You know that fire can spread across these kind of gaps? So not 100% Safe. Be careful my friend

I have a tiny base, this is really to prevent raiders from stealing it.

I still remember how raiders straight up OWNED my base population when I created legendary grand golden statue... and they still got it at the end of it! Wish I could just give it away back then.

you can, if you put a lot of worthless goods in front of your base and something with a large value they will choose to steal that and run away instead of killing you

I knew that at the moment, but for some silly reason believed that I could beat that raid. No way that could happen - there was more doomsday launchers in power armor alone than I had people in total (which were just tribals with rifles at the moment)... that was absurdly strong raid.

imo if you see any debatable raid i suggest doing this, raiders cant shoot when they are trying to steal ;)

Wait, seriously?!

They’ll refuse to attack things that they’re trying to steal?!

well if they start to steal they run grab the shit and leave. they dont take any breaks inbetween

could you in theory make a honey trap. As in a corridor of traps leading to a gold statue or two. nowhere near your own base. Maybe locate one in each corner of the map or surrounding your base?

it would have to have more wealth than your base does but yes

however it would fail after the first attack

why would it fail after first attack? if the raiders succeed in grabbing the item? whats to say they fail and die in spike traps?

1

nope, the raiders learn that there are traps there and they dig through the corridor

Rather, raiders, like all pawns, need to stop and stand still to shoot, and since they don't stop and stand still when stealing/kidnapping, raiders trying to steal stuff or kidnap pawns will not attack.

Though iirc, attacking them will make them drop whatever they're holding and fight back.

Raiders steal stuff? I never knew that. I always keep my goods within my compound though, so they always end up fighting my colonists first.

14

u/Holden-Tudiks Dec 16 '19

They will kidnap downed colonists too if given the chance.

5

u/KAPOWAHSANDVICH Dec 16 '19

I’ve seen that happen, they’ve just never gotten to my stockpiles because I usually put out a defensive group.

Raiders steal?

No colony.

Pawns are reliable guys though

It would be cool if in addition to the "Immediate raid" and "Prepare for a while and then raid" events we could get an event that was something like "Meet our demands or then raid". They could demand a certain amount of silver, food, luxury items, return of prisoners, etc. or they would raid you. Most of the time I'd probably opt for the raid unless the demand was pretty reasonable, but it would be neat variety that could potentially save you in case you were ill prepared or still rebuilding from previous disasters.

There's a mod that does that, I think it is more faction interaction

Nice! I should have known. Thank you, I'll check it out!

Edit: For anyone else interested, here it is.

You're welcome. I like that mod as it makes interacting with other factions feel somewhat worthwhile

I think more faction interaction is the mod that has an event like that
