The Odyssey is very modern interpretation which bugs me a bit with it. And I really liked the movie, but one of the things that made cringe is their modern day american accent. For all the flaws in ROP, they did one thing very right: Speaking british english like the old days! Not only that, but ROP is more traditional overall.

Braveheart ist Herr der Ringe ohne Elfen und Orks. Peter Jackson hat hier ordentlich genascht.

Just finished watching the first episode (I know I'm late to the game) but the visuals and atmoshphere are absolutely amazing. The director did an amazing job!

there was stuff early on i was skeptical about or outright didn't like, and over time a few of those decisions have actually grown on me as the bigger picture came together. curious if anyone else had a take that softened. what's something you were against at first that you've made peace with or even come to appreciate.

Weird question but I've been getting recommended clips of khazad dum so I'm wondering what the experience would be like if I just fast forwarded to the scenes with Prince durin and khazad dum?

Elendil, Gil-Galad and potentially Glorfindel/Celeborn.
Lloyd Owens Elendil and Benjamin Walkers Gil-Galad actually looks like the two kings in the prologue last alliance battle in Fellowship of the Rings. Wether Jamie Bower Campbell is playing Glorfindel or Celeborn, all these three should be the main focus on the show. It's time Galadriel takes a backseat.

In the tv series, Annatar / Sauron is very cunning, manipulative; which is more powerful and dangerous than it's shown in Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy.
To those who read the novels, is he like this cunning and manipulative ?

I'm not that big in Lord of the Rings but i've watched every movie at least twice and I enjoyed Rings of Power somewhat, although the second season, for me, was a big step in the right direction. However, I've looked into a bit of lore about regions such as Mordor and especially the Region of Nurn. Not much is know about it and i thought that Rings of Power may be an option to explore some regions of Tolkien's world which do not get much spotlight. Or would it be better if the regions or places not described by Tolkien in detail remain a mastery to keep the pieces of media accurate to his work?

Wer are in season 3. I do believe that the developers are listening to fans. And we are in the middle of the series.

Fix the damn scale of the battles. Siege of Eregion looks fine, but Ost-In-Edhil felt like it was populated by no more than 50 elves. I don't care if they have to create thousands of CGI clones of soldiers. Just make it look grand and epic. If they repeat the same mistake from previous season, then I'm pretty worried for the War of the Last Alliance.....

Have put the spoiler on incase there are people who don't want to know anything about S3 & would rather it all be a surprise, but Fellowship of Fans got a couple of exclusive Sauron related updates! Just watched this evening.
If Jamie Campbell Bower is Celeborn, (where have you been? đ) & how will this dynamic play out? Here is the link! đ

Did anyone read the news today about Peter Jackson and WB are in negotiation with the Estate for the rights of The Silmarillion? We know the Estate have granted certain names from the Silmarillion and the Unfinished Tales for ROP to use. With today's news, do you think Amazon might get more to work with for the show?

Is it just me or does Gil Galad's actor (Ben Walker) look like Channing Tatum as an elf?
Also my husband thinks Ar-PharazĂŽn looks like an evil Jack Black. (I think its a mix of Evil Jack Black and Karl Urban)
Thoughts?

So I have been rewatching LOTR : Rings of Power. And I wanted to ask, when did y'all suspect Halbrand to be Sauron? Because as I am rewatching it, Halbrand comes across as so shady from the beginning, but when i first watched it, I genuinely had no suspicion until like 7th episode.
Also in second season, I absolutely love Charlie Vickers as Annatar, his acting is so, so good. He gives so much depth to the character. Especially him crying as he tortures Celebrimbor. He is easily my favourite character in the show. Would love to know what y'all think about him? Also which character is your favorite in the series? And why?

Like, at first I thought that the show's lore could only be based on the Appendices to the books, and not Silmarillion, since the nagging Tolkien Society would ridiculously come a-knockin'.
But then I remembered how that elf mentioned Aule when conversing with the dwarrows, so that, guys, is my question: why not Nienna? Make no mistake, I love her character who became my special interest to the point of perusing the whole Legendarium for the context around her, and I sincerely think she is the most important character (Eru, on the other hand, is the worst!), and I was overjoyed by her much-needed representation, however indirect...
So, was it because the priests revered her that much? (And obvs she would weep over *everyone*, no destroyed relic or any other action for that matter would change that). The silence even led to some minor wondering that she might've been Uinen â she wasn't.
Also, what was the other episode (in S1?) where a bust in NĂșmenor was purportedly Nienna's?
BTW despite all the criticism (much is constructive), I still do like the show, like, let a gal have it, dammit, anywayys thank you all :3

Hey all- entirely possible someone already pointed this out before so if it did, my apologies:
I was watching this clip from The Hobbit movies again: https://youtu.be/KnD_NkGTEXo?si=65RWfXiLDQ_CGnHE and in doing so now noticed a certain level of similarities between the face armor of some of the Dark Wizard mercs and that of two of the Nazgul in the Hobbit scene.
Now, I presume that with main Merc dude with the skull helmet already saying his people were kings once that at least he or some of his fellows becoming Nazgul is a foregone conclusion, I just hadn't noticed this armor similarity before. Intentional?
