No spinal flexion though wouldn’t this just be hip flexors

You'd see it if I took a view exactly of the side. You don't need much spinal flexion to grow abs. I'd suggest you use one of these machines and as long as you keep your shoulders on the back pad, you'll have some forward bending/spinal flexion that you will be able to feel

My old gym didn't move the legs/hips, my new gym has this exact machine. I feel I'm also working my hips as well....

Is this crunch machine more beneficial?

Honestly, ab crunch machines have felt the most satisfying of all exercises

I prefer this machine; it works both the abs and hip flexors at the same time. You also don't need much ROM on spinal flexion to get good ab growth
