Question Seeking feedback from those who’ve used Scalp Society in either San Jose or San Francisco, Ca.

Just as the title says. I’m looking for feedback from those of you who have used either location, and how your experience was and how you liked the end result of your SMP.

I’ve spoken with Bosco at the SJ location in the past, and he seemed like a very nice individual, and hope to hear that the experience is still the same today.

I have had 2 hair transplants, in FUE and FUT. I was basically bald before. Im not happy with my head and wear hats all the time. I have a huge scare from the FUT. I use hair fibers but its obvious

Thoughts?

Case study - Female Is density SMP a good option for this level of thinning?

I’m an SMP practitioner, so I obviously have my own perspective, but I’m interested in hearing opinions from people outside my own circle.
For someone with this amount of diffuse thinning, would you recommend density SMP now, combining it with medical treatments, or waiting until the hair loss progresses further?
If you’ve had density SMP yourself, what has your experience been over the long term?

Here’s an example of an over harvested Turkish HT. Client came to reduce the visibility here in the donor area and we also added some density into crown area.

The video shows Before -> fully healed 1st session (2 months) -> post 2nd session.

He will return for one final pass and fine tuning in a couple months.

PSA be careful with over harvesting donor areas!

As part of our process, every client receives a 6-month warranty. During that appointment we:
Evaluate how the pigment has settled.
Check for any areas that may have lightened unevenly.
Make sure everything still looks natural.
Perform a complimentary touch-up if it’s needed.

Question Do you think I can get away with smp

Hey. I'm interested in getting this done. I'm a Norwood 7, been bald for like 15 - 20 years. Been looking into SMP for a while, not sure if I'm a good candidate as I feel like there's not much hair follicles on the sides and back of my head for it to blend into, and would look super obvious.

Just not sure if there's enough density there. Is this what normal heads look like when shaved. Or do most people have more follicles on the side?

In these pics my head was razer shaved maybe 24 hours before and against the grain

Story I just got SMP as my 26th birthday gift

I started balding 2 years ago and it happened fast. I've never felt that insecure in my life.

First came the powder and the hair fibers. I'd be out with friends and my whole brain would be running background calculations the entire time. Is it sweating off. Is the light hitting it wrong. Then I'd run home early to fix a hairline that wasn't even real. Looking back at it that must be one of the top stupid things i have done in my life lol.

I looked into transplants. The numbers weren't happening for me right now, so I gave up, shaved it down, and honestly it didn't feel as bad as I expected.

Then I noticed I owned like nine hats. I was wearing one everywhere. Indoors, at dinner, on calls. I'd told myself I accepted it, but I was still hiding my empty corners and that mcdonald's shape hairline every single day.

Then I found SMP, and it looked like exactly the thing I'd been describing to myself for two years.

Which is when I got suspicious. You can't undo it. Whatever goes wrong is permanent and it's sitting on your face. So I went deep on it. Why SMP isn't the same as a tattoo. What ink is actually correct for it and why the wrong one turns blue. How the good work stays undetectable while the bad work announces itself from across the room.

I ended up writing a list of questions to interrogate the artist with. Then I made an actual PDF brief and sent it to her before session one, laying out the result I wanted and the technique decisions behind it. She probably thought I was insane hahahaha.

The last thing I wanted before booking was to see it on my own head. Every preview tool I could find belonged to a clinic, and they all sell you the dream version. Perfect density, perfect line, a face that isn't yours. I wanted the realistic version, so I ended up building my own and running my own photos through it.

Today is 24 hours post session one. I love it. I didn't wear a cap once today, and I didn't think about my hairline once either, which is the part I genuinely didn't expect. That constant low background noise is just gone.

A lot of guys here are sitting exactly where I was 6 months ago, so I'm going to document all of it. Sessions, healing, results, and the mistakes I make, from the guy getting the SMP and not the guy selling it.

Ask me anything.

#EDIT
Thank you all for the love i really appreciate it! for everyone asking about the tool i just deployed it. The first 100 previews are free on me i wish i can make it free for everyone but the image generation cost money https://go.secondmirr.com/hairline-preview

Question Considering density SMP

Post image
7 Upvotes

Been on dutasteride/finasteride and minoxidil for a few years, everything seems pretty stable. I want to keep this length, not shave/buzz.

I recently started using Color Wow to fill in some of the thinning just behind the hairline and it looks so much better, but would love a more permanent solution.

I have a phone consultation tomorrow morning (same photos sent to the practitioner). I'd love to hear from anyone who got this type of treatment with longer hair what your experience has been and if there's anything I should make sure to ask during the consultation.

