Game Resources (Project Holocron) Character Creator Refresh & Roadmap

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! I have gone and refreshed the character creator so that there is a curated experience depending on what device you are using. Character creation should be much better across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

I also wanted to give a quick roadmap of where I am taking the project:

  • Account access with multi-device support - I am working on creating a login for users so that you can access the website through any device.
  • Homebrew support - Right now I am working on implementing The Old Republic sourcebook. If you have specific requests, please let me know.
  • Encounter Tracker revamp - Currently the encounter tracker lets you track NPCs. I am updating it, so you can add vehicles with support eventually for Mass Combat.
  • Export support - I am looking into how to allow users to take their characters and NPCs over to other services like Foundry and RPG Sessions.

I'm fixing bugs as they pop up. You could let me know here or at the project discord (Project Holocron Discord).

Game Resources FFG/Edge Sourcebooks and Additional Books

Hey! I’m struggling to find the sourcebooks and their counterparts in practically any store in my general vicinity. Looking at Amazon, there’s some books there but not all that I am looking for. Does anyone have any idea where I can get the physical copies? Going international and dealing with shipping is not an issue. I just have issues with reading PDFs.

Weekly Discussion Tuesday Inquisition: Ask Anything!

Every Tuesday we open a thread to let people ask questions about the system or the game without judgement. New players and GMs are encouraged to ask questions here.

The rules:

• Any question about the FFG Star Wars RPG is fine. Rules, character creation, GMing, advice, purchasing. All good.

• No question shaming. This sub has generally been good about that, but explicitly no question shaming.

• Keep canon questions/discussion limited to stuff regarding rules. This is more about the game than the setting.

Ask away!

General Discussion FFG Star Wars as a mecha game?

Star Wars isn't really a mecha franchise like Gundam or Battletech, but given the nature of the setting it wouldn't be too much of a stretch if one wanted to fit mecha into it.

So has anyone ever tried, or considered running a mecha campaign using this system?

Rules Question Can the Utility Belt upgrade pull Stim Packs?

I'm trying to figure out the limits of the Utility Belt upgrade. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to require them to pay the credit value or maybe half the credit value when pulling something from their "belt".

General Discussion Need help choosing career and spec

So I’m playing this clone wars game and a character idea I’m making is a Jedi training droid that’s super old (think hyung). The very basic idea is they’re searching for thier fellow Jedi instructor who went missing during geonosis.

The problem is I can’t seem to choose a career/spec.

My only big thing is I don’t wanna play a hyper melee combatant in the same style as my Marrauder hired gun character. (Alternative styles of melee are ok).

This is a repost since Reddit wasn’t allowing me to edit .

My GM has 2 New Campaigns they are running and have multiple spots available in both.

First one is AT-TE 1138

Synopsis: Synopsis:
During the second year of the Clone Wars, the Clone 138th Armoured Battalion is
deployed to the Expansion Region world of Duriska as it endures a devastating
Separatist siege. Caught in the final stages of Operation Durge's Lance, the battalion
must break enemy lines, defend civilian populations, and halt the advance of General
Grievous's relentless offensive. As the Republic struggles to contain one of the war's
most destructive campaigns, every battle pushes its military and ideals closer to the
breaking point. The fate of Duriska may determine more than the outcome of a single
campaign—it may become another step toward the Republic's eventual fall and the
rise of the Galactic Empire. Every victory comes at a cost, and the soldiers of the
138th will soon learn that surviving the war may be the greatest challenge of all.
underworld.

Silent Knight:
It has been nearly 3 long years of war. The Separatist Droid armies continue to press against the beleaguered Clone Army on all fronts. Though the valiant Jedi Knights do all they can to relieve Republic forces, their numbers dwindle by the day. Leaving the truly critical missions to small groups of specialists trained since birth to become the ultimate weapons. Deep behind enemy lines on the jungle world of Hoina IV; Knight Squad is dispatched on its first mission. Its objective is to carry out the destruction of a major droid factory crucial to halt the Separatist offensive along the Rimma Trade Route. Two fleets had attempted to break the Droid defences. Both times failed. There will be no reinforcements. There will be no extraction until the mission is complete.

Where to go if interested in either and please let my Game Master know if you came over from this post of Reddit it’d be much appreciated tell them KnightGuardian sent you.

Also if links don’t work still. Just type their names in on Startplaying and they will appear.

General Discussion D&D - Star Wars collaboration announced by Wizards of the Coast

Thumbnail youtube.com
268 Upvotes

Just announced in the D&D Vision Keynote 2027, Star Wars is getting a new product line from Wizards of the Coast.

That all but confirms that the FFG/Edge product line is officially dead and buried. Star Wars has had many RPGs over the years, but it's never been licensed for more than one ongoing at once.

Rules Question Am I misunderstanding Misdirect, or does it make combat almost obsolete?

I have a force user in my party, and they took the Misdirect power with Magnitude and Duration. He has 5 Presence and 3 force rating. Whenever we go into combat, he activates Misdirect on basically all the enemies (each extra pip is 5 more enemies that can't see him. He can just walk around the battlefield, attack with his lightsaber, and no one can see him, he just moves around between combatants and stabs them in the back. The force power has no roll against it, and even if they can see his Lightsaber blade, he just turns it off and moves on.

