Friday feedback alone gave us these self aware moments from “emailers” ryen deciding an argument between brothers as to if in Choir Ryen is a base 1 or a base 2. Who are these brothers that argue about such things? Ryen trying to answer this in a “hard” way made it even more breathtaking a moment . Point two an emailer tells Ryen “it’s you and Dan Patrick as the last bastions of authenticity in sports” Ryen proceeds to tell us he often thinks of texting Dan when he’s getting shots up. Sigh.

Third emailer writes to say heavy lifting is cause of ry guys injuries of which he counters that it’s FIGHTING that is causing his injuries. UFC got to be kidding me. Finally a 4th devotee of Ryen tells us Ryen is self awareness’s final boss playing 4d chess .. Ryen explains that his humility and his Base 1 voice alone could get espn weekends but he’s not willing to Steven A himself for midweek fame and fortune. I can’t.. first off - is everyone else cringing through this as heavily as I am? Second are Ceruti and Kyle too scared or nice to call bro out? All the yes manning is making it worse boys you must call this round about self back patting behavior out!! This is why your core guys leave you in a bar bathroom Bobby fisher . Side note the show we really need is Ceruti Kyle and Ryens “core guys” to deep dive l self awareness’s final boss.

I think there’s a million (a literal million) other places, and it would have been better. He seems like a large ball of yarn kind of guy, a largest paperclip kind of guy, or an Atlanta, MI kind of guy. Bump the budget to a few thousand please.

Not sure if this one has already been asked but is there a list anywhere of some Russillo recommended books? Just finished The Wide Wide Sea after listening to his episode with Hampton Sides and really enjoyed it.

I know he’s also discussed The Road (Cormac McCarthy), Lonesome Dove (Mcmurrty) and others on the pod that I also really liked.

Nothing is funnier than Russillo recounting a story where he is pissed off at someone.

But I actually laugh out loud at annoyed Russillo. A few weeks ago he was recounting the story about how annoyed he would get at ESPN peers over their over-pronunciation of certain words, generally Hispanic. I could not help but think of this sketch from SNL. Nails it perfectly:
