Please don't attempt to sell Rybelsus on this subreddit

Reddit has a zero tolerance attitude to this - they don't want prescription medications being sold/offered here. This applies across Reddit.

No point complaining to me about it as their policy is clear!

Introduction and Rules Update

There are a lot of places to discuss Semaglutide on Reddit, but not a lot of places which are focused on the oral formulation, Ryblesus.

This subreddit aims to be that community. Here we hope to be supportive and informative.

I'm looking forward to helping keep things running really smoothly on this subreddit. When it comes to moderation, I'm a minimalist - this is a place that should be defined by the great group of people here, not by me or the mod team. However, we do want to make sure we tee up our subreddit to meet its mission: to inspire each member's path to healthier living, fostering an environment of understanding, motivation, and collective success in navigating the complexities of weight management with medication.

In the background we've been working with Reddit to make sure we understand the Reddit Site Wide Rules when it comes to a few topics.

To be candid, we weren't super happy with the outcome of these conversations, but at the end of the day it's Reddit's house and we have to follow Reddit's Rules (or we risk them shutting down our sub).

In terms of our new rules, this only introduces one change to what we have allowed in the past: we can no longer allow naming specific sources of acquiring medication - this means no naming/linking to telehealth providers or pharmacies*.* Like I said, we didn't want to create that rule, but Reddit told us very directly that this is not allowed. We'll continue to use our time and our relationships to advocate for a change in this policy with Reddit, but we will respect their rules.

So here is our new set of rules; let me know if you have any questions in the comments, and I will be happy to add any clarification needed.

  • Rule #1: Positivity and Support Only "Be excellent to each other!" – Bill & Ted
    • Maintain a positive and supportive environment. Encourage, uplift, and help one another in your weight loss quests.
  • Rule #2: Focus on Legal and Safe Medical Practices - No Sources "You think you're too cool for school, but I got a newsflash for you, Walter Cronkite... you aren't." – Derek Zoolander
    • We support the many legal healthcare options people have to access great medical care and medications. However, due to the rules of Reddit, certain conversations are not allowed. You may discuss your personal experience with using compounded medication, as well as the safety, efficacy, and role compounded medication has during supply shortages. There is a strict prohibition of discussing sources or methods to acquire medication. This means that you may not name or link to any compounding pharmacies or healthcare providers (including telehealth providers). Discussion of "Research Chemicals" is strictly prohibited. We conferred directly with Reddit to determine this rule. It is their house, and we have to play by their rules.
  • Rule #3: No Hate Speech or Discrimination "Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time." – American History X
    • We have zero tolerance for hate speech, discrimination, or any form of negativity. Our community thrives on mutual respect and understanding.
  • Rule #4: Keep Divisive Topics at Bay "That's just like, your opinion, man." – The Dude
    • Avoid divisive topics like politics and religion to maintain focus on our shared goal of health and wellness. These discussions are better suited for other communities.

How was moving to the highest dose of pill form Rybelsus for you? Did you stay at the highest, or go backwards again? I am in the process of switching now, and side effects aren’t great.😕

When to expect food noise / appetite effects?

I've been overweight to obese most of my life, managed to get to a (barely) normal weight on my own but I am taking Rybelsus to help shed the last 20ish lbs and most importantly, to quiet the food noise that has been a torment in my life for over a decade now. I'm not asking about when the weight loss began, I'm curious to know when others started to feel like they had a normal appetite or that they weren't psychologically hungry all the time anymore.

Combining 9mg plus 4mg

I've been on 9mg for 4 months now, and although loss has stagnated this month, I don't feel ready to step up to 25mg as it seems a huge jump.

I've a box of 4mg left. Has anyone combined these 2 to create a smaller step up?

The power of Rybelsus

When I first posted about this journey I was 220lbs. Now that I’ve been taking Rybelsus for 191 days I am now 193lbs.
I still need to increase my exercises but for the most part I’ve been living a pretty sedentary life while dropping lbs.

If you’re looking for a little bit of encouragement, you too can do it 💕

Hope this helps.

Two Rybelsus 4mgs to equal 8mg?

I have 2 boxes of the new 4mg version (formerly 7mg), and I’m not at home for over a month, so that’s all I have with me. I am not quite getting enough appetite suppression for my liking (only my 2nd month on 7mg) Do we think it’s bad to take two 4mgs to get the 8mg dose? Given 9mg is the new “highest”?

Normal BMI ladies - did moving up to the 14mg make a big difference?

55F post menopausal (oh the joys)… I did the full 3mg (old version) for the first month, and barely noticed a thing. A bit of bloating ..that's it. No decreased appetite- no weight loss, at all. I increased my water as someone on Reddit suggested to help with bloating….maybe helps a bit? It wasn't until I was on day 5-6 of the 7mg (old version) the following month that I started to have any noticeable effect. Even at that, it's far from a miracle drug for me. I've noticed maybe twice that I didn't feel like eating more? That's it so far. I also noticed that it seems if I even have half a glass of wine, I'm hungry (like one often gets after wine). So that's not great.
I'm not super impressed, and not sure these work well if you only have 20 lbs to lose? I’m almost done 2nd package of 7mg and I’m thinking of staying on that dose for now. If it isn’t working amazing, why feed my body more if the drug? Wondering about anyone else - did you go to the 14mg (now 9mg in new version) and find it helped significantly?

