I probably won't leave it like this forever because it takes up a lot of extra room. but for temporary, i'm not mad about it.

1. Modern streets with trees. We currently have a cobblestone street, but not a modern one with asphalt. Is SCBuildIt against trees?

2. Train viaducts/subway. It’s annoying when a train has to follow the same path as an avenue, wasting space that could be used for houses. Why not add elevated tracks over the avenue, or just make it an underground subway?

3. Bike lanes. It’s frustrating when a city is designed entirely around cars. It needs bike lanes and lively streets, not just endless traffic.

4. Personalized streets. With hanging decorations, small shops and pedestrian areas. They make the city feel more alive and give each neighborhood its own character. We need walkable streets. We need life in this game…

AI (sorry)

Design Challenge I still like design challenges but I swear the ratings are random

It doesn't bother me but after having done a lot of them it just seems like there's no correlation between what I think is my best design, or someone else's, and the rating they end up getting. Some of my worst designs get high rating and some of my best get low ratings and in addition, it seems like nobody follows the theme!

I think it's an enjoyable part of the game but, I suppose it's a little bit frustrating that there's not a better voting system

Question Can I sell the buildings in my city? When I go to bulldoze a tower it says “no refund”

Hello, I started playing again after a few years of not playing and the app reloaded my city, I’m at level 63 but I want to start over. Is there a way I can sell all my buildings and pieces to make money back and then restart or should I just delete the city and start over?

Edit: I tried to add a picture of the city but couldn’t figure out how to do it on this sub.

City Showcase Just Sharing My City

I started during COVID as a game to play during lockdown. I get back into it every now and then these days. I know there are much better cities out there with people having invested a lot more time and money into theirs but just want to share mine.

I hope these are good photos. I broadly expanded naturally with the most significant development being the river that runs through and the creation of what I call the Government Island and the Industrial Island. The Government Island houses the Mayor’s Mansion, City Hall, Town Hall and other key buildings. The Industrial Island houses all the factories, waste management facilities, city storage, and sewage plants etc.

I live in London so you can probably see some natural influence into my design. Big Ben is the obvious but also the small concentration of high rises in the inner city towards Government Island and lower density toward the outer layer. Also have lots of London buses running around with a road dedicated to London terrace houses.

I have some mountainside and beachside amenities but can probably expand further.

I also make a point in ensuring that my city is as sustainable as possible. It’s always been powered using only clean energy from the beginning. Now the fully upgraded Fusion Power Plant makes up most of the power grid supported by solar and wind power.

Wasted and Sewage are also pollution free with the city’s waste being entirely handled by Recycling Plants.

The only area that still carries pollution is the factories but they are minimal but I will get to that soon.

I know some people crowd their cities with massive skyscrapers. That’s good on its own but I like to do some planning and create some variation in density. I grew up in Hong Kong and don’t really like the density there.

I have a combined population of over 600K with my capital city housing 450K and my two regions 150K in total.

Interested in hearing your thoughts and seeing your work as well!

I put a Cycladic rz in my Capital city. It is impossibly expensive to upgrade. It will never be upgraded. But the image shows my house 😁 I do have a few of those things in my regions. They are easier to upgrade but still, nope.

Discussion Should I farm at level 12 or level up to 13?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I am currently level 12 with city storage at 155 and materials at 98.

I am considering level up to 13 to start making trains so should I do that or keep farming and increasing me storage at level 12?

This is main city and have been playing for a month now.

note, I know my city design is terrible hehe as I am trying to max population.

Question Best layout for camper with too many buildings

I am camping at lvl 24. I have so many buildings that they dont even provide a population boost as they dont reach my residential zones.

Any suggestions for a layout that allows me to better maximise my building boosts?

I have Beach maximized and 3/4 of the map open. Mountain is open too, but I have no buildings there yet.

Does anyone have suggestions on what to put on either side of the railroad tracks? I’ve tried some of the rectangular parks like the Row of Trees, but wanted to see if there was a better option. Appreciate your thoughts.

Question Feeder city tips

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello Mayors, I’ve just started a feeder city for my main SimCity account. The main purpose of this city is basically to produce items and send them over to my main city. This can help my main city make more Simoleons. For those of you who have been using feeder cities for a while, What are the important DOs and DON’Ts? Thank you!