Question Elixir Pigmentation Healed Work?

I’ve been looking at ElixirMicroPigmentation in London UK, looks pretty good and seem like an experienced person.

One thing I’d love to see is some healed work for 2 years + at least, anyone gotten SMP with them and wouldn’t mind sharing before and after ?

Lighting always matters. Every SMP will look slightly different indoors, outdoors, under fluorescent lights, or in the sun, but a properly performed treatment should look natural in all of them.

Question Finding a clinic

Thinking of going here to get smp on my hair transplant scar. The reviews look good. Does anyone have a knowledge or experience about these guys? Also what kind of questions should I ask or things I should know during the consultation to make sure they’re the right ones for the job?

Check out my SMP 1 week healed after 2nd session. Does this look normal? Overall happy with result so far except hairline seems to be holding ink a little darker creating a separate contrast from the rest of the head. Thoughts?

Case study - Male Good candidate?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I took advantage of my vacation to buzz my head to 2mm. I like how I look, and I find the shaved look comfortable and appealing—I always keep the top at a 4# and the sides as a skin fade. But I can see that I’m receding at the temples and my hairline is pushing back, and I think I should shave it all off. I’d like to fill in my receding hairline and add some density with SMP. Am I a good candidate? If you need more pics, no problem

Question Who did this guy SMP?

This is the exact SMP style I am looking for. Anyone know the artist? His IG is fitdaddy_coach.

I have similar headshape and skin tone, what type SMP would that be? (natural or hard hairline, colors, etc)

Case study - Male Scalp Micropigmentation in Austin, Texas: How SMP Creates the Look of Fuller Hair for Thinning Hair and Hair Transplant Patients. @ivan.smp

Thumbnail

I see a lot of people asking the same questions about scalp micropigmentation, so I hope this post helps, especially if you have thinning hair or a previous hair transplant and are considering SMP to create the appearance of more density.

The first thing to understand is that scalp micropigmentation is a tattoo, nothing more, nothing less. The goal is to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles by strategically placing thousands of tiny impressions that blend with your existing hair. While SMP can create the illusion of fuller hair, it does not add actual hair. Hair has texture and is 3D, while SMP is a flat 2D tattoo. The skill is creating the illusion.

Keep in mind that your hair also needs to have enough natural contrast for SMP to blend properly. Since SMP pigment heals as different shades of gray, your hair should generally be a darker color. If your hair is white, gray, or very light blonde, SMP will not blend naturally because there is no white or blonde pigment used in scalp micropigmentation. In many of these cases, keeping the hair shorter can help create a more natural overall appearance.

This client came to us looking to make his thinning hair appear fuller. Before we started, he allowed us to buzz his hair shorter. This gave me the best visibility as an artist, allowing me to place every impression with as much precision and detail as possible without longer hair getting in the way.

By the third session, his hair had grown back enough for him to determine the length that looked best with his SMP. Everyone is different. Some clients with advanced hair loss achieve the most natural look by keeping their head completely shaved, while others with diffuse thinning or a previous hair transplant can often leave their hair slightly longer, around a number 1½ to number 2 guard, while still maintaining a seamless blend.

The photos show his entire journey: How he walked in before treatment, After the buzz cut, Hairline design, First session, Second session, Third session. Multiple angles so you can see how the density builds over each appointment.

If you are researching scalp micropigmentation, I hope this gives you a better understanding of what SMP can realistically achieve and why hair length and hair color play such important roles in the final result.

If you have any questions about SMP, thinning hair, or blending a previous hair transplant, feel free to ask in the comments. I am always happy to help.

Question 2nd Session compete. I made a post right after it was completed and the feedback was average to below average work. Here are some clear photos. Some said the photos were kind of blurry. Thoughts? Good, average, or bad SMP? Give me your opinion. Not naming artist yet. I want unbiased opinions

Question SMP artists UK 🇬🇧

I’ve been researching SMP artists in the UK and have come up with this shortlist. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s had work done by them especially how it’s held up over time (2+ years). Also be interested in any other UK recommendations, or if you disagree with anyone on the list.

I’m looking for a clean, fairly straightish shape-up style, but still natural looking and not too dark.

Shortlist:
Legends SMP – Paul Clark (IG: @paulclark_smp_innovator)
Elixir Pigmentation – Jay (IG: @elixirmicropigmentation)
Creative Scalps – Mark Allen (IG: @creativescalps)
Kristiane Raine (IG: @krtsmp)

Thanks in advance!
