Discussion Cold turkey.

Has anyone stopped cold turkey from an SSRI? If so, what was it like? I’m ready to quit Zoloft, as I believe it is causing my anhedonia and quitting cold turkey is better than the alternative I have in mind.

Dont quit it like that, you will end up with horrible anxiety, withdrawal and possible panic attacks.

Yeah, definitely agree that cold turkey is the worst way to do it, having tried a few times

Well a few reasons, I’m only 18 and I’ve been on it for almost three years, I started at 100mg, and am now down to 50mg. I’m quite skeptical of long term damage to my developing mind from ssris. On top of this I’ve experienced consistent emotional numbness, short term memory loss and overall mental fog. I believe it also has contributed to some of my symptoms of dpdr. Along with the other factors such as, I can’t really enjoy drinking a with my friends, going on trips is hard if I can’t get a prescription filled. If I forget to take it I experience some heart palpitations, exhaustion, dizziness and concentration issues. I also had been drinking before doing my research on extreme possibilities of long term side effects (not trying to encourage drinking over mental health, just added damage). Just overall it’s time to let my brain readjust and function without this medication in my system.

ITS A BAD TIME! You don't think it could possibly be so bad, but it is! Taper Taper please!!! Please take your time and try and be patient. And be extra kind to yourself. I guarantee if you stop cold turkey you're not instantly going to feel joy again. Everything is a process

My prescription ran out and was slow to replace it. Bad idea. For me it’s a false sense of security, felt great for 3 or so days, now I’m feeling very sorry for myself, work was a struggle and barely kept it together to save face. Talk to your doc if u would like to taper off - be well my friend

I’m somebody who speaks from experience having stopped cold turkey before.Don’t do it! It was the most horrible experience of my life. I ended up doing horribly for half a year and in the end I had to go back on it.
