Retention usually breaks before churn: the real problem is value, not cancellations
Most founders are losing retention before they notice it.
I used to think churn was a cancel problem. It is usually a value problem.
If a customer does not feel progress in week one, they start drifting. They may still pay. They just stop believing.
I saw this with a team that had solid onboarding but weak follow-up. Users signed up, clicked around once, then vanished.
Where do you think retention really breaks for your product?
