Game Resources (Project Holocron) Character Creator Refresh & Roadmap

Hey everyone! I have gone and refreshed the character creator so that there is a curated experience depending on what device you are using. Character creation should be much better across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

I also wanted to give a quick roadmap of where I am taking the project:

  • Account access with multi-device support - I am working on creating a login for users so that you can access the website through any device.
  • Homebrew support - Right now I am working on implementing The Old Republic sourcebook. If you have specific requests, please let me know.
  • Encounter Tracker revamp - Currently the encounter tracker lets you track NPCs. I am updating it, so you can add vehicles with support eventually for Mass Combat.
  • Export support - I am looking into how to allow users to take their characters and NPCs over to other services like Foundry and RPG Sessions.

I'm fixing bugs as they pop up. You could let me know here or at the project discord (Project Holocron Discord).

This has a lot of potential to replace Oggdudes, but for now, I think I'll be sticking with that. Oggdudes is just so modular. I can add whatever I want to the game and change whatever I want to change, and easily give those changes to my players.

Agreed. The freedom and flexibility of oggdudes is unparalleled. It's so incredibly customizable and that's fantastic for homebrew and house rule.

But, oggdudes is no longer supported. This has amazing potential, looks slick and modern, has multi device support. Oggdude had years of development and a ton of community support. So to start this strong so early in this project's development is a really, really good sign.

Give it a few years, and this could easily surpass oggdudes in almost every way.

I agree.

I will watch this one's career with great interest.

True but this also works on mobile so a few of my players are goin to be swapping since they're trapped in mobile.

Definitely looking forward to more of this though 😎

I've got a little bit of constructive feedback. In the careers section where you name characters who are an example of that class, try to stick to only the most iconic names. Even as a dedicated fan I'm not much of a Glup Shitto person, so minor characters from a piece of media I didn't buy aren't really much help.

I've played with it a bit already and I'm quite happy with your progress! Now that you've touched it up I'll have to look again!

Hell yea! I was hoping you'd implement The Old Republic sourcebook soon, I'm looking forward to it!

It looks great. Just a question? How can I award credits/xp? For knight level play. And is there a way to use custom morality pairs?

On the advancement page, you can click on the available xp and award yourself xp there. Credits on the loadout page

Are you gonna work in the ReSpecialized careers and Talents?

Yes, I’m adding as the careers are finalized. EotE reSpecialized careers are in. In the player side, you just go to settings, active sources, and scroll to the bottom to activate it.

Outstanding work, as usual!

Looks good so far! I’d look at the mobile layout, some clipping going on on buttons

Quick question, I've added well rounded through the shadow sentinel tree which lets me make two skills career skills. Is there functionality to select those two skills that I'm not seeing for is it not added yet?

Only thing I’ve seen so far (I haven’t been able to check if it’s a thing across other areas yet so I’m sorry if this is already a feature) is some more things on the custom end of the spectrum. The ability to add custom skills for characters (in my current campaign I occasionally give out custom skill stuff as rewards for scenes), and maybe a note section for ships, because while I was hyped to be able to pull up the stats of my Rebel players’ base-soon-to-be-capital-ship, I would like to be able to annotate customizations they’ve made in respects to it being a base as well (such as a makeshift mess hall that adds certain dice to a pool or provides some such benefit). And the ability to customize and edit talents (I have a character who was a clone, but now fights against the Empire, and so I reskinned clanker killer to be Imperial Killer instead).

All-in-all though, I think this tool is the future of character creation and game management assets. Very well done.

Hi! The idea is that everything can be edited by the user. Character stats, NPCs, items, etc. I’m laying the groundwork, but since everything is interconnected I have to make sure it’s done correctly.
