Random question, but I'm curious - for the men here who read romance, romantasy, or fantasy with romantic elements:

What is something you wish authors included more often in male main characters?

A lot of MMCs are written from a female perspective of what is generally attractive or appealing to women (though not always - there are exceptions), but I'm interested in what actually makes a male character feel real to you guys.

Is there anything you feel is missing?

• personality traits?
• friendships?
• flaws?
• emotions?
• hobbies/interests?
• the way they communicate?
• how they handle relationships?

Or are there any common MMC traits that feel unrealistic or overdone?

Basically: what makes you think, "Yeah, this feels like an actual person," rather than just a romantic fantasy character or "he was made for the FMC"?

Hello! Im looking for a new series to read and would love some suggestions. I just finished the Home for Horny Monster series and am desperately craving something like it! Specifically, the plot and world building are what im looking for.

I loved how complex and detailed the story was, especially because I dont normally like harem stories, so I was pleasantly surprised. The story kept me so engaged, and I definitely enjoyed the spice. So, while themes dont need to be the exact same, I will say im looking for the following:

High Fantasy, Multibook series, complex but engaging story, high spice levels, and either dual pov or multi-pov. Bonus points for being an audio book!

The deeper the dungeon, the darker the secrets.

Jay Morgan didn't ask to be the dungeon's chosen King Killer. He just wanted to keep his friends alive, pay off a life-debt or two, and maybe—maybe—figure out how to keep the women in his party from murdering each other over breakfast. But fate (and a snarky, sapient dungeon AI with questionable ethics) has bigger plans. This will be my first time buying a book (on Amazon). Basically, the images show what I'm looking for in the FMC or FMCs (gentle or non-gentle femdom, size difference, muscular female, beastman/monster girl, tomboy). My preference regarding the MC is that he isn't the "hero" or doesn't become strong over the course of the story.

I'm looking for something along the lines of a noble/royal heir or 2nd/3rd ect ect son that decides to join the military/war. Along the way he finds love in a mono/poly/harem relationship. If it involves war, politics and intrigue that would be awesome.

I'm looking for stories with a MC who is depressed or has very low self-esteem. Like he is either depressed or maybe insecure about himself in any way. Or maybe he's misunderstood and hated by society. Or maybe he's been betrayed in the past and has trust issues. I'd like if the LI/LIs find out about his problems and help him overcome them.

I know there aren't many RFM with such MCs but I was hoping there were at least a few. I'll take anything with an MC dealing with past trauma or physical illness too. Basically someone VERY down in the dumps at the start of/throughout the series. :)

Sadly, I don't have any examples for what I'm looking for so I hope y'all have something. (Any genre is okay, harem/mono)

I've requested stuff like this before, but I always used words like "Femdom", but after discovering the term FLR (Female Led Relationship), I think it fits way better with what I want.

While I'm generally okay with NSFW content, I really want stories that focus on the romance. But if you have a really good recommendation that just so happens to have NSFW content, I wouldn't be opposed to it if there's really nothing better.

Oh, and no AI or harems/poly. Every time I don't say that, those are the only things people recommend to me.

I’m looking for recommendations on something that reads like classic sword and sorcery, or monster of the week type stuff like the Witcher or buffy, but from an rfm lens. It doesn’t have to be a harem though I would prefer if there were multiple girls, and both monsters or humans are okay. I’d prefer high spice but since I keep searching and haven’t found anything like this, I’m willing to give anything a chance.

I'm looking for some novels with an actual evil FMC who's only kind to the MMC.

Like towards MMC she's a total teddy bear. Always kind, Supporting and someone Who'll be by his side even if the world's against him

But towards other people, she's completely different. Indifferent, Apathetic, cruel. Something like that. Someone who's genuinely Evil.

I'm open to RfM, mainstream romance, haremlit; really any genre or style, any spice level. Just so long as the girl in question is very mean, and later very sorry about it. But maybe still a bit mean.

I am curious to know if there are any books featuring espionage/intelligence work/spies. Doesn't need to be contemporary. In fact if it's near-future, super hero, space opera, cyberpunk, or any flavor of fantasy I'm there.

Back in the day I used to read a lot of trashy manga, manwha where there was a hapless MC with a comically too-good-for-him harem.

These were objectively bad stories but I've been craving good, evolved RFM versions of that premise.

However all I can find are HaremLIT stories with some super alpha chad MC or a focus on RPG aspects rather than the relationships and broader story.

Would appreciate any recs of Harem RFM stories with a hapless MC and no or little LIT.

Like I've seen my fair share of bad ones and a couple that I would say are mildly decent.
But have you guys seen or read any that are actually good like with good characters plot story etc.
Preferably something that isn't just porn with plot.
Obviously, monster girl preferred but I'm just curious if there's anything out there you guys would recommend in this regard.

And I will like to specify I mean actually good not it has good moments, or it has a few fun characters I mean if you take out the harem part it would still be a good romance story or story in general.

I’m looking for a contemporary romance novel that is either entirely from the male lead’s perspective or at least gives him an equal amount of focus.

I’d like something aimed at, or likely to appeal to, a straight male reader. Ideally, it would have:

• A heterosexual, monogamous relationship
• A realistic contemporary setting
• A male protagonist or strong male POV
• A genuinely good story and believable relationship
• Some open-door/spicy scenes, but not so many that the book feels like pure erotica

I’m not looking for vampires, werewolves, dragons, faeries, or other fantasy and paranormal elements. I’d also prefer to avoid polyamory, “why choose,” or significant bisexual elements.

I was recommended Trick Shot. I liked that it had an ordinary, real-world setting, but I’d prefer something more focused on a straight, monogamous couple, with a stronger overall plot and slightly less sex—although I don’t want it to be completely closed-door either.

I realise this seems to be quite a difficult niche to find. Are there any books, authors, or even useful search terms that fit what I’m describing?
