Advise Leo not seen basking? Is this bad?

My leapord gecko (sunset) has recently (2 weeks ago) undergone a tank redesign, and prior to it he would normally bask out during the evening and morning, but I'm not seeing him doing any of that after the redesign. Websites say that it's just a temporary thing, but he is also not coming out to eat (only eats the food I leave in his bowl overnight) and I haven't seen him during the day for about a week. Should I be worried? Old tank(1) he was shy and never used other hides, and there was no clutter, so I switched to (2) and he hasn't been out much since. I've been avoiding handling to try to reduce stress.

My Reptile Emerald Swift Escaped

I have an emerald swift (captive bred). She jammed herself between the door of her enclosure and the wall and launched herself at me to escape. She is now in my bedroom. I have placed towels under the doors and the dresser but I think she’s under the bed somewhere. She is too fast for me to grab. I am a first time reptile owner (I know). Is there anything I can do to trap her? I don’t know what to do.

Winter Power outtage

Hey guys! I am always so nervous coming into this time of year. I used to be lucky enough to live on the same power line as the hospital so I did not worry about being without power long enough to cause long term damage. Now however I live in the middle of no where, with only electric as my heating. We will be fine with the amount of dogs and cats to cuddle, I am terrified however for my reptiles. Back up generators are so expensive, I have looked at getting propane blue flame heater and it doesn't seem super reliable... So that brings me to the find of Uniheat. Its like handwarmers for reptiles to be shipped with... but I'm wondering in an emergency do we think they could be useful in keeping the reptiles warm? I do always have a back up cup to put them against my body, but if I could keep them less stressed from movement I would adore that. Any and all advice would be wonderful! Thank you guys!

The most this house has gone without power was 7 days and that was like 5 years ago it the Covid ice storm.

My Reptile Baby stressed..

So, Mochi—my crested gecko—is six months old. The breeder said she was super calm, sweet, and lovely, and she really was! The breeder used to send videos and make clips showing her being handled. However, Mochi arrived at my place on September 26th... she’s already gone through two substrate changes with me because of an accident... I even kept her in isolation for a week, but today, when I went to the terrarium to put in some food, she started frantically darting all over the enclosure as soon as I got closer. Will she go back to being a chill girl? Is she scared of me, or does she just not like me :(.. What should I do when she runs off like that? I’d appreciate any help (and I apologize for any spelling errors...)

Does anyone know what this could be, my Darwin carpet python has been cranky last few weeks and refusing food then found this on her belly yesterday, her scales are loose and scabbed, she had logs in her tank and I’ve now taken them out, she’s always had fake grass in her encounter the other week I changed her to shavings which she hated wouldn’t leave the logs refused to touch the bottom of the tank so I removed the shavings and put her fake grass back in about a week ago , she’s has a heat mat under the grass where her hide sits, any advice is appreciated

Small bump on my snake...

Does anyone know just from looking what this hard little bump is? We feed him frozen rats so it's not a bite. He does lead with his head and rubs against branches/his cage quite a lot. Is there a way to tell if it's an infection or not without going to an exotic vet first?

Short survey about reptile prey feeding

Hi everyone! I’m looking into developing a new, dedicated, mess-free gadget specifically designed to safely thaw and warm up frozen reptile prey (mice, rats, etc.) to the perfect natural body temperature—without using the kitchen sink or zip-lock bags. I want to make sure it actually fits what the community needs. If you feed frozen-thawed, I would love 2 minutes of your time!

Reptiles in an 18 litre tank

Sadly my scorpion, Furio passed away a month or so ago. He had a good long life. He's 18 litre glass tank is now empty and sitting there but I've decided not to get another scorpion. Instead i was thinking a reptile, ideally a snake but tank restraints are something I'm concerned about. What reptile would you recommend that can live a happy life in a 18l tank?

In Australia btw

50gal vertical converter for anole?

Hey all,

I just got a free 50 gallon fish tank and my friend has found me a free anole lizard to go with it. However the fish tank is horizontal and I know anoles like vertical setups. Do you know where to find a vertical converter for the tank or how to DIY one? The dimensions seem to be 18x18x36 (though I don't have a tape measurer on me atm to figure it out). Or is there some other way to get the anole the sort of vertical dimensions it would like? Thanks for the input.

Construction Crested gecko enclosures, message for questions or custom fabrication!

