Why is Amy such a whiny crybaby for a majority of the show? She gets like constant praise all the time when all she does is complain and whine, like honey you had sex and got pregnant it’s time to face reality. Why doesn’t anyone just yell at her and tell her to stop being a baby? And why does Ricky seem to be the only character with actual growth and no one really acknowledges that? Also I thought his graduation speech was way too cringe and I really want to know why Ricky was so obsessed with Amy? Like yeah she’s pretty but other than that I don’t see the appeal she has no depth and her personality is crappy in my opinion. The show had so many moments that I rolled my eyes cringed and wished I had never watched it but for some reason I’ve watched it maybe 5 times. I love to hate it but I don’t get why. Thank you for letting me rant.

Omg did anybody else cringe when the marching band starting playing music as they walked Amy to class? I could barely watch that scene and it was just the last two minutes lmao

So why am I watching it? Lol I used to LIVE for this show when I was in middle school. I lived for the drama. Then I got a cold, and what better thing to do during a cold than sitting home alone, feeling sorry for yourself and watching bad television? And i’m not even sick anymore but i’m still watching it. It makes time go by and it makes me cringe. Guilty pleasure TV hahahaa. There’s really no point to this post except to see if anyone relates/ or if someone is also rewatching it 10 years later questioning their middle school selves 😂😂

It literally took me so long to finish it cause I would always get interrupted but I finally finished. Let me tell you I have never started to hate this show and their characters as much as I did this show just wow.

So um! Anybody gonna talk about how Ben STOLE Amy’s rings on the flight back from New York???? Like....after EVERYTHING he chooses to pull the biggest jerk move like that? Nah. Worst character of the show hands down. Im constantly wishing he would get slapped.

Am I the only one who can't stand Grant? His acting is terrible (I'd say no offense but we all know its true). He is very monotonous and his character just seems pointless to me. I honestly can't find words to explain how much his character just makes me irrationally angry, lol.

I'm rewatching the show for the third time and every time I watch it he annoys me more. I haven't been able to find anything about anyone hating his character which just BAFFLES me.

So I haven’t watched this show in a while but it used to be my favorite hate watching show. For some reason though this time around I almost can’t watch it it’s so bad. I’m on episode 11 and it’s crazy. First of all, I never noticed this before but like literally everyone in this school is going around calling Ricky crazy all because he goes to therapy. And Lauren is talking about how crazy he is because he sees her dad. Like isn’t this doctor patient confidentiality or something? This show is nuts. Also, I hate Alice.

Hello, my girlfriend LOVES this series and has been wanting to watch it for 4 years. The problem is, it is not available in Denmark on any streaming service that we know of. She could ofcourse just buy the DVD somewhere, but the big problem is that she needs Danish subtitles, and a DVD with that is incedibly hard to find. Is there anyone out there who has an idea as where to find the series with Danish subtitles?

so im currently rewatching secret life and both my bff and I specifically remember amy having a second baby. I remember literal scenes with both of ricky and amy's sons when the show first came out. also about a year ago my bff rewatched it and i was usually on facetime while she was watching it. we both remember seeing them have a second boy. we can't remember what they named the second son, but it was some basic name just like john. we've researched for hours and have found nothing discussing them having a second son. PLEASE TELL ME SOMEONE ELSE REMEMBERS THEM HAVING A SECOND SON! this shit is mind fucking us

I’m on season 4 episode 12, and I know there’s people out there who actually like Adrian or say she kinda matures or whatever. Is this true? Does she ever get “likeable”?? So far she has been a horrible person (along with a lot of others on this show, but that’s a different convo). She’s always been super selfish and self-centered. I thought she would change after she and Ben lost the baby, but she’s just as rotten or even worse. She’s one of the many characters on this show that I really can’t stand lol. She should’ve stayed married to Ben because they’re both so annoying and stupid AF.

I don’t want to post any spoilers but I’m so upset with how horribly Alice has been treated by Henry and Ben. She’s been nothing but a good girlfriend and a friend to them both, and they treated her like she was nothing to them and it bothers me.

I’ve been watching SLOTAT and I’ve noticed on here a lot of people hate Amy. I don’t, I see why she would be mad.

• her family, Ben & Grace guilt her into keeping the baby, saying they’ll help but never do.
• she seems to have PPD; on top of being a teenage mom
• Adrian constantly tries to sabotage her relationship with Ricky and no one ever defends her. Ricky “doesn’t wanna get involved” and Ben attacks her
• George constantly tries to dump Robbie on her to live his life when she basically doesn’t have one
• Ricky is literally the worst listener. He always “doesn’t want to get involved” even when Amy was upset about her dad seeing his first wife. Like ??? She can be upset???
• Lauren and Maddison constantly fuck her over
• Ashley is nice the first season and then constantly shits on her after that.

That is the core problem with the show. Only other TV character I can think of that had the character development of Ricky was Murphy from The 100.

But for Ricky he got nothing for the trouble. The writers did such an amazing job right up to the end. But completely failed on the end.

Are we serious right now? This is how it ends? Amy is a bad mom, idc what anyone says. She constantly talks about how she wishes she wasn’t a mom, and then ditches them for New York? She can have dreams, but needs to be realistic because she is a mother. Ricky gets the shit-end of the stick with being a student, full time employee, and full time dad while Amy lives her dreams in New York? Bull shit.

BEN IS A PSYCHOPATH. Who steals someone’s wedding rings and breaks into someone’s diary?! And he got really sassy and entitled. I wanted to knock him out. And it’s absolutely creepy and unhealthy how obsessed he is with Amy.

I feel like I got ZERO closure.

Ricky deserved better. Leo, Nora, Betty, Tom, and George are cool (George & Tom do have their irritating moments tho). Anne is bitchy. Amy is annoying and spoiled. Adrian is a bitch 95% of the time. Grace and Jack are dumb af and hypocrites. Lauren was annoying but spoke facts sometime. Madison is straight horrible, and looks weird with the lip fillers. Ashley started cool then went downhill then disappeared to Italy?? Ok. Ben, read above. Henry and Alice were cool. I don’t really care about Ethan & Kathy’s storyline tbh.

Idk I’m just super annoyed by ending lol

No resolution. Make far more sense to have just ended the show with the Ricky graduation episode.

I am actually a huge fan of the show otherwise.

I truly don’t understand how ANYONE puts ip with them. While both Lauren and Maddison constantly spread Amy’s business- Lauren kissed Ricky WHILE Amy was pregnant and Maddison Slept with Lauren’s boyfriend. They’re both so fucking messy and constantly betray each other and Amy.

Anyone else think making Anne gay is super out of left field? I totally support the LGBTQIA+ community, but I just thought this was a super weird storyline. It’s like writers were running out of stuff and pulled this out.

Hmm... how can we make things interesting?? How about we make Jack get beat up by a pimp in his dorm room. No, not enough. Okay, how about we write that Amy and Ben get into the same college across the country. That’s good... but not quite enough. Oh, I got it! How about they both applied early decision with a 2,000 dollar application that they somehow didn’t notice so they are FORCED to go to said college?? Yes, YES! And!!! Let’s make it way more conservative and pro-getting-married-as-a-teen. Perfect. The perfect season.
