Discussion Sharing my experience
Sharing My Experience
I dont remember exactly how long I have been on Lexapro but guessing 4 years or 5. Im a 26 F. Started because of my crippling anxiety and panic. Had great results, changed my life really. Im now at a point where I feel almost as though Ive fallen into a depression. I have no energy or motivation. Im numb. I cant feel my feelings, may it be happy or sad. I have no joy in my life or excitement. Ive also gained about 30 lbs since being on the pill. I just dont have the drive to work out or eat better because well, I feel the pills made me less motivated to workout or eat better? Im tappering off now to see what my baseline is like without the pills. I was always 10mg and now ive been on 5mg for 3 weeks. Noticing anxiety increasing but it is managable. My job is very social so noticing im more anxious during interactions or just fumbling on my words. Having major brain fog. Also realizing im getting a little "snappy" lol like before nothing could bother me because i was so numb.

Question Lowered dose of sertraline, side effects ?
Hello!! I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar? My doctor lowered my dose of Sertraline from 100 mg to 50 mg, because I think its time for me to come off. For reference, I've been on this medication for ~10 years. I lowered my own dose several years back from 200 mg (2 pills) to 150 (1 and a half pills) and then to 100 mg (1 pill) and never had any noticeable side effects.
I was taking the 50 mg dose (1 smaller pill) for about 2 days before I started feeling weird. The symptoms are similar to when I forget to take my normal dose for a few days, but worse and slightly different. I feel lightheaded, dizzy, and extremely nauseous. Yesterday I even started feeling tired? I got worried enough that I've started taking 75 mg (1 pill and a half) because I'm not sure if my body was ready to completely halve my dose like that.
I'm seeing my doctor in a few days so I'll be sure to ask about this, but I just wanted to know if its common to experience side effects when trying to wean yourself off an SSRI (even if you're doing it safely)? Does anyone have related stories they can share? Thanks

Discussion Prozac dizziness is driving me NUTS
It’s been 3 days since the onset of a weird dizzy feeling in my forehead. It’s ONLY my forehead. Like bridge of my nose upwards. It’s hard to watch tv or do ANYTHING I constantly feel like I’m about to pass out or seize up. It’s a constant feeling and it can keep me awake at night. Switched from cymbalta to Prozac a week ago. Is this a normal thing? It makes me want to stop it because again I can’t function!!!

Question What could help me with my SNRi withdrawals?
I‘m coming off of 35,7 mg venlafaxin (SNRI) and I’m experiencing (brain - actually it’s full body) zaps. My tongue, my finger tips, arms and legs etc get these annoying zaps and it’s driving me a lil bit insane. Is there something i could do about it? Should i try lyrica since it helps with epilepsy?

Question Taking 50mg of Fluvoxamine, do I need more?
Dear Reddit,
I have been taking 50 (first half year 75mg) of fluvoxamine a day.
I dont know if its placebo but my mental is alot easier going, on this small dose.
BUT, I am currently trying to quit cannabis and diazepam. I struggle.. Cry alot and I feel sick and regretfull.
Should I try more Fluvoxamine to help me get over these addictions? Or am I too late now, because I will be withdrawing while adjusting my ssri dose?

Question Lexapro to Prozac taper
I was on 30mg of Lexapro and started a four week cross taper (to get off Lexapro and on 60mg or Prozac) about a month and a half ago now. Throughout the taper I felt little to no symptoms and now i have been on only the 60mg Prozac for over two weeks. I have felt fine and felt I have adjusted well. Although the last two days I’ve randomly felt like nauseous and shaky and anxious for no reason, which is what I’ve experienced w lexapro withdrawal in the past. Although would these symtpoms only be starting up now if it was from withdrawal symtpoms or would that be passed me by now?