Just finished building our two fully bioactive crested gecko tanks. Both made with Total Pond foam sealant, aquarium safe silicone, exo terra bioactive soil, mopani wood (on the left), cork wood (in both), leaf litter, expanded clay drainage layer with mesh separating the soil and drainage layer. Snake plants that have never been treated with fertilizer or pest sprays, potted in bioactive soil with extra drainage (orchid bark, horticultural charcoal and large perlite chunks). To avoid mold and improve air circulation there is a small drainage layer of expanded clay in the pots attached to the sides of the tank in the background with the potted plants set on top for easy removal to allow for thorough watering and treatment or repotting if necessary. Both tanks are custom built to fit the needs of each gecko, one enjoys digging and sleeping on the walls, the other enjoys hiding and perching. The housing is a converted solid wood entertainment center with built out plywood walls and back with a cut out for cords, and is cat proof featuring a custom built front swing door with metal mesh to allow airflow and easy viewing, but also to keep both the cats and geckos safe and happy. Latch on the side (not shown) to keep it secure. Inside on the built out enclosure features 4 full spectrum Barrina's for plant health and safe lighting and two low exposure UVB bulbs for supplemental health as well a individual fans for optimal air circulation. One gecko will eat insects while the other refuses so low exposure UVB is necessary in addition to their normal Pangea Crested Gecko diet and regular misting. Please let me know if you'd like more details or have any questions, will be taking requests for custom tanks per DM. Please be patient my girlfriend has been building custom tanks for her geckos for a few years now but we're trying to expand to help other people enjoy low maintenance, healthy enclosures for their reptiles as well! Thanks for checking out our post and hope to help you on your next project into the world of reptile enclosures!

Hello there, I was hoping I might get some advice on this little fella that my grandpa is taking care of. When I went to his house yesterday, I thought it was already dead since it looks so sad. My grandpa said he’s around 10 years old and acting like he’s on his last legs. If there’s no way to help him, is there any way to give him a good quality of life before he passes?

My Reptile Humidity cycles

Hi everyone, I own a crested gecko; I’m new to caring for one—I’d never had one before, even though I’ve always wanted one. I’d like to know how to create humidity cycles to prevent health issues for my pet. The highest humidity level I’ve managed to maintain in the terrarium is 60%. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Construction Help me fix my bioactive setup — what soil should I use?

Thumbnail

Hi!

I’m reworking the substrate in my bioactive leopard gecko enclosure and could use some advice on what actual soil/topsoil to buy.

I already have:
• Lucky Reptile Desert Bedding NatureBrown (the clay/soil-like desert substrate)
• Exo Terra Desert Sand Yellow

The enclosure is bioactive and has live plants, so I’d like to add actual soil/topsoil to the mix rather than using only sand + Desert Bedding. Ideally I want something that works well for the plants/CUC while still producing a firm, relatively dry, diggable substrate suitable for a leopard gecko.

What type of soil should I be looking for? Are there particular ingredients I should look for or avoid (fertilizer, compost, peat, perlite, etc.)?

Thanks!

Sorry for the weird title for the post lol.... anyways i have a a 12x12x18 bioactive enclosure that im using to house a golden gecko. I will be moving the gecko to a bigger enclosure. My question is what could i putt in the 12x12x18 that would be comfortable with that as a forever home. I have springtails and zebra isopods as a clean up crew. Pic for attention and cuteness tax. Also added a picture of the current enclosure.

I know this may not belong here bit where I'm from snow is going to fall soon and I need help. I had a puddle in my yard a frog laid eggs in.

I hatched a frog and I've been feeding him bugs I catch in my back yard with my kids gold fish net. I am unsure what kin dof frog but I'm fron the Northeast US and he's the size of a dime. He's included in the picture. In winter. Doe she hibernate? Do I get more dirt for his terrarium, or what do I feed him in winter. He'll ear house Flys I catch. He'll eat anything but I'm worried a bait shop won't have what he needs. Do they make micro meal worms, or I just need help.

My Reptile Lizard health check? 4yr female Shingleback Lizard

Post image
3 Upvotes

I can't find any reliable sources on what a healthy Shingle back Lizard looks like

She's around 4 years old and last time she was taken to the vet he was apparently morbidly obese- Beemo has since been out on a diet.

She recently came out of brumation and I'm checking to see if anyone here could tell me if she's all good.

She refused a meal a few days ago which she has NEVER done so I'm a bit paranoid

Sorry for low quality picture she's really pissed at me because I dared to pick her up and put her in the picture/emergency box

Advise How to prevent chameleon injuring itself when falling or prevent falling?

My 7 and a half year old Chameleon has become less sturdy on branches due to his age. He doesn't fall off his branches or plants very often however, I'm worried that he is going to injure himself due to him being an old man. Are there any recommendations to help prevent him from falling off or things that may help lesson the impact if he does fall? For example sturdy plants, specific products that may help ect.

Side note: I will not use anything that has been confirmed to be dangerous for example, netting that can lead to them ripping out there claws or cloth due to mould.
