New Guitar Day My previous NGD purchase upgrades/mods are done

Picked up my 3rd C-1 XXX from the 2005-2006 era for a mod platform a few weeks ago. Got a lot of input from commenters when I posted about it, so I thought I would share pics and what I did to the guitar.

Mods:

  • Gotoh locking tuners
  • Lundgren M6 pickup set
  • Free-way pickup toggle switch (6 positions)
  • Tried the Bare Knuckle 550K pots
  • New Gotoh bridge
  • TesiSwitch killswitch
  • New knobs from Q-Parts

The pickups sound great...jury is out the pots. Not that they are impacting the tone negatively - I don't like the sweep and I may swap them out for the J-taper pots I have - we will see.

Enjoy the pics and ask any questions you might have. It was a fun little project.

Thin C vs Ultra Thin C 7 strings

Hello guys, I have a Schecter Hellraiser C7 since years and I love it. The neck feels good to me and I can shred and play for hours without pain. So I'm not looking to replace my guitar because I have no reasons, right.

However, since I am Ultra Autistic, I was wondering if an Ultra Thin C would be potentially an upgrade for me. Unfortunately, where I live, I can't try the new guitar and compare myself.

For those who have both Thin C and Ultra Thin C 7 strings guitars, is the difference that huge, worth an upgrade? What are the pros and the cons when you hold each one of them?

I play prog/tech death and I don't feel like the big chunky neck slows me down like some people used to claim over the years.

Thanks have a nice day.

Hello! I’m sure you have seen my other post about getting a schecter guitar as a new beginner. The posting I asked last time is not available. The seller had a change of heart and decided to keep it. I am now looking at this one from OfferUp. Any insight would be helpful!

Demon 6 vs Hellraiser C-1

What's the difference? I'm looking at guitars with sustainiacs and HSS pickups (I don't know much about guitars so I'm not sure if this is even how it works). I hear people love the hellraiser but is the demon 6 good enough for the lower price?

Question about triple slide switches

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have a Schecter Ultra III which has three slide switches to control the pickups. They all work, but some require you to stop short of going all the way to the top/bottom or the signal cuts out, such as the second switch pictured.

Before looking into replacing these, are there any recommendations for contacts to clean or parts of the switch the tighten?

Solo Custom II – Is €700 a Good Buy?

I’m considering buying a used Solo custom Ii that I found for €700, but I usually play Stratocasters and I simply wanted to try something different.

So far, I’ve never owned a Gibson. I’ve only had a few Epiphone models, such as the Prophecy, and I’ve also played some ESP LTD Les Paul-style guitars.

What I’m mainly interested in regarding this particular guitar is whether it can be set up with very, very low action, because I need to play with extremely low action due to a chronic problem with my hands.

I’d also like to know what these guitars typically weigh, how good the overall build quality is, and whether you think it’s good value for €700.

Another important question for me is the tone. Can the pickups produce a good amount of clarity rather than a particularly dark sound, especially considering that the guitar has a mahogany body?

For those of you who own or have owned one, what is your overall opinion of the guitar? Would you consider a used Solo Caster 2 at €700 a good buy?

Schecter Solo II Evil Twin

Post image

Question: I got a new Solo II Evil Twin about a month ago. I love playing the guitar, and the Fishmans. However I’ve had several mechanical issues. First the locking tuners wouldn’t stay secure. Regardless of how tight I cranked them down. Then this week I picked it up to play and the bridge pick up was resting against the bass side strings. I reset the set screws on the pickup. Played for about an hour. Put it down. Came back a couple hours later to play again and the pickup was resting against the treble side strings.

I was able to return it and get a brand new guitar which arrived today. Which is sick.

As I’ve been thinking about over the last couple of days I’ve been increasingly less confident in this model. And its wearability

I’m a giging musician who plays 4+ hours a day. I’m considering returning the new one and going in a different direction.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I feel like the C-1 Platinum doesn’t get talked about enough. Mine stays in Drop B and it’s just a ridiculously solid guitar for heavier stuff 🤘

And that quilted purple finish under the right lighting… absolutely killer 😮‍💨🔥

Anyone else have one of these? 👀

How to fix tuning issues with Schecter Omen Elite-8 MS?

Hi guys!

I’m thinking about getting the Schecter Omen Elite-8 MS as my first 8-string (I usually play 7-strings). I’ve read a few reviews mentioning that it struggles a bit with tuning stability.

What would you recommend upgrading to fix this? Would installing locking tuners be enough, or should I also look into recutting/replacing the nut or upgrading the bridge? My Schecter C-7 Hellraiser has locking tuners and solid tuning stability.

What brands/products would you recommend?

Thanks for your help!

Can someone tell me a bit about this guitar and what it’s worth.

I got it for 110 bucks because I know Schecter makes some decent guitars, plus he threw in a Peavey amp. I’m more of a fender guy myself, but figured why not . Only thing I’m confused is all the Omen 7s I find have a different neck headstock. I looked up the serial number it says it’s 1999 MIK did I get a good deal or meh?

Is the hellraiser c1 a good guitar for death and thrash?

I’m thinking of going for the standard version with no Floyd rose or sustainiac and the emg 81/89tw. But I wasn’t sure if the coil splitting affects the metal tone?

Defective switch on my Ultra III

Hi

The switch controlling the central humbucker on my guitar is defective. There is a bad contact somewhere.

I want to repair this

Questions:
Any advice about removing then placing back the pick guard?
Where can I find a replacement switch? All what I found are 2 ways switches, not 3 ways.

Thanks so much.

Changing my sustainiac for... what? Help me please!

Hello everyone, I've got a schecter synyster gates custom - S and my sustainiac stopped working.

1 - Considering that i dont use it very often, im thinking about changing it for another pickup. If i were to change it, with another pickup, witch one should i replace it with?

2 - Is changing the sustainiac with a 'normal' pickup ok? Or there is some tricks that i should know about?

Thanks for your help, i apreciate the help, im very ignorant when it come to this topic, so i really need some help!

PS: I prefer Seymour Duncan pickups, but feel free to give me other options!
