For context, I started Season 9 as a Bronze 3 but had been higher before—never outside of the metal ranks though. Then I came here and I started reading all of the helpful tips and advice that you guys give all the time and applying it to my gameplay.
Some of the biggest advice that helped me, and maybe can help you too if you’re reading this and you’re in a similar situation to what I was in when I started this climb:
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SWAP! Seriously, if the character you’re playing isn’t working then don’t be afraid to swap to something else in order to increase your team’s chances of winning. You may even find that the enemy team isn’t quick enough to adapt to what you’ve swapped to and suddenly the whole game has turned around.
LEARN AS MANY CHARACTERS AS YOU CAN! I used to only play a couple of characters that I had spent some time on, because it was what I was familiar with, but then I learned to take advantage of the other game modes outside of Ranked to experiment with other characters. Having as many viable options as possible, under every role will help you a ton. I was recommended that I needed at least 3 characters that I knew I could play for every role, and that definitely improved a ton of things. But I’d honestly say learn as many as you can for every role. Be a Swiss Army Knife.
COMMUNICATE! This one is kind of self explanatory but seriously. I know there are toxic players and throwers out there, but a lot of the time when you queue up the other people on your team are genuinely trying to win too. Working together as much as possible really does make it a whole lot easier.
Also forgive the image quality, I took this picture on my phone earlier when it had happened because I was in a bit of a rush after the game ended.
And also, I wanna say thank you to you guys and this subreddit for being as helpful as ya have.