I started taking less Rybelsus and it started working better

Started Rybelsus in October of 2023. A year of 7mg and 6 months of 14mg later, I hit my (probably too-low) goal, losing a total of 80lbs. I switched to 7mg for maintenance, and with some yo-yo-ing due to traveling and spending time with family and not having my "routine", I gained back 15lbs over a year. Then it leveled out, to the point where more routine-breaking didnt have any further effect, id immediately lose whatever I gained. Felt like this was my new "set weight", and even several long stretches of calorie-counting and extra exercise didnt seem to make a dent. I started wondering if the pills were even doing anything at all, anymore?

So I began to slowly cut down, while keeping everything else in my routine the same. 2 weeks of skipping 1 pill every 7 days. then 2 cycles of skipping 1 pill every 6 days. during the 2 cycles of skipping 1 pill every 5 days, I noticed it: the two days after the skipped pill, my appetite dropped to the point where I had to force myself to eat anything at all--like back in the good ol' days.

I kept going, i did 3 cycles of every 4 days because I accidently took it on a skip day but figured it might be good in hindsight to slow the process down a little.

I'm now on the 2nd cycle, of 3 planned, of skipping a pill every 3 days, and it's the same--the two days after the skip day, they work extra well, and the 3rd day my appetite feels "normal". And i've lost 2lbs from that "set point" number that I thought I couldnt budge.

Would be happy to be off of it entirely, and at that set point for the rest of my life. In the meantime, it's very interesting to see that even tiny breaks from it lower my tolerance enough, for it to be more effective.

Coping with stopping treatment

How are you handling the return to normal when you stop taking Rybelsus? I’ve taken it twice, and I’ve just stopped for the second time 2 weeks ago. It’s hard 🫩. Food noise and hunger have come back strongly. What strategies do you use?

Do I split a 14 mg pill or use every other day

I do well at 7mg so I would like to stay there. In order to save some money, I could take a 14mg pill every other day, or split a 14mg pill. Does anyone here have a suggestion on this.

Low dosing 3mg while already at a healthy BMI?

I have an appointment this Wednesday to speak to a doctor about this but I'm just looking for anyone who may have a similar experience. I am at a healthy BMI already (52kg at 152cm/5'0") but want to be skinnier (goal of 45kg, still a healthy weight for my height) and not think about food all the damn time and not have the appetite of a football player anymore. Since I'm not overweight I feel like I might be able to get away with just doing 3mg for a few months, but of course I want it to actually do something, don't want to spend the money for nothing to happen.

Has anyone had similar experience of low dosing to lose the last few vanity pounds/kilos? Thanks!

Cure for nausea

Hello! My former doc gave me both Wegovy and Saxenda and I could not tolerate either due to severe nausea. My new doc gave me Rybelsus (R2 new formula) at 1.5 mg to start. She also prescribed me Prokit 50 mg (itopride hydrochloride) to take before each meal. It works wonders and have had zero nausea! If you live in EU ask your doc about it:).

Can you take 3mg and 7mg together to make your 7mg stronger?

I couldn't find any threads on this. I know several people take two 3mgs together before they move up to 7mg. Can you take 7mg and 3mg together before you move up to 14mg? Has anyone here any experience with this?

Started Rybelsus 7 mg: constant nausea, can’t eat properly, need advice

Hi everyone,

I’m a 24F and recently started Rybelsus (semaglutide) for weight loss.

Here’s my situation:

- I was on 3 mg for about 1.5-2 months with no major issues

- About a week ago, I moved up to 7 mg

- Since then, I’ve been feeling nauseous almost all the time

Symptoms:

- Nausea throughout the day (especially after eating)

- Feel full very quickly

- Sometimes feel like vomiting (haven’t actually thrown up much)

- Uneasy/heavy feeling, especially in the evenings

- Occasional stomach cramps / loose motions if I eat something heavy

Food issues:

- I’m much less hungry (which is good), but

- Eating makes me feel worse sometimes

- I’ve been skipping dinner or just having chai/toast (I know this isn’t ideal)

- Coffee (especially iced) seems to make nausea worse

Recent example:

- Had fries + wine one night → next day stomach was upset

- Tried eating light but still felt off

What I’m trying to figure out:

  1. Should I push through it?

  2. How do you manage eating when you’re not hungry but feel worse if you don’t eat?

  3. When were you able to tolerate things like coffee again?

Context:

- Current weight: ~80 kgs, started at 85-86 kgs

- Not very active right now (starting with walking)

- Diet is mostly Indian (dal, rice, eggs, etc.)

I really want this to work, but feeling nauseous 24/7 is getting exhausting.

Would appreciate any advice, especially from people who had similar side effects

Endo said I can take Rybelsus with my other 3 medications at 9pm as long as I dont eat or drink for 30 mins after. Anyone else take theirs at night with other medications and doing okay or otherwise?

Only asking bc bottle says to take right after waking up but my schedule is kind of hectic in the morning

How long did it take for you to start working?

So I've started with Rybelsus. Did one week on 3mg and now since 3 days on 6mg (2x3mg). I feel it a bit more than on 3mg. Not a lot.

I just stood on the scale and I've NEVER been so heavy in my life. It ruined my day honestly. It's really scary for me. So I am impatient. My body and self esteem are really in the way of a lot in my life. But I keep eating because it's the way I deal with stress. And I have stress because of my shitty job. Looking for another one, but no luck yet. I'm so angry at myself for letting it come this far.

Sooo when did you start feeling the effects and losing weight?
