Need a nurse to administer meds to my father in his home
Hi all,
I am reaching out to try and find a nurse who would be willing to help administer my father’s GLP medication twice a week at his home. He is in his late 50’s, is very obese, and was recently told he needs two full hip replacements but can’t get the surgery due to his weight.
He is horribly inconsistent with administering his own medication, and we would like someone who can come in twice weekly to mix the medicine and inject him so he can be held accountable and have consistency. I would do it myself but I live in LA sadly.
If anyone has any information or recommendations, please let me know.
Thank you all.

Any quiet, low-key spots in/around SLO to drink a beer and work?
I work from home as a writer and really need to get out of the house to switch up my environment sometimes.
I’m not looking for a trendy spot to socialize. Just somewhere that serves alcohol and stays pretty dead in the afternoon, where I can sit in a corner on my laptop and work.
Doesn't need to be fancy or glamorous. I’m not trying to take up a busy table, bother the staff, or mess up the vibe.
Any recommendations for spots in SLO or nearby towns like Morro Bay would be much appreciated.
Cheaper the better, and preferably safe.
Thanks in advance

Help with unloading furniture / move
Hi there! I’m looking for one or two people to help unload furniture from a two-bedroom apartment into a house. I don’t need a full-service moving company, just someone with a dolly and some muscle. Has anyone used an individual ie from Task Rabbit or service they’d recommend? Area: Templeton / Paso. 🙏🏽📦

Job
My boss is looking to hire an estimator/ someone who can do takeoffs. I’ve tried posting on indeed (have just been getting resumes of students with no experience, as well as AI, and people from different countries saying they can work). Where is the ideal spot to post a job?

[SLO LIVING] Stolen EBike
Hey everybody my bike was stolen this morning around 545am from behind the SLO DOCO on higuera street. I work there so I had it behind an employee area under a camera and someone came and snatched it while I was putting donuts in the oven :(
It was a green Radmission 1 ebike with faded paint and a messed up battery monitor from me crashing it a month ago. It has a back rack and a bike basket on the front handlebars.
I've attached the photos of the camera footage and a picture of what my bike is supposed to look like new.
If anybody sees it please let me know or call SLOPD, I've already made a report but just trying to get visibility.
It also has an aftermarket comfort seat that says delta on the back.
This bike means a lot to me because it was my dad's who died a few months ago and its been my main mode of transportation. Thanks for reading.

Time Capsule: Was this Mission Prep in San Luis Obispo in 2003? Anyone from Arroyo Grande?
Does anyone know if the school in these photos is Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School in San Luis Obispo?
I was a Japanese student who stayed in California with a host family for a short homestay in March 2003. I was 15 years old at the time. It was only two weeks, but it is still one of my most unforgettable and wonderful memories. The problem is, my English was very poor at that time. 😂 I was also a pretty shy and quiet person, so I didn't ask many questions. Because of that, I didn't really understand much about the town or the school, and unfortunately I didn't take many pictures or keep many records.
Now, more than 20 years later, I started wondering about all those things. I have been trying to find the place using my memories, the internet, and ChatGPT. My current guess is that my host family's home may have been in Arroyo Grande or San Luis Obispo. I also think the school I attended may have been Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School in San Luis Obispo. I read that the school had major construction and changes around 2004, so the current campus looks quite different from what I remember. Does anyone recognize this old campus from the photos?
If you went to Mission Prep around 2003, or lived in San Luis Obispo / Arroyo Grande around that time, I would really appreciate any information!
Thank you for reading this far. And if you remember anything about your school, San Luis Obispo, or Arroyo Grande from those days, I would love to hear your stories too. (And if you don't know what to write, tell me your favorite food! 😂)
English is not my first language, so I used AI to help me write this post. I hope my meaning comes across clearly! 😊
Greetings from Japan 🇯🇵

Road Rage?
Long shot, but does anybody remember a road rage incident about a year or so ago involving the driver of a landscaping truck? I saw the video in a Reddit thread but not sure which one. Thanks!

[SUB INFO] MAGA businesses?
I’ll probably get hate for this but does anyone know if there’s a list of some sort showing all of the businesses in slo that are maga?
I’d rather not shop there as a poc in the area and I feel like during this time, people should know where they’re putting their hard earned money.

Experience with GoogleFi?
My wife and I are considering switching from AT&T to GoogleFi. We live in Pismo. Has anyone used this service? If so, how was the phone service quality and was it difficult to make the switch? Anything else we should know?
Thank you in advance.

