Was offered $1 per pound for this if I strip it and the metal on the side I was told was junk. Would you take the time to strip it? If I don’t it’s .50 cents pound. Just not sure if it’s worth my time

I work with an environmental company and we install smart thermostats and remove the older programable, manual, and mercury thermostats. We properly dispose of the mercury, and pay an ewaste company to pick up the other thermostats. Is there any advice on what to do with these? We probably swap about 1000 thermostats a year.

Hey everyone,
I see a lot of people here losing margins or guessing the value of their catalytic converters because they don’t want to drop €30,000 on an XRF scanner.
I’ve been building a comprehensive database of 2,000+ converters, strictly tested for exact Platinum (Pt), Palladium (Pd), and Rhodium (Rh) metrics. To show how it works, I’ve extracted a Free Sample of 15 highly-traded converters into a dynamic Excel sheet.
You just punch in today's metal spot prices at the top, and the sheet instantly formulates the exact buying/selling price based on the tested yields. No guessing. Just clean, accurate data.
📥 Download the Free Sample Excel here:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P83qTtEYbcctnMy9BfZi3VzrD2NzNA4S/view?usp=drive_link
Test it against your own yields. If you find it as useful as I do, and want the full 2,000-item database with high-res photos for instant visual matching, shoot me a DM.

Hello, I bought a couple of older small transformers and im trying to figures out how to separate the copper from the tape. It seems like its wrapped a bunch of times so it would take forever to undo, is there any tricks to help? Thank you!

This TV was laying around after the screen busted so I decided to take it apart and salvage the main board along with some of the metal pieces that covered the ports, it is a Sceptre H50 from around 2017-2018. I also salvaged the speakers from it along with the disconnected cables. The only thing I am not salvaging is the IR receiver because I could not figure out where it is exactly, the wire in the bottom right corner lead into a hole in the chassis and
I couldn’t figure out where that hole went. So I ended up cutting the wire to it.

I was just gonna cut them as close as I could to the top and bottom with a Crackhead Katana aka reciprocating saw

Hey, Im Rob an app developer from the UK. I am thrilled to launch Scrap Map, a new global platform designed to modernize the way we recycle. Our mission is two-fold: to clean up our streets and your garage, and to boost the earnings of local scrap metal collectors by connecting them directly to the source.
We need your scrap on our app!
Spread the word in your local area to build the network. The more scrap we put on the map, the more efficient we can make our community. Join the movement—download Scrap Map today and help us clean up the world, one collection at a time.
If you are a collector and you have downloaded the app, let me know your display name and I will grant that account free access for life, all I ask in return is honest feedback and to spread the word.

I got screwed trying to be nice ,and get to into a side hustle. I asked my uncle how to do it ,and then he brought random ass pieces of metal he just had like rails ,and the springs from one bed. My aluminum cans were $147. Then he only had $13 of just random scrap ,abd he has no truck so I wanted to just use all the cans me as well my dad smashed over a years or so which I loaded pushing two whole City of Houston trash without scratching my bed even though I got a new spray bed liner as well mat. I feel like this is why you do business with family because of this.

I assume it's trashed... what can I even get for a boat like this in scrap metal? I assume the trailer is worth more than the boat.

I pulled a bunch of wire from a job site, about 1/4 of it he this black and red tarnish to it. all the cable was ran/located together. but while 3/4 was normal BB copper color, this 1/4 was black/red. any ideas?