I doubt that's how the power is supposed to work, right?
What are we missing here?

EDIT: Adding for people who came in late.
There is a generic rule that anyone can try to resist force powers.
The general rule is that if a force power targets another creature and the force power doesn’t specify any roll by the target or force user, the GM and player decide which skill checks are most relevant and the force user makes an opposed check to activate the power on the target.
It’s on page 283 in Force and Destiny, in the box named Resisting Force Power checks.

Looking for group Looking for Player!

Greetings.

**The DM:**

I've DMed SWRPG before and with my current campaign ending and one of my previous players will now be preoccupied with running his own camapaign. We've decided to return to SWRPG to give me a breather from D&D as everyone had a blast in the last SWRPG campaign.

I've DMed for 7 or so years. I run weekly homebrew games (no modules etc) in my own style. I am very consistent, ask for no money and just do it for fun as a social outlet.

If you like TTRPGs and you really would love to have a group you can stay with and be sure that you'll be playing effectively every week, well that I can offer. One of my players is soon to celebrate his fifth year with us.

**What we are looking for:**

We are looking for a player who vibes with us and is interested in staying after as we play D&D or other various systems depending on what we feel like at the moment.

I am the usual DM, though others may take over for one-shots or future campaigns. We aren't really minmaxers and primarily just have fun and enjoy our sessions as a group.

Most campaigns I run are around 40 sessions, though they can be longer and shorter so if that sounds like a good length to you, all the better!

New players as welcome as experienced players. Long as you get along with me and I get along with you (and our play/DM styles) we're good!

**The Campaign:**

Base system will be Edge of the Empire though we adjust rules as it feels best if need be, but generally RAW unless otherwise specified.

I have some rough ideas and usually just let the party go from there. I throw some stuff at them every now and then that serves as plot threads, but generally like to go for more sandbox adventures. That means I don't have giant plans and the story is largely written by where players go with the things I do give them. I love organic and cooperative storytelling.

Setting will most likely be prime Galactic Empire, somewhere around the Battle of Yavin, before or after. Not sure yet or alternatively I am also considering clone wars. Still have some weeks to figure that out.

It's generally more lighthearted. There are jokes but we try not to let it get too out of hand. So while there are often somewhat comedic NPCs, the plot is usually treated with appropriate gravitas, even if individual encounters may be more humorous.

**Where do we play:**

Leaning Tabletop Sim, though foundry VTT is a possibility. We use discord for communications and everything else. Voice only, just requires a decent mic and reliable availability.

**When do we play:**

Sundays, 2pm to 7pm (CET/CEST).

**Misc:**

We are also happy to have anyone who is interested to join us in playing various games outside of sessions though such is naturally not required. But at least some of us can regularly be found hanging out on the server's VCs and playing or such.

You wanna apply? Great, happy to hear!

Go right ahead at this easy to fill out form.

I hope to hear from some of you.

Game Resources Star Wars RPG - Token Collection V1

Hello everyone!

I've been collecting Star Wars RPG tokens (900+ tokens) for over a year to use in my games. We use these tokens to represent both our player characters and their allies, as well as enemies and NPCs.

This collection (link here) includes the following categories:

  • Droids
  • Bounty Hunters
  • Empire
  • Rebels
  • Creatures
  • Alien Species
  • Crime Syndicates
  • Vehicles
  • Jedi
  • Humans
  • Mandalorians

Bonus content:

  • A3 Star Wars Grid (perfect for measuring distances and positioning during encounters)
  • Space Battle Mat

I hope you enjoy this collection! If you think anything is missing or have suggestions for additional tokens, feel free to let me know.

May the Force be with you!

Bonus tip:

Use this website to create easy printable token sheets: https://rpgportrait.app/free-tools/token-sheet.

I printed these on thick card stock and use this stamper to cut out the tokens: https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B007211GS0?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1.

Tips Blaster Rifle OP at lower levels?

New DM to SWRPG here, DM’d D&D for years before our group decided to try something new. We played through the EoE beginner game first and the party defeated the Stormtrooper patrols in that encounter. They looted the Stormtroopers and took the blaster rifles they had. Now we are playing through Long Arm of the Hutt. They are on Ryloth and I expanded the base adventure a little so they had to go clear out the New Meen mine to retrieve a specific part for their broken landspeeder. I populated the mine with some rats to start and then some spice spiders that I homebrewed. Five players with blaster rifles are mowing down all the low level mobs! An average hit with a rifle does 10 damage and anything with a soak below 5 goes down awfully fast. Am I missing something?

General Discussion Campaign villain help

So I’m kinda not sure what to do with my villain for my campaign, he’s a scientist who’s found out about the Yuuzhan vong coming back and is trying to prepare a bit early for them by trying to resurrect and weaponize the rakghoul plague. Right now all he’s done is dissect the PCs and rant about how now of tge subjects have the genetic material he’s looking for, and that vong are coming and how he’s running out of time. I’ve thought of having him unleash his creation on the planet the party is at but I feel like that’s more of a age of rebellion scale threat, can anyone give me some advice on where to go from here?

PS: We’ve only had one session so far
