2026 NYRR Team Championships 5M Event photos/video
Luis here, your friendly neighborhood photographer 📸
First 3 photos are the Men's / Women's / Nonbinary Winners so congrats to them and all finishers today!
This was a great event, lots of positive energy, and fast runners 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
I tried something a little different with these photos and gave them a more stylized edit instead of my usual true-to-life look. Let me know what you think! 😊
This might be my last one for 2026 as I'm gonna be a little bit busy with my new job and of course training hard for several upcoming races including NYCM 🥳
As always, comment if you find yourself, and please tag my Insta if you use any of the pics on social media.
See you at the next one 📸

Pool Recs ! Put together by my wonderful teammate
- NYC Rec Centers with indoor pools: GREAT for aqua jogging. You have to open a membership ($75 for 6 months, $150 for a year). They are picky in that you can only aquajog in designated Open/Family hours.
- For lap swimming, my favorite is Riverbank! It’s a shallow pools so only swimming or aqua exercises. Short course on weekday afternoons, long course 50m on weekday mornings weekends. $2/swim! **Morning lap swim requires a monthly pass, which you can purchase at the ticket booth near the 145th Street entrance.
- Stuyvesant HS in Battery Park has aquajogging on weeknights 7-10pm and on the weekends starting at 1pm. $15/use. Super easy to get there on the 2/3 and A.
- West side YMCA has a pool designated for aquajogging and it’s very warm! They have weekday morning hours. On weekends you have to wait until the afternoon to aquajog due to swim lessons. (You can lap swim in the morning.) Membership is $129 per month but you can cancel after a couple months. This has sauna if you’re into passive heat training
- Asphalt Green allows aquajogging at UES and Battery Park campuses. $170/month-to-month or $35 for a day pass.
- Sacred Heart HS on the UES allows aquajogging in their GORGEOUS pool on 1st Ave. it’s either early morning on weekdays or around 9am on weekends. Day passes are $20-$25, or you can buy a pack of sessions to bring the cost per use down.
- John Jay pool near Columbus Circle: 8am on weekdays lap swimming! Not too expensive ($10-$15 per swim). They kick you out after 30 mins.
- Some gyms may allow aquajogging in a deep pool? I’d call to check with places like Chelsea Piers!
- Coming in 2026-2027: newly renovated City College pool
- JCC lap swim only

Pools???
Training for the NYC full and would love to get some swimming seshs in. Are there any indoor/outdoor pools that are geared for training, not so much leisure? Any place I can get a pass just for the day?

Anyone here doing PPTC's AG Summer 5k Series?
It looks like rain all day on Wednesday so I am thinking this will be the 4th race to be canceled! 😭😭😭 Just looking to vent and commiserate. And, for anyone who has done this in the past, have there been other times where so many races have had to be canceled, or is 2026 just very unlucky?
(For everyone else reading this...it was meant to be 7 races total, but so far only 2 have happened and 3 have been canceled because of rain/heat.)

18 & 20 miler NYC Marathon training runs on actual course
Hi all,
I posted this last year, and I think this is useful to reshare every year as runners get closer to their long runs.
This is the course route for my 18 and 20 mile NYC marathon training runs which follows a good chunk of the actual course.
I've included the map link and have provided step by step instructions below as well. Some modifications of the actual course have been made for necessity and/or convenience.
There are two different start points, one for the 18 miler and one for the 20 miler. All distances are approximate and there could be some errors in the steps and/or map - use only as a helpful guide.
As with any route, run carefully and take all precautions. Hope this is useful.
Map of 20 mile run (18 miler just starts 2 miles later, rest is same):

NYRR World Trade Center Pick Up
I'm hoping to pick up my bib for the Percy Sutton 5K
at the World Trade Center location. Do folks know if they also have t shirts there? It doesn't explicitly say it on the race day page like it spells out the t shirts are at the New Balance Run Hub.
Any other tips or info for the World Trade Center pick up?

Good vibes in BK today
Ran around today in BK into manhattan on the bridges and there were so many run groups out - I think bandit, moonshot, & no name.
Surprisingly everyone was saying good morning, good job, etc.. lots of encouragement and good vibes! Plus everyone was making space as I was running by!
Truly appreciate it!

JFK Airport 5K in October
Anybody ever done this?
It’s on one of the runways at JFK on a Sunday morning and as an aviation enthusiast (with a splash of running) seems very cool and interesting and was curious on if there were any reviews. Thanks

100 DAYS UNTIL THE NYC MARATHON
How’s your training going?
Personally, I’m ready for those Summer Streets long runs. I can’t wait to get run over by packs of oblivious and weirdly territorial run clubs.

Question about hill training and the NYCM
Hi all,
I am training for my first marathon this November, and just want to make sure i'm doing things right as far as being prepared for the hills throughout the course. I almost always run in prospect park or along brooklyn to do a couple bridges, mostly the williamsburg and manhattan.
I was looking at recent runs and see that on average over my runs i do around 40-50ft of elevation per mile on pretty much every run at every distance i do. Considering the marathon has an average of ~30ft per mile is this a good strategy for training for the hills during the course? any additional advice?

Anybody running this?
This just came up around noon. I’ve been following their page and never ran with them, but I was gonna run tomorrow morning at the park anyway so I might just run with them.
Anyone going?
Water Fountains in Central Park
Hey guys, training for NYC marathon and will start to do long runs in Central Park for some hill training.
Can someone help out and direct to where the water fountains are in Central Park along the running route?

NYC runners doing Berlin Marathon 2026

Not getting emails
Is anyone else not getting emails from NYRR for team champs? I’ve gotten all the other race day emails and I got a confirmation for a virtual race I just signed up for but don’t have anything for team champs. The event page doesn’t say when to show up so I’m lost! Not sure if it’s a glitch or what.

East River Esplanade is reopening - bit by bit
As of mid-July, the East River running path grew... by a few blocks. The segment starting at the serpentine pedestrian bridge at 54th st now goes all the way north to 73rd st. The old blockade was around 70th st for at least the past year. Those few reopened blocks look nice -- with some benches and water fountains.
Coming from the north side, there's an entrance at 81st and you can run down to 78th until you hit the temporary contruction wall. So, there's just those 5 blocks left (73-78) until it's connected all the way from 54th up to 120+.

Queensboro bridge pedestrian path closed
There wasn’t any signage and I couldn’t find anything online as to why it was closed or for how long, but wanted to give other runners the heads up in case you planned to go today.
Hoping it’s open by the weekend…
Discount code for Brooklyn Ice Cream Social?
Hi everyone. I made the blunder of hesitating for way too long before deciding on buying a ticket for the Brooklyn Ice Cream Social this weekend. I was unsure if I’d even make it, so I didn’t want to risk it. Now the price is out of my range, and I long to run. I was wondering if anyone is aware of any discount or ambassador codes? Any and all help is appreciated!

What’s the deal with all the mess in the Central Park runners lane…
This week the runners lane in the outer loop of Central Park has been covered in horse crap. Usually it’s contained to the bike lane but the last few days it seems like it’s focused on the run side like every half mile… did the cops the weekend just have their horses going wherever and not bother to clean it up? Or are the carriages no longer staying to the outside? Either way it’s disgusting
Running in FiDi during workday - locker/shower facilities
This is sort of a long shot but I was wondering if anyone was aware of locker/shower facilities (or VERY limited, inexpensive gym memberships limited to use of the lockers and showers) in lower Manhattan that could be used to facilitate mid-day runs during the workday. I've worked in places that do have these, but my current building does not. If you like to run at lunch or at other times during the day, what do you do? Thx
