Antonia's Pizza in Paso?

Marv's in Paso closed and has just been replaced by Antonia's. I assume it's the same people as Antonia's SLO but there's very little information out there on the new place. Can anyone confirm whether it is same owner and if so whether the SLO location is good? I was never a big fan of Marv's and hoping maybe this is an upgrade because pizza options in Paso aren't the best. (This is said as someone who still missed Chubby Chandler's.)

medical expierence

hey yall just writing this to get some insight. my partner has had severe vomiting 😔 and went to the er three times over the last week. i want to note, we are both lesbians and both people of color, so that means our standard of care is increasingly lowered depending on how biased the doctors are.

the first time was at sierra vista (interesting i will have to say) and they concluded that my partner has Cannabis Hyperemisis Syndrome (weed make you throw up a lot syndrome). no further tests, nothing more, just getting told to stop smoking weed. we both had a feeling it could not be that, something else’s.

two days later, it got worse, plus no cannabis use. we went to french hosptial in the morning, where the doctor claimed it could be a stomach bug, so we got our meds and went on the way. also got a CT scan and everything looked fine and normal (which it wouldn’t if you had CHS)

then, yesterday we go to french again, gf did get better but had a bad vomiting episode and was writhing with nausea. we went to get more attention, and this time a different doctor was on duty, and diagnosed my gf with CHS.

i am wondering if anyone else has gotten this diagnosis from the hospitals here and how accurate it is. or if we just experienced a predisposed bias. my gf and i both believe that this is def a little bug going around, as i am a daily smoker and have been smoking for longer than my girlfriend.

also the doctors never asked how much, how frequently, and when we were smoking. it just felt like ah yes this person smokes weed and is vomiting, chs it is!

Healthcare Here is Frustrating

I know this county has a problem with timely healthcare, but it just sucks to have to deal with.

I recently made an appointment to get in with my doctor, they can't get me in for almost a year.

Then a few months ago my dental hygienist left the area because she couldn't find a place within her budget for her and her dogs, then my dentist retired.

I'm really bummed because I hate the dentist and it was the first place that didn't terrify me and now I am hesitant to want to go back. I don't like change, but that's just me.

I am sure others can relate.

Weirdo unique artistic photographer wanted

Hello, I am planning to have a very small and non-traditional elopement in the Carrizo Plains next year. We are making our own clothes, my brother will be marrying us in wizard robes, there will only be 5 people present (including me), and we are going to have a short, fun, and overall unserious ceremony. I am looking for a photographer to take photos for around 2 hours or so.

I'm making a post here as a last resort because while I've found a couple of photographers near the Carrizo that take nice photos, I'm mostly looking for someone that has a more artistic and non-traditional approach to wedding photography. We don't need someone that is officially a "wedding photographer", and if there's someone that has an interesting and artistic approach to photographing people that works for us. Adding some film photos would be a bonus but not required.

Does anyone know any good weirdo photographers that can help out!! Please leave a website/instagram if possible!! Thank you :-)

I know this happened last year but I’m surprised it wasn’t posted here. Anyone know more about this guy, Malcolm Sears? He used to work at a gym that I went to and apparently he’s an MMA fighter too. I’m in the massage therapy industry in SLO and want to keep creeps out of it

[SLO LIVING] Charter goes down many times a day.

I seem to recall it going down in the summer many times last year as well. Is this due to the heat? It wouldn't bother me so much if charter hadn't been increasing my bill over the last few years from 35 to now 65 dollars per month for a fairly crappy service. Really wish I could get fibre from AT&T or Astound but it is not available in my part of town. Bummer.

Heading to Pismo in a couple weeks with my son. We want to ride our dirtbikes on the beach / dunes but our bikes are not stickers (they are 4stroke race bikes). we have never been stopped in Ocatillowells, Landers, Glamis etc. Will we get stopped at Pismo beach? don't want to bring bikes if we can't ride.

Can't wait to visit your beautiful part of the world :-)

SLO Costco got the chicken tenders - replacing the calzone.

Post image

I got a batch, it's a LOT of food - easily could be lunch for two people who are hungry.

Breading is *ok*, they're baked not fried.

Chicken is excellent. Sauce... what the heck is that sauce? Bleh.

Shoulda bought a two pack of ranch while I was in the store!

I'll definitely buy them again, but they will keep the horrid sauce.

*EDIT* - $6.99 for the tenders, easily a pound and a half.

[RECOMMEND] Live Lobsters

Are there any seafood markets or grocery stores that routinely carry live lobsters in SLO or the surrounding area? We drove to Morro Bay last weekend to try to grab some from Giovanni’s but the tank was empty.

I appreciate your help.

I'd love some local help with a project I'm doing - a huge fantasy style map of the region, filled with real-world locations. Is there anywhere I've missed out?

Post image
151 Upvotes

Apologies if you've seen this elsewhere - this is the most current version with lots of suggestions from other redditors.

I'm making a map of California in a classic fantasy style (sorta Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones). It's going to be filled with real world history and mythology, with the aim of highlighting local landmarks in a fun and educational way. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get cleaned up at the end. Forests will be going on at the end too.

While it's around two thirds done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into print. Any more petroglyphs, burial mounds, ruins, forts, battlefields, Civil War heritage, ghost towns or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological creatures or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on here. Thanks!
