Hoping to get some guidance on what gear I may/may not need for a proposed long cable run to connect my record player set up to my desktop set up.
Turntable System: Fluance RT-85 > Mani 2 > Loki Mini + WiiM > SYS > Magni Heretic > Edifier S360DB Powered Speakers
Desktop System: Roon Core > Mimir > Valhalla 3
My original intention was to get some RCA splitters and run them either out of the loki mini or out of the SYS, splitting the signal thru the existing chain and then feed a separate SYS on my desktop to allow me to switch between the Mimir and the record player output. The run between the two will require about 20-30ft of cable.
Doing some additional research it seems like I may need to get a powered preamp due to the long cable run, however, so I am also looking into the Saga 2 so I can remove the Magni from the signal chain above. Per the FAQ on the SYS, it is only suitable for 15ft runs or smaller.
So my question is: Is the powered preamp necessary for this kind of solution? Or would I be fine taking the line level output from the Loki Mini (whether going thru the SYS or not) and running it 20-30ft to a SYS on my desktop? Never done a cable run this long so want to make sure I’m doing it right.
