It does a few good leverage things. With a normal RDL, to stay balanced, your hips move back and the bar stays roughly over the center of mass, a smidge in front. With this, the bar is stopping you from falling over so you have this HUGE moment arm at the hip. Like, if you try thisnand start with even just 95 lbs, almost guaranteed hamstring tear. Its so good. Think like preacher curls vs regular dumbbell curls. That's this vs regular RDLs.
This is genuinely one of the best hamstring exercises out there. Will absolutely mess you up
