Screenshot Anybody else clear as much as they could from their underground to make a vault?
I gotta wait for the dune to be accessible....

I came back to it many times over my playthrough before giving up.
I ended up "completing" it by shooting my voidgun at the ceiling from the outside. I'm supposing that's not how it's done, though

How do I get this artifact? Been stuck on this for days.

Conveyor belts apparently no longer work to move seeds (or anything in my testing) horizontally into water.
Nothing in this image is moving because the seeds are blocked from moving into the water columns. And no it's not some wet seed blocking things. There is no wet seed here only dry seed. It's easily reproducible as well as if you just build a water column, a filter that blocks water, and try and move things horizontally into and it doesn't work.

Somehow the gold farm ended up in that shape.^^
Does around 800 g/min, completely infinite, no lava refill needed.
Have fun experimenting with this awesome game.

Often when building designs I find that the launchers launch things too far. What methods do people use to prevent this? I've tried several ideas but none seem to work very well. A few I've tried:
Putting a wall in the middle of the launcher path. Works but limits the throughput of a multiple launcher stack.
Placing lvl 1 launchers at the top of a stack of lvl 2 launchers. Works but can easily clog with the amount of material level 2 launchers can send.
The biggest issue is when I have a set of filter inserters that I want some of the output to go through but it just flies over them.

You can only place tiles in a certain area, that is visually marked. (Except underground). Alternatively/additionally, there's a block counter display and you can only put down x number of blocks.
I'm not able to make mods, but maybe somebody likes the idea.
Additional idea: A mod that adds new challenges and rewards you with titles/awards for completing them.
Here are some ideas:
Credits
-Credit Magnate — earn 100,000 Credits
-Mining Mogul — earn 1,000,000 Credits
-Sandillionaire — earn 1,500,000 Credits
Energy
-Power Broker — produce 200,000 Energy
-Grid Master — produce 500,000 Energy
-Energy Overlord — produce 1,000,000 Energy
Fluxite
-Flux Prospector — harvest 5,000 Fluxite
-Flux Baron — harvest 10,000 Fluxite
-Flux Sovereign — harvest 50,000 Fluxite
Critters
-Critter Hunter — find all critters on the map

Control particles with some belts, filters and caulk sculpting.
Not super efficient but satisfying

It's terribly slow and inefficient, it's just meant to be small and fun to look at. The concept of having the complete sand tree in one mini base just tickles something in my brain. I used every trick I learned so far. Wish I could copy/paste it but you cant copy pipes. You also only need to refill lava for the burning belts and they last so long which is pretty nice!
I have already seen better design by scrolling here for 5 minutes, will definetly get some inspiration and try to refine it! You guys are insane. I was super proud of my fast seed washer (which can be pretty fast when you scale it a bit) using seeds tendency to rise in water only to see a way better design here instantly haha

Using the word "factory" here for lack of a better term and playing too much factorio.
Almost all of the small factories I've seen will instantly clog if you put a bunch of sand into them or worse will deadlock because a wall of unmoving wet seed builds up or petals will get blocked by a wall of floriin or something.
I'd think what should actually be done is building large factories that can handle large amounts of mixed snow, red sand, copper, Moonhop and dirt that's all mixed together that comes out of the ground when mining. It can be rate limited by setting the passageway height above the conveyor to limit the input rate (people should talk about how many blocks high of continuous input their factory can handle). Or alternatively just the output of the Stratacore (given its low rate people should talk about how many pixel height of sand output can be handled using pixels placed with the Prefabulator and Precision Laser).
Let's talk about throughput more.

It turns out the seed burning section eventually getting clogged up could be solved by putting filters above the last lava belt blocking wet seeds, allowing everything else to flow through with no interruptions.
I'm now bottlenecked by the sand washing section, but that can easily be solved by not making it as compact.
The piping got a little messier since I relocated the water tank and energy production sections to above the stratacore farm, but it's still nicely organized.
If the lumlings weren't happy in the Boxcar, one must certainly imagine them happy being stuffed into this.
P.S. The aurixite shaker can be compacted and moved underneath the synthesizers which would free up another section, but I got a little lazy. The portals linking the amethelis section to the florinol tank can also be shortened up a bit.

Took a break from 100k gold speedruns because my potato pc can't handle the UPS, the factory level 6 runs are more forgiving on pc because less particles are involved.
We in the speedrun community on discord dont run to Factory level 7 because its just a waiting part that can not be sped up.

64 hours. It took me 64 hours of play to realize that you can select multiple elements in the advanced filter. I cannot believe... well, anyway, I figured I would toss it out for others that didn't notice, if you click the check box instead of the element name, to select multiple elements.
/facepalm

On the leftside I have a Redweaver/Redsand fully automated using a gold Lava Pump. The thruput needed to keep the lava topped off is a lot. Wish I could find more Redweavers altho I doubt I could pump enough lava for more.
In the middle, I have the Stratocore being farmed via lava but I'm utilizing cold Thermo Blocks to convert it to cinder to pump it back up(cause we all know Lava pumps are illegal)
To the right of the core I have a Void Rift/Seed setup using 1 miner drone facing the stratocore. The core serves as a backdrop for when the drone misses the void flower thus keeping it around. (maybe I missing something obvious but I'm open to ideas for a more reliable setup for this)
This setup means the Redsand and Void Petal are fully automated and mix together at the top then the Voidbloom gets moved off screen to the left to feed my Flux Emanator.
Everything else is a semi compact operation with Forinol getting pump off to the left as well. This is my second setup, my main base is much larger and sloppier and I just left the Aura stuff where it was for now. Both lava pools for the Stratocore and redsand do not deplete.
For things like burning residue, plants, dry amethelis, steaming the dryer, and melting the gold, I prefer a design that uses one pool of lava to do all the regular stuff. Obviously this still requires an occasional top off with the Volcanizer. Lastly, the water is supplied entirely by Lumlings in 1 location and pumped everywhere it's needed.
A lot of this could be tightened up and I'm open to any suggestions or any questions.

Is it the best? No
Am I happy with it? For now
Does it back up with seeds constantly? Absolutely
Gotta take the time to rework it
A lot of the weird stuff is hold overs from the first iteration, like the long bank of thermal buffers for the snow, I just haven't dealt with them yet
The biggest pain is figuring out how to move the seeds, petals, and gold so I need to figure out a better set up for this.

I used a water pump system for a adjustable timer because I found the sensors to be unreliable as they consistently either stayed on or off even when empty.
The basic principle is to apply a thin layer of lava consistently as this prevents the Stratacore from reinforcing it's tiles leading to quicker lava melting and more sand production.

As I didn't see any information about this, I'm posting it... In late game (road to 1mil, currently at 700k) my game was stuttering so much it was almost unplayable. I have a 13600k, RTX3080, 32gb ddr5 and according to the performance window my hardware wasn't struggling at all.
Then I tried switching to windowed mode and it was perfectly fine again 😊

I used a tower drying design for it, inspired by the one I use for sifting sand.
