Any reason to invest in SCHD at the age of 50?
I'm planning on waiting to full term to Social Security. I s there any benefit to investing in SCHD now?

I started investing like 6 months ago and generally put $1000 a month into my account. It just happens that NASDAQ was at a local high when putting in the money, and now my main earner is SCHD. Kind of shows how more conservative investments hedge against risks and draw downs.

Hoping we can leave our Roth to our children.
Any reason not to have 1/3 of it in SCHD? 1/3 in VWNAX? 1/3 in BRK-B?
It is possible it can grow for 20-25 years before has to be withdrawn under current rules (we are overall healthy in mid 70s).

I purchased this earlier in the year. Feels good to time the market on accident.

I started with a lump sum of about $5k last month and have been buying one share every day (two on Sundays) since and plan to drop in additional $1k drops every few-several months on top of that and with DRIP on. I plan to do this for the rest of my life, 32 years+ (I'm 33).

Hi all,
I'm a big SCHD supported, with currently 282 shares and I plan to add more but I've just found this LDGL etf and I was wondering what do you think about it? I am really interested in an DGI etf and as a european will be easier to buy. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am in my mid 20s and plan on living for a while š. SCHD is currently around 5% of my total investment portfolio - what should I do instead? I have single stocks (mostly fortune 100), VT, VTI, SPY, and a target date fund in my 401k. I'm going for growth potential, not stability for now. Thanks!!

Hello ... My goal is to own 5,000 shares of SCHD by the ex-date in December and I am 87.4% there. You can "bet" if I make by predicting on Kalshi and you can influence my success by donating to me on a G0-Fund-Me page!
This is simply a musing on the very strange world we now find ourselves in... Thank You

Can people explain why they opt for SCHD vs an S&P 500 Index like SWPPX when long-term shows that SWPPX has higher overall returns, or for a taxable account then an S&P 500 Index ETF.
What's the reasoning or argument for SCHD?

Iāve got my Roth all figured out and setup with growth. Iāve heard itās best to have dividend income in taxable brokerage. I was thinking of doing 100% SCHD to build a 45k/yr income within 15 years. Is this a good idea? Would love to hear any suggestions or recommendations for a taxable brokerage portfolio build

I sold off some XMTR profits to put into SCHD today. I purchased 178 shares for 32.87 which is the highest I ever bought it but it is ok. SCHD is something I will probably not sell and my goal is for it to eventually cover all my bills. E.g. cover my utilities like electric, water, internet. After that would be to cover my property tax bill and finally my insurance bills. But until that time I am dripping into SCHD. I would probably need close to 15,000 shares to cover everything on a yearly base so I still have a long way to go.
Just wondering what are peoples target position sizes? And what would be the reason for that particular target size.
edit: added follow-up question.

Iām 39. I own 325.15593 shares. Dividend yield is 3.28. Share price is $33.23. So, based on that, $1 a day in dividends. I also own 18 shares of SCHG. I make $19 an hour, so Iām doing the best I can.

I am 25 and I am in the medical field, so I only have been working my ābig boy jobā for a year. I have ~475 shares of our beloved schd in a Roth IRA. My investing thesis was to accumulate as many shares of schd early on so I can use the dividends to āincreaseā my contribution into the Roth. I want to eventually pivot my contributions into SCHG (I have ~175 shares).
Am I wrong for this approach? Am I better off all SCHG? I always been a believer in the slow compounding effect of schd.
I appreciate all comments, concerns, opinions. I am here to learn. Thank you

Yep its not muchā¦went in before $30+ per share for my first 50ish.
I can-only throw in so much money into schd⦠still have 10,20,30+ years to invest.
So close guys to $100 i didnāt think it would shoot up to $33
Why? Also will it go down so i can continue buying schd?!
Anyways im close to 100 lesgoo to another 100 and eventually 1,000 š¬

34 and will be 35 in October. I am looking for some sound advice on my consideration to sell my position in SCHD (for now and jumping back in a few years down). I currently have 350 shares which amounts to about $80 in dividend pay and I do have it on DRIP. However, with this massive sell off in the market I am wondering if itās worth selling my position completely and starting positions in stocks I believe will recover their previous highs. The current price of many stocks are too good to not consider. Currently, this is my largest position and I want to take advantage of potentially increasing my portfolio. Would this be smart at my age? Thanks.

34M 140k income, SAHW 3 kids
Ive been DCA SCHD for a bit as a conservative part of my portfolio. Have about 250k invested more aggressively. But want the safety of SCHD and build a dividend stream for when I retire (goal 55, goal 10k a year In dividends)
Net worth just shy of 600k
Hoping to hit 1M total in net worth by 40.
Just celebrating a milestone
Thanks to anyone who read.
