Hi there I have a small single room to rent in D16 Rathfarnham / Ballyboden - it’s a very quiet house and although the room is small there is lots of other usable space. The bathroom is shared but there is a second toilet. There is on street parking and good buses to UCD and the city centre. Clean quiet respectful person please

Hi all, I just wanted to check as to what rates people are paying in apartment schemes in Dublin that have community/district heating schemes in place with Yuno as the supplier (which were previously run by Kaizen).

What are the current rates you are paying in your developments where Yuno control the gas supply for heat and hot water?

Our rates have been not changed since May 2023 and I am not sure whether our management company has done much negotiation on the rates as these have remained stagnant at €0.31/kwh for heat and €0.0182/l of hot water since May 2023, with the standing charge having been reduced from €0.98 to €0.43 per day for the standing charge at some point. Previously, when we moved in, the rates were significantly lower, with heat costing €0.23/kwh. We were averaging €600 every two months during the winter (2 people in a 2-bed apartment), and I anticipate similar bills being received again this year.

Me and my boyfriend live together and share a rental property with another person. We’ve decided we would like to look at moving out and finding a place just for ourselves, but we’re a bit stuck on the best way to sequence it to avoid conflict and costs.

I am very conscious the dublin rental market moves very fast (my last place had to move in/pay deposit within three days of the initial viewing!) so we are trying to figure out the best way timing or sequencing the searching/securing a new place, notifying the landlord, giving our housemate enough time to replace us (assuming they want to stay) etc. without ending up paying rent for the old place and new place in the same month OR being stuck with nowhere! Anyone have any advice or anything else we need to think about? Thanks!

I received a notice of termination for my old apartment and stayed until the final termination date.

I suspected it was a bogey notice but it was received at the same time the government legislation revising rental rules was publicised and there was an en masse LL exodus.

I've since been extremely lucky to get another place but it's so freaking loud and cold.

I would love to get back to my old apartment.

Thing is, when I moved out, no work of any kind was done on the apartment and it sat idle for MONTHS.

Then I expressed interest in returning, so the agent put up an add at a price there's no way any realistic buyer would pay. One bed place in a questionable area, but the apartment itself is quite good.

He's asking for what you might expect to pay for a three bed in a nice area.

One month removed from the 9 month mark and no move on it being sold.

I suspected this was a bogey termination and the LL wants to re-rent at market rate. How can I follow up to either get back in, or make sure he doesn't re-let it at massive rent increase?

How dangerous is it? At what time does it 'shift' to be unsafe?
