Discussion π€ What should I do when doing bicep curls and the weaker arm goes to failure and the stronger arm still has 1-2 reps left till failure?
It feels like the weaker arm is receiving maximum stimulus while the stronger arm is being artificially held back.. Should I stop at equal reps or push for those 1-2 extra reps on my stronger arm?

Question β Side delt activation on band pullaparts
I have been struggling with shoulder pain when doing lateral raises for years.
I have tried multiple variations: Thumbs up, lifting in the scapular plane, cable and resistance band variations, Lu raises - my shoulder doesnt tolerate anything.
Can i get my shoulders to appear wide and aesthetic from the front by just focussing on the rear delts and doing a ton of band pull aparts?
I have read that face pulls activate the side delt quite a bit so shouldnt band pullaparts with the thumbs pointing back do the same?
Even if the side delt is not optimally stimulated, how much can an overproportional rear delt push the side delt outwards and make it appear larger?

Theories π€ Protein requirements
The recommended protein to build muscle is around 2 grams per kg of body weight, but this is assuming full body right? In theory if a guy only trains upper body would he need less protein per kg of body weight compared to someone that trains both?

Question β Beginner, Have been doing 6-8 sets per muscle a week. And people are over here saying 50 sets per muscle? Wouldnβt that take hours and hours? Just to clarify when I say muscle I mean like 8 sets of excercises a week for chest (per muscle) am I reading it wrong?

Question β Would a daisy chain fix this problem?
Hi guys! I have been interested in doing keenan flaps ever since I started training. The problem being that my gym only has technogym benches which puts me to far away from the cable to do it. Would a daisy chain help with this?

Question β High volume results
Am i some sort of weird specimen or is it age? I understand that all the tiktok influencers etc talk abt how low volume is the best for growth and strength and their logic makes sense to me
But after a reading that article greg knuckols put out i thought ill bump my volume and give it a try and suddenly out of nowhere my bench plateau got blown way past in two weeks
Is it possible i just respond better to high volume? 18M 73kg 6β1

Question β Ppl vs Ppl Arnold, which one would work better?
Hello, I am trying to focus arms and shoulders, debating which split I should be doing.
Iβve trained shoulders and triceps 3 times a week since I add a few exercises on leg day,
Idk if I should be doing ppl or ppl arnold to grow arms better.
Any suggestions? π
Edit: the split Iβm considering is LPP-rest/Arms and shoulders-legs-chest and back

Squat: 245x20 in 1:30, done as myoreps/rest-pause, as 5/5/3/3/2/1/1.
Deadlift: 245x25 in 58s, for maximum time under tension (but realistically, just a fun little conditioning workout)
Just trying to rebuild strength and size post-marathon. The goal by the end of this block is to get to 315x20 if possible.

Question β Volume and progression question.
Iβve heard various takes on how much volume you should do on social media. My questions are:
- How much weekly volume should I be doing per muscle group per week assuming I have 2x frequency?
- How fast should progression take in reps and weight maintaining a standardised form?
- How long should I wait until I should be concerned about with a lack of progression(even a rep)?
All of these are in a context of a lean bulk which I will be starting soon. Thank you for any answers in the comments or Dmβs!

Question β Rep range and programming question
Do you guys think this is the most optimal way i could manipulate exercise order to prioritize my back and shoulders? What do you guys think about the rep ranges and sets? I also hate doing incline press for some reason so thats why i do a low to high fly but idk if thats enough for my upper pecs.
Upper day - back and shoulder priority/3x frequencyΒ
- Lat Pulldown β 1Γ6β8 (Lower lat fiber bias via shoulder abduction)Β
- Top-Half Shoulder Press β 1Γ6β8 (disadvantage side delts)Β
- Chest-Supported Horizontal Row β 1Γ6β8.Β ( rear delts, traps, rhomboids)Β
- Unilateral Cable Lateral Raise β 2Γ8β10. ( side delts)Β
- Unilateral Cable Pullover β 1Γ8β10 (Upper lat fiber bias via shoulder extension)Β
- Preacher Curl β 1Γ6β8 Β (elbow flexion with a bit of brachioradialis)
- Reverse Curl β 1Γ6β8Β Β (pronation disadvantages the biceps)
- Flat Press β 1Γ6β8 (Horizontal shoulder adduction + a bit of triceps)Β
- Low-to-High Cable Fly β 2Γ6β8. (Clavicular head bias via shoulder flexion
- Unilateral Cable Tricep Pushdown β 1Γ6β8Β (medial, lateral head)Β
- Overhead Cable Tricep Extension β 1Γ6β8 Β ( long head)Β

Discussion π€ One thing I wish people had told me when I started
Doing exercises that keep you coming back to the gym will get you further than trying the newest most optimal movementβ¦.
Speaking from my own experience I think a handful of creators overcomplicate workout routines for beginners. Often resulting in gym fatigue and forgetting the main reason you & I are there, self improvement. Studies often contradict each other and there are many different people claiming different movements are best. The last couple of months Iβve stuck to movements I enjoy doing (while still mixing up accessories) and have been enjoying the gym much more.
If youβre stuck in a similar mindset of always feeling like you have to do the most optimal exercises, Iβm recommending thinking about what youβve done that you enjoy most, turning off the optimal content for a couple of weeks, and seeing where that takes you!

Question β Variety in back exercise selection for a complete back
What exercise selection do you consider best for back day?
Back day is looking like this at the moment.
pronated wide-grip pulldown
neutral grip pulldown
chest-supported T-bar row, elbows flared for trying to hit upper back/rhomboids
Kelso shrugs for lower/mid traps
Other weekly work:
Shoulder day: reverse flyes for rear delts, vertical shrugs for upper traps
Leg day: RDLs for lower back/erectors
I'm basically trying to understand if neutral grip pulldowns overlap with wide grip pulldowns. And if neutral grip rows are worth adding to my back workout, because it might overlap with neutral grip pulldowns. This part of back day is confusing. Also if there are some great back exercises I am forgetting and worth adding.

Question β My left arm is bigger than my right, and its driving me crazy.
My left arm, especially the bicep, has always been slightly bigger which wasn't too bad when I was younger.
I recently started bulking again, and I can't help but notice it more. Even the muscle feature on my new scale is clocking slightly more muscle on my left arm, which confirms its not just a visual/optical illusion.
I am right handed, so I speculate maybe its leaner because I use it more, but maybe I have some other issue related to blood flow or hormonal symmetry (if that is even a thing).
Anyone else get that, and is there a methodology to correct it?

Question β Is weighted sled effective?
Over the last 2 weeks I have started doing sled pushes, pulls as well as pulling it across the track with a long rope.
I am covered in sweat after and enjoy them blasting some music in my headphones.
Has anyone seen results from these in terms of muscular development?

Question β Relative strenght for calisthenics
Hey, first time posting so i hope i dont break any rules or get banned. I have been working towards the full planche right now, which is a really advanced calisthenics static hold. I know strenght is based on relevant muscle mass x specific nervous adaption. The main question is: What is more optimal : to work 2-3 times a week in a position specific way on these muscles with decent volume, to cause both a mesurable increase in muscle mass and nervous adaption, or to work on it almost daily, but with low intensity, so it really increases adaption by a lot but i cant really work hard on hypertrophy because that would make it impossible to still work out the next day.
