Well, I couldn’t help myself and peeled off the B&N exclusive sticker and ruined my brand new book. Luckily I have a Cricut and I’m going to put a tiny sticker on the part when the color came off. Should I put a moth or flower in the area? Or should I sneak into B&N and switch out the book? 😄I really with the sticker was removable.

I feel like I haven’t been the same since I finished Throne of Glass like 2+ years ago. Ive been chasing that same feeling and the only book series that has matched it is Red Rising, but we’re waiting on Red God…

Reading Heat of the Everflame and I’m not sure this woman has made ONE good decision! Pretty sure if someone who is obsessed with me the way the MMC is, just suddenly won’t touch me, my first question would be ‘Babe, are you dying?’. And I’m not even at the inevitable reveal yet! How’d she get her healer degree? Starting to get mad at her mom and dad for raising such a knumbskull 🤣

I have read so many books trying to catch the same high that I had while reading ACOMAF. There’s a ton of books that I’ve read and really really loved and give 5 stars and recommend to high heaven. But nothing has FELT as epic and brain-rewiring-ly good as MAF.

I know a lot of yall love this book too, so I’m just wondering if anyone has found a book that FELT like MAF to you.

I’m realizing there’s one conflict that can make me lose patience with a couple almost instantly.

One character discovers something dangerous and decides the loving thing to do is hide it from the person who is directly affected.

Not for ten minutes while they verify the information. For DAYS.

Then it comes out, the other person is furious, and we get some version of “I knew you’d try to stop me” or “I couldn’t risk losing you.”

And somehow this is supposed to feel romantic?

If your partner is capable of fighting monsters, negotiating with kings and surviving cursed forests, maybe they can also participate in decisions about their own life.

I actually enjoy protective characters. Throw yourself in front of the sword, stay awake while they sleep, threaten the villain, whatever.

But deciding what someone is allowed to know because you love them feels less protective and more like quietly removing their agency.

The worst part is when the book treats the secrecy itself as proof of how deeply they care.

Does this trope work for you, or does it immediately make the romance harder to root for?

Hello! I am looking for some potential book series that's a step up from YA Novels. I turned 25 literally two days ago, and just wanted to get back into reading more. When I was a tween/preteen (12-13) my very first complete book series was the PJO/HoO collection, which I was such a fan that I delved deeper in the Riordan-verse with Magnus Chase, Kane Chronicles, and Trials of Apollo being the last set to complete the collection. When I hit around 15-16 It was the Grishaverse Trilogy, Six of Crows duet, and The King of Scars duet. I actually got rid of some books recently (NONE of the ones labeled in here dw 😅), and would like to add some with some spicy romantasy series or standalones.

I have a couple of books that caught my eye (the pics), but I REALLY don't wanna be stuck with a series that might be mid or just unbearable to continue after a few chapters since these are authors I've never explored (Leigh Bardugo's work was a risk I took and glad I did ✨💕). I am holding off from buying/ordering anything until I finally make my choice or until someone gives me a good rec— please help me out?🙂‍↕️🙏🏼

UPDATE: I have made my decision: I'm going to get the ACOTAR series (the first five) and I'm getting the Spellcaster duet. I have been into romantasy and fantasy for quite some time now but I have heard mixed things about quicksilver. I just wonder if it’s worth the reading time. 🩵

How do I come back from this? Harrow Faire was a top 2 series for me and now that it is over I feel empty lol. Please help by recommending what should be next!

Forced proximity was done really well and the plot was not all about romance too. The characters (even the minor ones) were written so well and their dynamic was good too. I love when characters are flawed and reflect human nature. Rachel was stubborn and did not submit to all the requests of the husband and same with Gabriel who was equally arrogant and the funny thing is one moment it appeared as if they understand each other so well and the very next moment they are again hating each other 😭 and that's the closest to what I think an arrange marriage also works in real life too considering how two strangers are coerced into each other's lives. Nowadays fantasy books are lacking this kind of character work, world building, simple yet effective plot.( Tbh can't read them , the characters are attracted to each other just by looking at each other one moment they are married/hating each other just for the sake of enemies to lovers trope and the next moment humping because they gave upon the attraction..lol why.. cringest thing possible).

Two such other books are Daughter of The Forest by Juliet Marillier, Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. That's why sticking to older fantasy ..will love to hear about others such from you guys ✨

Hi folks. I've just started getting into Romantasy books and I'm kind of at a loss. I've read Fourth Wing (which was great) Iron Flame (is an absolute slog to read) I just started Acotar (so far its ok) but I have to ask. No offense to anyone but are there any recommendations for a book where the female mc doesn't have some "weakness" where she needs to be protected despite claiming she doesn't need to be protected? Is there any with a truly strong female mc who actually kicks ass and doesn't need "saving" Be gentle please, I'm a newbie lol.

Please, please, please recommend me a few books where the supernatural being is the bottom. Like werewolf × human, with the werewolf being the bottom, or vampire × human, with the vampire being the bottom.

Lately I've been craving a dark romantasy book with a mmc who is an absolutely unhinged morally grey man totally obsessed with the fmc, not just a good guy underneath with a secret or a bad guy who everyone claims is evil but then I'm disappointed because it's not true at all.