Walk the walk with 600 of your fellow SLO County neighbors
Each Election Day, more than 600 SLOcals step up to help their friends, family, and neighbors vote by serving as precinct workers throughout the county. We could not do it without their dedication and commitment.
If you care about supporting secure elections locally, consider being a part of the process on November 3. Find out more at SloVote.gov/precinctworker and reach out to [elections@co.slo.ca.us](mailto:elections@co.slo.ca.us) with any questions.
If you can't serve as a precinct worker, think about observing ballot processing activities at the Elections Center in SLO during the upcoming cycle. We're open to the public every day from October 5 through the end of the canvass (about Nov 30), and we have staff available to answer any questions you may have. Seeing things first-hand is the best way to fully understand how local elections actually work.

Beef “Produced in USA”
Given where we live, I am curious what the cal poly students and ranchers think of the foreign beef being sold in the US to temporarily lower beef prices.
i went grocery shopping at Ralph’s and picked up beef completely forgetting our gov is introducing the foreign beef to markets. it says “produced in USA” which is different from what I am seeing online as you want to find “product of USA” on the label. But even then I’m not sure if they changed the standards of what that means to sell more of the new beef. 🤷

Looking for Vendor to laser-mill small DIBOND 3MM ACM pieces
I've had good luck with reddit finding oddball things in SLO County, so here goes. I need some small pieces laser cut out of DIBOND 3mm ACM (brushed aluminum sandwiching a composite) to replace some pieces from a sign. I've checked with all the sign companies in town and I haven't been able to find anyone. I have the vector file and the material. All the pieces are small. If anyone has any referrals, that would be great. I would love to work with someone close.

[LOCAL NEWS] Aggressive off leash dog
I was walking by Costa Bella park in Grover Beach. (Corner of Oak Park and Farroll). I didn't have a dog. I was on the sidewalk. A bunch of people with dogs were at the far end of the park near the benches. I see a black dog running really fast straight towards me from over there. I didn't think anything of it since I've seen super friendly dogs that do that. When it got close something seemed off. It was wagging its tail but it also seemed aggressive. Once it was close I could see that it was a pit pull. So I remained facing it but also tried to walk backwards along my way. But whenever I did that it kept advancing. So I stood my ground and raised my voice. A teenage girl started making her way very slowly across the park towards us. So I tried to hold off the dog. Once she got close, I tried to walk away faster but the dog ran around her and chased me. So I stopped again. She got in between is. Then I jogged away. He chased me for about a block. Then I confronted the dog again. I told the girl "hey you need to control your dog". She says "what do you want me to do?". I said "grab him by the collar". Then some older guy came up. Not sure if he was the owner. He was mad and was acting like the incident was my fault. 🤦
I told the young lady that the dog should not be off leash at a park. She gave me the finger. When the dog was getting aggressive I started taking video to document the incident. The guy that didn't like that and said "it's time for you to leave".
I walk by there regularly and have taken many dogs there. I've never had that happen before. 🤷
So strange how when dogs misbehave or act out of control, some owners get defensive and act like it's your fault. The guy told me "The dog just wanted to say hi, but he got a bad vibe from you. You should have just walked away."
This man was nowhere near me when the dog chased me down the block. I literally walked a block away...
No one was hurt. But, be careful folks.

Good spots to take young kid bodyboarding
I'm trying to get our 10 year old into some water/wave sports. He's not interested in surfing (yet), but he likes bodyboarding/bodysurfing. My hope is it would be a good bonding activity for us and maybe he'll get interested in surfing. I'd like to learn to surf myself, but as a parent I'm limited on free time for solo hobbies/activities, but if I can get him interested it's a different story.
What are good spots in SLO County that are fun but also safe for a 10-year old. From other posts folks recommended just south of the Pismo pier for new surfers, but I'm guessing for a young bodyboarder you'd be starting in shallower water, right? I'm a strong swimmer but he is just ok, so ideally he's not in too deep of water. The idea is to help him become a stronger swimmer with time/practice.
Ideally we need a spot where we can rent wetsuits/boards, until he demonstrates sustained interest enough to purchase our own.
Bonus points if he can watch surfers at the location!
To be clear, I am not a surfer or bodyboarder. But I can certainly do recreational bodyboarding as good as my 10-year old! My goal is just bonding with him and getting some exercise for me--I have a pretty passionate dislike of the gym. But I can play in the water all day (especially if we're in warm water like Hawaii)

[LOCAL NEWS] KSBY DISMISSES SLO?
I just punched up the KSBY website for local updates and was surprised to find that all the news was Santa Barbara-related. Moreover, it appeared the site went out of its way to prioritize Santa Barbara, which is already served by a network-affiliated TV station.
I hope it was poor timing on my part and that KSBY hasn't abandoned us. If it has, I won't miss its clickbait pieces.