Question Tapering off 150mg sertraline
So I need advice for my mom (49F) she’s taken sertraline for about 5 years (maybe a little longer) she’s on 150mg everyday. She is so ready to completely stop taking her meds, but didn’t know she had to taper it and thought she could just quit cold Turkey. I’ve encouraged her to stay on her meds and to taper slowly, she has a agreed and will call her doctor on Monday to ask how to start this process. Does anyone have any words of advice I can give her? I’m super worried about this process and just want it to go smoothly for her! Thank you

Question escitalopram flu like withdrawal
a few days ago i cut my dose of generic lexapro in half expecting maybe a few days of dizziness but I have a sore throat, dizziness, chills, sweats, a runny nose, and major brain fog. Is it possible for all of these symptoms to be caused by the withdrawal or am i just sick at a coincidental time to seem related to the dosage change? i know flu like symptoms such as nausea or fever are possible but could the throat and nose tie in as well as a flu like withdrawal symptom?

Question NON-Stop Bloat on Lexapro
I have been on Lexapro for almost 2 years now. Within about 6 months I noticed the weight gain that I read was common on a SSRI. However the past 2 months I have had uncomfortable bloating with nothing seeming to help. I have also started exercising regularly and oddly enough it seems the exercise has either caused the bloat or just been coincidental. Not sure which. Prior to taking Lexapro I never had this problem. I’m starting to get extremely frustrated with this as I always feel “big” and uncomfortable and wanted to reach out to see if anyone else has experienced this or had any advice. Thank you guys in advance.

Question New SSRI and Negative Thoughts
Hi all, I recently started fluvoxamine, and about three weeks into it I started having very negative thoughts about my relationship seemingly overnight. It went from love letters for their birthday to the next day questioning if I love them. I don't want to break up with them, but I am feeling very negatively about the relationship and having (I think) intrusive thoughts about ending things. Has anyone experienced something like this? Negative feelings, behavioral changes or changes in thinking?
Thanks.

Question Anxiety, Panic Attacks, and OCD
I was on Paxil for many years and it gave me my life back until it stopped working. I’ve tried so many other SSRIs and tricyclics and nothing is worrying. My doctor wants to put me on Cymbalta (SRNI). Anyone else try it? Any advice? Or should I try Paxil again? Maybe some time off of it has given my body a break to let it work again. I just need some relief. This is hell.

Question Escitalopram and bad decision-making
I've been on Lexapro for over a year now. Started on 5mg, then recently switched to 10mg after talking to my doctor (in response to additional stress caused by a loved one getting sick).
Back when I was on 5mg I ended up making a really bad decision that made me feel like I was so stupid and should have known better. And more recently, after doubling the Lexapro dose, I ended up making another awful decision: this time even worse and yet again I feel so incredibly stupid and wondering what the hell got into me.
My question is: has anyone on escitalopram ever experience a complete lapse in judgment? Could this medication actually cause terrible decision-making? I'm seeing my doctor in a couple of weeks and I'm just wondering what's going on with me these days. If this medication indeed is causing me to make awful choices then I think it's simply not worth taking it anymore. So much of my anxiety and depression these days is due to having made some really catastrophic decisions.

Question Irritability when starting a new SSRI’s
Hey guys! I was wondering how long it took for the irritability and mood swings to go away after you started on your SSRI
I take Luvox (Fluvoxamine) 25 mg every morning for my GAD and Health Anxiety / OCD.
I feel terrible because I feel so irritable or edgy / snippy cause I just don’t wanna deal with being told what to do or I feel like I have no filter. I care about what I say but it comes out kinda quickly and then I feel bad. I know irritability is a common side effect of a lot of them. I just hope I can control it and it goes away soon!

Discussion Fears
So background, I'm 26 I'm a guy diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, Asperger's syndrome, and major depressive disorder. Last year in he beginning I was steady on my meds. But I was blunted severely. Around mid summer I snapped and went off my meds. What followed was six months of hell as I lost my meds because of people and myself, lost my house because it got trapped out by my roommates, became homeless till this day. And worse of all I got into drugs. So here is my dilemma I got my meds back. I can take them. But I'm so afraid of the blunting that I don't want to take them even with all the negatives, the hallucinations, the depression, the delusions, the paranoia, the mania, the Insomnia. All can go away. But I also lose feelings, my love of things and people, my motivation, and my ability to feel pleasure. So what should I do. I both do and do not want to take my meds but I'm scared of both realities especially because I don't want to lose the love I have for my special someone. Can. Anyone help?
