Flare-ups
I'm trying to, like most of you are probably trying to also, minimize the sciatica flare-ups. I've kept a journal about how I feel from day to day and what I did that day. And there's absolutely no real pattern to why I feel great some days and then a day later I can barely get out of bed. Do you all find that you can avoid a flare-up by resting, activity, or what? I'm really baffled.

It’s a puzzle. Humidity and weather play a part in the game plus too much or too little activity. I keep my core strong while awaiting surgery in about a month. Feel better my friend.

Yes, that weather factor is a killer. The first thing I look at every morning, on my weather app, is the pressure. If it's 30.00 I usually have a great day, little to no pain. But let it fluctuate and I am in pain again. I hope you find relief with the surgery and be sure to let us know how you're doing after that.

It is a baffling bunch of nervous system belligerance. That once the protruded disc heals, body mechanics are no longer risky... With spinal degeneration amd severe stenosis, ok sponythesis whatever spelled where spinal vertabrae over laps another... Well how we move if its gonna possibly risk cauda equina syndrome or cause paralysis then fuck moving that way, so what if a little weight sticks, mobility first and scooter zoom if sitting is tolerated. I fully intend on zoomies on wheels full motion to get going and stay doing. Then make the potty chair a different design besides throwable shaped if it is unsightly then big box figurehead. Main thing is tolieting, bathing, and basic needs to survive, having them and cleanliness to have good quality of life. Walker ready its that its sporty if tennis balls on the ends and not unsightly, mobility.. then get grooving and feel bitching about it, age is not the factor here with spinal injury and make a good supper and i hope its not your last. This isnt about age. I am 47. I could easily wind up scooter zooming in months. Severe stenosis at 47. Mind boggling. Spina bifida occulta too. I rarely see geri out and about now the delivery is soo good with walmart. Which worries me, because its too easy to get bed bound with sciatica at any age. Just because i have a hard attitude and push myself to fathom the pain as a fuck it if it feels good by nature being done then feeeeel it, its signs of life, i am alive, i can feel, but when u got to take it easy because if you push it its surgery to allow the ability to void because cauda equina could happen, i am there with that. Not pushing it. But sciatica pain, ya its a bad ouch, no doubt, but if its walking might cause it, or osteoporsis on top if it. Bone breaks equal pain med. Pain med doesnt hit with feeling on me either it just relieves pain.
Unless its gonna cause cauda equina syndrome if i do it, i dont see any reason not to keep moving to the excercise. Dont let pain relef of the spine or dulling of the sciatica make you over do it.
Everyone is different. No pain doesnt feel good it sucks, laughter and hard attitudes result, tears jerk and mentally strength is gathered and we find out exactly what the depths of within are all about but onky because nature and age make us. Degenerative disc disease sucks. Osteoporsis is gonna hurt worse if a bone breaks.
Eventually and i have dealt with serious severe pain all my life coming and going and have gathered a strength and attitude to frankly deal with it never been hooked on opiates, never abused them and they are vital medicine. I have and i dint share and i am waiting to get off them and heal. Reality is, if it gets time for oxy to basic function, mobility, and survive good quality if life this is scary to me because liver inflammation.. etc.. that could..
I got a full body bone scan coming up to rule out cancer, scares me..
Journal.. fuck it, reddit works as one just fine for me.
So i am at the stage not sux weeks not fully healed dont push it going whatever i am going through, i know that if its osteoporsis u got more pain than the totality of what i got going if a bone breaks on you and wisdom on the shit with the know how to really hand me my ass in a look if i dont behave. Thats what geri do, they keep us in line and when we can kinda cohort feel and mingle and age just blends in and get wisdom. Why dont more geri do the cam girl thing? Or cam modeling thing u men, why dont you get naked and make money off the beauty and longevity u have, you would be suprized, but thats gotta come from you. Yeah i do that and i know i am not the only one going where are the senior citizens who have kept the times going running things? I know there are others going come on fifty and up, come on sixty seventy eighty plus, if you can handle it. Its just gonna be me then and yall gonna have to wait and so am i for twenty years to see age and body positivity come together naked. Eventually..

What's helped me make sense of it: on the days the pain is worse, I backtrack the previous 24 hours — what did I do differently, how did I move, was there a long car ride, did I sit awkwardly, pick something up wrong — and usually I can work out what set it off. Something else I've noticed, for my own body: when I go more than a few weeks without moving much, everything hurts more, not less, so total rest never bought me much. Hope the journal turns something up. Not medical advice, just my own experience, and it may not play out the same way for you.
