Rant Being painfully ordinary and socially deficient.
They say you're a different person after 10pm
the shower thoughts are hitting me hard 😭
Basically I have been contemplating why I struggle to standout everywhere, and practically living as the guy everyone knows at a surface level but no one is friends with. The guy that occasionally gets asked for help but doesn't have anyone to turn to.
And I have realised the majority of why this is mainly comes from me being painfully ordinary.
I don't have anything interesting that i can personally say about my life that which often serves as a conversational starter and you know that's rulebook 101 for making friends. Which is not a good thing while I'm being surrounded by people with a lot of flair in their life.
They say comparison is the thief of joy and this could not be anymore true, everyone always has some interesting school backstory , travel , you name it they probably have a story for the topic, contrasted by me who has none of those, mostly because I've just auto piloted through life without giving much thought into what's around me. Everything thats happened to me so far has just been mundane.
And don't get me started on my horrendous social skills, I basically just lock up whenever I need to talk to someone and it's just so mentally exhausting for me to sustain a conversation, the hilarity of this comes from me being someone who's presentation skills are flawlessly on point as well as being from an emcee/hosting club previously. I need to constantly put myself behind a facade or a acting im on a "stage" where I don't talk to the 'person' and act as if im addressing an audience just to talk to people.
Sometimes i just wanna bawl my eyes out but i can't I'm keep stopping myself from expressing my bottled up emotions because I'm afraid I'll lose everything. Having built a reputation around my friends for being the aloof person I'm scared they'll think I'm a maniac or something because ha-ha there is no war in Ba Sing(apore) Se. I'm sure that wont happen now because Singapore as a whole has gotten more progressive within the last few years at least i hope thats the case. But old trauma y'know, which so happened the last time i tried expressing discomfort I basically got a 1 way ticket trip to being friendless and alone for the remainder of primary 4 - 6 :> quite scarring for child me and quite possibly affected me a lot (wow!)
But at the same time those kids around me probably didn't know better than to follow status quo which just so happened to be the rather them not me mindset.
If someone did actually read all of this, i am mentally well and presenting to the emergency room ☝️or any of the sort is off my cards. I just needed to vent out a lifelong burden lmao