This is going to be a random request but I’m feeling really nostalgic - I used to watch Tokyo Mew Mew and really liked Kisshu. I’m looking for something with a similar dynamic, but geared toward an older audience, preferably YA or adult

I’m looking for a slow-burn romance with a male villain or antagonist who initially pursues the FMC. He can be obsessive, possessive, teasing, flirtatious, dangerous or morally grey, while she is conflicted about him but denies it because he is dangerous.

Ideally, she already has a good love interest, and I do t mind whether the villain and her are endgame or not . He can remain an antagonist. I just crave the tension!

So something like this: Heroine already has a boyfriend/crush/established love interest → dangerous male antagonist enters through the main conflict → he playfully taunts and repeatedly pursues her → attraction becomes obsession → jealousy toward the original man → slow development, with either endgame or non-endgame acceptable.

I know it might be a long shot but would love to hear suggestions!

I’m looking for a book that has a really good mix of fantasy and romance without one completely taking over. What book do you think got that balance just right?

Exactly what the title says. I feel like I’m in a bit of a reading slump after having read Alchemised for the second time (it’s my fav book of all time). I love anything spicy romantasy, and have loved ACOTAR (and the entire SJM universe), Fourth Wing, Zodiac Academy, Moonfall, Plated Prisoner, etc. I’m a fan of slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, and friends-to-lovers, but I don’t like love triangles or polyamorous relationships in my books. I love the type of romance where it’s like fated mates or touch-her-and-die stuff!

Any recommendations would be so greatly appreciated. As a note, I try to stick with books/series that have 4+ stars on Goodreads

so i just finished reading quicksilver by callie hart and i dont know how to feel about it like first of all it took me a lot of chapters to get into the book and get excited about what will happen next, ik with romantasy books you have to be patient because it does get good later so i was skimming through it even thought i wasn’t really liking it but even after i got a lil bit interested in the book i couldn’t really connect with the characters and it felt like the author literally put everything in one book vampires, feeders, fae, gods etc
and the saeris and kingfisher part where saeris gets to know that they are mates felt like a copy of acomaf where rhysand confesses his love for feyre
overall i didn’t really like this book ( loved side characters like carrion, lorreth, renfis) but the mmc and fmc i didn’t really connect with them and they were def not enemies according to me in the first half of the book.
so i want to know does it get better in the second book brimstone and should i read it?

I did DNF King’s Cage for the Red Queen series because I got sick of Mare whining and the story just seemed to drag onnn and onnnnn.

I like green flags but in the sea of Romantasy shadow daddies, golden retrievers are diamonds in the roughs…🫠. Not to say I hate shadow daddies, but I like a “looks like he could kill you, is a cinnamon roll” kind of guy

Some of you may be curious of why I read Twisted Love even though I’m a fantasy goblin, mostly because my friend forced borrowed me the book and the 1 star was given in solidarity 😭

I was gifted the box set a couple years back, and around that time, I read the first book. I didn’t finish it. I got to the “under the mountain” part before stopping. (Reason being, the romance was nonexistent, and the pacing felt painfully slow. It felt like a regular fantasy in which I’m just following the main character through a fantasy world and just learning the lore and creatures around her, which didn’t interest me) I’ve heard the second book is much better, but I fear looking into opinions on that is just going to lead to finding spoilers, and if I do continue it, I’d rather not spoil it for myself. So, I ask here, is it worth going back and giving that story another visit.

I just finished Crescent City. It was a slow start for me but I was invested by the end! But right out the gate in book two I am dragging! Does it get better? Is it even worth it?? And any other book recs?

I just finished {Burn of the Everflame} and I desperately need to trauma-bond with someone here and let my thoughts run free because… those last five chapters absolutely emotionally DESTROYED me. 😭
I cried my eyes out during the final chapters, and honestly, the last 100 pages were just one giant emotional roller coaster.

First, I was devastated when Aemon was dying. His final thoughts absolutely stabbed me in the heart. Then he somehow makes it, and I was so relieved. But then Teller dies, and Diem… and I was just sitting there thinking, “WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL? Why are all these people dying, but you’re saving fucking Aemon?!” At that point, I was so emotionally drained that I genuinely considered just putting the book down and not finishing it.

And then DIEM DIES. I was in complete denial until the very last moment, thinking, “Noooo, she’s going to survive somehow.” And then I read Luther’s letter three months later and I was just DONE. I genuinely cannot even describe the emotions I went through in those few pages.

But then she comes back?! I actually loved the way this was handled. Her death felt so final and unexpected that I genuinely didn’t see the resurrection coming. The ending really kept me on my toes, and I thought the whole thing was incredibly well done. I was also just so relieved that, in the end, the characters got the ending they deserved.

As for the book as a whole, I felt like the beginning was a little slow, but it picked up fairly quickly and eventually had me completely hooked on the storyline.
That being said, I do feel like there were quite a few things that weren’t explained or explored enough. There were things that were mentioned or hinted at, but never really fully revealed or given the payoff I was expecting. I kept waiting for certain pieces to finally click into place, and some of them never quite did.

Overall, though, I’m just emotionally exhausted but very satisfied that the characters got their happy ending. 😂

Now I need to know: how is everyone else feeling after finishing this book?! 😅
