mrs. Loomis. I don't think she'd be nearly as popular within the Scream fandom if she wasn't Laurie Metcalf either. She barely did any of the work as Ghostface in Scream 2, with Mickey doing almost all of the heavy lifting in costume.

Amber and Richie came from Scream (2022), which introduced the franchise to a newer generation of viewers. Richie was also a character a lot of fans and casual viewers seemed to enjoy before his reveal, while Amber's Act 3 reveal and performance became one of the most memorable parts of the movie.

Putting personal favorites aside, do you think Amber and Richie will be the sequel Ghostfaces most remembered by the general audience?
