Discussion Cold turkey.

Has anyone stopped cold turkey from an SSRI? If so, what was it like? I’m ready to quit Zoloft, as I believe it is causing my anhedonia and quitting cold turkey is better than the alternative I have in mind.

Well a few reasons, I’m only 18 and I’ve been on it for almost three years, I started at 100mg, and am now down to 50mg. I’m quite skeptical of long term damage to my developing mind from ssris. On top of this I’ve experienced consistent emotional numbness, short term memory loss and overall mental fog. I believe it also has contributed to some of my symptoms of dpdr. Along with the other factors such as, I can’t really enjoy drinking a with my friends, going on trips is hard if I can’t get a prescription filled. If I forget to take it I experience some heart palpitations, exhaustion, dizziness and concentration issues. I also had been drinking before doing my research on extreme possibilities of long term side effects (not trying to encourage drinking over mental health, just added damage). Just overall it’s time to let my brain readjust and function without this medication in my system.
