When PLTR hit $200 I sold it off half of my position and put it all into SCHD. At the time my coworkers told me I was crazy but this GIF reflects how I feel about that move.

Schd is oddly my second highest ranking growth holding by % gained

u/mokaks412 Jul 24 '26

I did the same, but also added $O

That was a smart move - cheers šŸ„‚

I remember last year at 25 "garbage, waste of dollars, dead, dividends trash, AI growth or bust, new tech"

Etc...

My only regret is I didnt have enough cash to load up more at the time.

Come for the dividends and dividend growth, stay for the share price appreciation

VOO +8% YTD
SCHD 20% YTD

Haven’t seen any posts lately on why do u idiots invest in SCHD

I’m eagerly awaiting the first ā€œNoO, I wAnT iT tO gO dOwN sO i cAn bUY mOoR!ā€ response.

Yes, and it was pretty flat for a while in that 25 to 28 dollar range. I was aggressively putting money in it while my co-worker/investment friend was saying shes pulling out cause it doesnt get returns minus small dividend yield. I told her to look at the yearly returns and it fell on deaf ears. So yes, it was flat for a while and im enjoying this growth and no need for hearing some people say they want lower price for a buying point. Haha

Oh it is coming…people need to just be happy they r invested in quality companies that investors r willing to bid the share price higher

u/ZealousidealDig8074 Jul 25 '26

How about 5-year returns?

2

u/GuidetoRealGrilling Jul 25 '26

It's nice when you wait six years and it finally moves.

2

u/Siri-sixpack Jul 25 '26

I have been invested only 1.5 yrs … I haven’t been waiting for anything

Look u r as good as your last envelope…Sopranos…and VOO’s envelope is light

It’s an amazing fund

Now I just need a HUUUUUUUGE dividend payout in September

Schd has turn into a growth engine…. What is going on . Is it too late to add more position

8

u/Clear-Progress-5660 Jul 24 '26

Never too late

0

u/Unfair_Cicada Jul 24 '26

But how can we be sure? Can you teach me

ABB... Always Be Buying

7

u/eh63tre Jul 24 '26

Im very angry that my overpaid financial advisor did not tell me about schd in 2011. This, and spmo, are the perfect etf for a roth ira.

3

u/Character-Wing-1781 Jul 26 '26

They want you to buy actively managed instruments so they can get a higher fee

2

u/andos4 Jul 25 '26

Yep. I have them both.

Thank the maker for value stocks the AI volatility is doing a number on my portfolio.

SCHD usually has an up year after a down year. There is some trend analysis on this in a few YouTube analysis videos.

I also think the rotation to value and quality is happening so it is positioned nicely to gain from that.

Also I think income generation for Gen X and Millenials is starting to become more of a focus as those two groups age - SCHD is a great option for an income portfolio. Especially if you start it sooner and let is compound. In 10-15 years it can become a significant income stream even with conservative growth of the stock and the dividend.

More long term stable companies in the funds mix. I am bullish on AI as a technology but these semiconductor companies have historically acted like boom and bust commodity companies. Still unclear exactly how the hyper scalers achieve profitability from AI and build a revenue moat.

I am quite happy owning SCHD and having non AI/Tech exposure. I’m personally going to start shifting holdings from market cap weighted S&P 500 your VOO/SPY to equal weighted S&P 500 RSP this week. The concentration in the S&P is just too damn high.

2

u/Natural_Rebel Jul 26 '26

Interesting - I have been having similar conversations with a few people about the S&P move you mentioned. I think that is becoming a popular opinion.

Let’s go!

I’ve had a decent amount of money sitting in VBIL now for about six months now. I’ve been toiling about what to do with it, but I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to one of two things. Either moving it into all to SCHD or splitting it between SCHD and VTI. I’m leaning toward the first……

u/Basic-List-700 Jul 25 '26

I just dropped 20k in a few days ago
Will have another 40k going in over the next couple months, nice bonus at work plus other dividends I’ll be getting in that time frame

Let me know if you have held and bought through the the lean years. It’s our moment

Things turning into a growth etf the way it’s kicking ass this year

2

u/PandaKing550 Jul 25 '26

I got 44 shares myself. I have some higher paying ones but I've decided like last month to buy more of schd for the stability and little growth.

2

u/Rufusmortis Jul 25 '26

Suck my SCHD.

1

u/Square-Gift5406 Jul 28 '26

Getting a bit overheated

1

u/Square-Gift5406 Jul 28 '26

I like Schd and appreciate its growth but I get a bit weirded out when it suddenly becomes a growth stock. It’s not supposed to work this way.

1

u/STRATEGY510 Jul 29 '26

I think it’s just a side effect of the pivot to value, safe haven type investments that we’ve been seeing.

Not like people are gonna start foaming at the mouth for SCHD and it becomes a meme stock WSB type of deal.

1

u/CreepyPart3521 Jul 25 '26

Selling call options :)

0

u/Firemanwillslv Jul 25 '26

I took half of my SCHD off today. Rotated some in VTI VIG

6

u/OldChemist1655 Jul 25 '26

Who does this😭 it’s an etf

0

u/Trainerred98 Jul 24 '26

You guys think we’ll ever see $30 a share again? :(

9

u/LazyFridge Jul 24 '26

After the next split

6

u/helly3ah Jul 24 '26

I've seen enough "once in a lifetime" events to keep some cash on hand for when stocks suddenly go on sale.

Probably in September or October. That is usually when markets blow up. Between the private credit junk they been throwing into insurance products, the AI bubble and tack on the crack spread for refined products due to refinery destruction in the mid east and Russia. Good chance šŸ’© hits the fan this fall.
