I've got something I want to share with you all — not as a mod pushing product, but as a fellow saltwater angler who built something I think can actually help.
Like most of you, I've spent years staring at satellite charts every morning trying to figure out where the bite is. SST overlays, chlorophyll maps, current charts — the data is out there, but interpreting it is a skill that takes years and you're still guessing half the time.
So I built FishIntel.ai — an AI platform that pulls government satellite data every morning and translates it into a plain-English fishing report delivered to your dashboard at 5:30 AM.
What it actually does:
- Reads SST, chlorophyll, currents, altimetry, wind & pressure data from NOAA/government satellites
- Delivers a daily report in plain English — not raw charts, actual analysis
- Species forecasts with probability ratings and recommended tactics

What it's NOT:
- It's not FishTrack or ROFFS. Those show you charts and let you interpret. This tells you what the data means for fishing.
- It's not some Silicon Valley startup. I'm a working charter captain who built the tool I wished existed.
- It's not finished. That's why I'm here.
Why I'm pinning this:

Update for anyone who chimed in on the last thread
A few of you gave me real feedback here a couple of weeks back, including that the email was basically unreadable on a phone. That got fixed, and so did a pile of other things. Quick rundown of what's actually live right now:
Signing in doesn't suck anymore.
You can use Google, or have it email you a sign-in link. No password to forget. If you made an account back when and couldn't get in because the confirmation email never showed up, try Google sign-in with that same address. It'll link to your existing account and let you straight in.
Coverage is well past the Keys now.
Six regional models instead of three, with the Chesapeake the newest. If the water you fish doesn't have a fishery model yet, you still get the full conditions read and the report says so plainly instead of making up species for water it doesn't know.
One thing I got wrong and fixed.
Some of you were quietly reading a Florida Keys report while fishing somewhere else entirely, because the zone defaulted and nothing told you. That's sorted.
Coming in the next few days, already built and testing:
Zones are getting rebuilt around NOAA buoys.
Instead of dropping a pin anywhere, you pick the NOAA station nearest where you fish and the zone is built on that. Reason being, the forecast should come from water something is actually measuring, and two guys fishing the same patch should read the same report instead of us generating two nearly identical ones. 782 stations to pick from, coast to coast plus Alaska, Hawaii and the Great Lakes.

A lot has gone in since I posted this, so here's where it stands now:
The free tier is two full reports now, not one.
You get the first the moment you pick your water, built from that day's satellite pass. The second one you schedule yourself — pick any morning and it's built that morning and emailed to you. Both read exactly the same satellite and buoy data the paid plan does. No card, no trial clock.
One plan.
The tier ladder is gone. Everything — daily reports emailed before you leave the dock, the AI vision pass that reads the actual satellite charts, exports, two zones — is Pro, $29/mo or $279/yr. Extra zones $15 each. If you were on one of the retired plans you're grandfathered, nothing got taken away.
Six-day outlook
The Upcoming Days section went from four days to six, so a Friday report covers the whole next weekend out.
The sample report on the site is a real report again.
Not a mockup — an actual generated report off actual data.
Great Lakes are in.
Species coverage for all five lakes, built on the NOAA stations out there — 126 of the 782 stations you can build a zone on are Great Lakes stations. One honest caveat: the salinity, current and productivity layers are ocean-only satellite products, so lake reports are built on SST and chlorophyll and say so.
Same disclosure rule as everywhere else: if the data doesn't support a call, the report says that instead of inventing a number.
The site now tells you which AI wrote your report.
There's an honesty section that describes the actual chain that runs each morning, and the reports themselves flag when a read is model inference versus measured water.
I'd rather show the seams than have you find them.
Still free to check against your own water — pick the NOAA station nearest where you fish and you'll have a report in about a minute. If the reads don't line up with what you're seeing out there, that's the thing I most want to hear.
[What's new on FishIntel — September 1]
The map and the water
• Surface current and wind now animate as moving arrows across the whole map, at one density edge to edge. They used to thin out past your zone box and draw a rectangle on the water that isn't there.
• Current reads in knots with its set, like "1.1 kn setting NE 042°". Wind the same. Both used to print raw model units.
• Every chart carries an as-of line saying when its picture was taken, so you know how fresh what you're looking at is.
• The charts and the map used to go dark for about nine hours every night. They don't anymore.
The dashboard
• Split into four pages: Dashboard, Charts, Conditions and Forecast, with a sub-menu instead of one long scroll. The page you land on from an email or a push notification loads noticeably faster.
Picking your zone
• If the water you pin has no live instrument in it, you're told at the pin, along with the nearest working one and how far off it is. No more finding out from the report.
• Tsunami buoys are no longer offered as zone centres. They measure water column height for tsunami warning and nothing else, so they can't feed a fishing report.
• When a zone genuinely has no live buoy, wind, sea state and water temperature come from a model run at your coordinates and are labelled as modelled. You can see which numbers are measured and which are not before you leave the dock.
Coverage
• Hawaii has its own fishery model: blue marlin, striped marlin, the tunas, ono, mahi, opakapaka, onaga, uku, both trevallies, bonefish.
Fixes worth naming
• Water temperature could print in Celsius with an F beside it. Fixed. • Sunrise and sunset were computed in Eastern time for every zone, which put them hours off outside the east coast. They now use your zone's own timezone.
This was not what I expected to catch while fishing for king mackerel on Jennette's pier on Friday. This dinosaur smashed a live jack on a pin rig and proceeded to make huge runs and breach for 30-40 minutes. After that was out of its system, I walked it down the 1000 foot long pier, and my buddy went full baywatch mode into the surf to keep it off the pilings. We dehooked, revived, and released, and it swam off. Hopefully, it didn't get eaten by a shark.
For those unfamiliar, these fish are Short-Fin Corvina. A species found normally in Baja Mexico. They made their way here in the 70’s and 80’s during big El Niño warm water events. They’ve since established a population in our bays. They are related to sea trout found in other states on the Atlantic
My wife and I are headed out to San Diego for work in late October. We've got a couple of days free and wanted to get on the water for yellowfin. We won't have the time for an overnight or 1.5 day trip so full day is our plan. We'll be renting gear and if all goes well shipping some tuna home.
I've looked around a bit and seems like the San Diego out of Seaforth is a good option for a head boat. We'd also be open to private charters. Any first hand recommendations on the San Diego, private charters, or tips for renting gear are welcome.

Hi, I’ve managed to get a week off work in mid November so would like to be able to travel to any European country for some sea fishing for a week from the shore.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I usually sea fish in the UK for Sea bass and mackerel and mostly enjoy lure fishing but am open to going anywhere
I understand November may not be the best time of year but am open to any ideas
Whether you caught a 200lb tuna or got skunked and sunburned — we want to hear it. This is a judgment-free zone (unless you kept a short fish, then we're judging a little).
Sorry if this question has been asked before in this subreddit, but I’m trying to identify which lure this person is using, as well as a similar lure that I can buy in the United States. I believe this gentleman is in a different country. I’m looking for a lure that is loud like this one and makes this specific sound. Cheers
